A Question Of Timing

| | Comments (20) |

A frequent question/comment is that quarterback Aaron Corp might have been blindsided on signing day with Mitch Mustain transferring a couple months later.
"I kind of had some inside info he was going to come," Corp said. "If I was concerned I wouldn't have signed."
Corp's sources were the coaches.
"The respect level would have been in question (if I wasn't told) but I was so it isn't."

Aaron Corp will be a loyal foot soldier in the unstoppable campaign of America's Quarterback, Mitch Mustain.

Mustain in 2008!

I was wondering why there hadn't been any posts about Mitch Mustain today and I was beginning to worry. But good to see my fears were for nothing. The natural order of things has been restored. There has to be at least one Mustain post a day.

Thanks, Scott.

Scott, I like how no matter what the topic, it somehow relates to Mitch Mustain... :)

Aaron isn't worried!? Wow! These young kids have quite an ego. It may pay off for him, if he can beat out the "M" guy. Time will tell on this. Poor Mark, the other "M".

Question! Can any of these "M"'s or "A"'s play another position?

Mitch Mustain made a mistake by coming to USC. Mark Sanchez aka. "THE DIRTY" is taking over next year and look for Mustain to get plenty of snaps in 4th quarter blowouts.

Scott, Could you make sure none of our quarterbacks are into dog fighting? I have no concerns about Sachez, because the girl at PetsMart lives on his street and thinks he's a nice guy. And JD is just a good guy all around. But all the new faces are suspect in my book until you get you scoop.

I have seen both MM and AC perform. I will take AC anyday. The fact that AC came to USC speaks volumes for his competitive spirit. He will get his snaps in prime time while at USC.

I won't comment on any of these 3 guys (MM, MS, AC) until I see them in meaningful action against some tough PAC-10 opponents. I just enjoy the fact that we will be benefitting greatly from the competition as they fight it out to be the starter in '08. Same thing for our running backs. Seems like we have the shelves stocked for years to come. Personally, I'd like to see people shift their focus on this blog to our CURRENT potentially Heisman/NC contender QB for 2007. JOHN DAVID FRICKIN' BOOTY!!!

I recall an article by Greg Katz in WeAreSC magazine where Allen Wallace ranked past college recruits as the Real Deal (Palmer, Manning), Overrated (C.J Leak, Rocky Hinds), Under the Radar (Brady, Rivers).

Here's my prediction for the current crop of SC QBs:
Real Deal - Booty; Overrated - Mustain, Sanchez; Under the Radar -Aaron Corp. Although Corp was well thought of in CA, he wasn't that highly touted nationally. But his all-around athleticsm will blossom here at SC under Sark and P.C.

LOL I LOVE IT IMITATION IS THE BEST FORM OF FLATTERY I AM PRINTING THIS IN ALL CAPS SO OLD READERS WILL KNOW IT IS REALLY ME---SOMEONE IS POSTING UNDER THE NAME OF TIREBITER LOL I AM TIREBITER1 THERE IS A 1 AT THE END ANYWAY, WHOEVER POSTED THE TIREBITER COMMENT ABOVE, HEY, I AGREE!!!!!!!!!

When Mustain gets the starting job in 2008, and Sanchez has transferred to another school, Corp will be able to move up to 2nd string as early as 2008. He will see Mustain win the Heisman Trophy, probably leave after two years as the starter, then be primed to start himself.

It all works out well for young Mr Corp. He is much faster than Sanchez and a far superior athlete. He does not possess the fundamentals as a quarterback that Mustain possesses, but Corp brings a new dimension as a QB - the Vince Young model where he also runs a lot.

Corp is very fast and runs a lot with the ball (sort of a Vince Young type), which no other USC quarterback does. His style of play is very different than Mustain's, so the playbook will have to be very different.

This is 2007 depth chart for QB:

1. Booty
2. Sanchez
3. Green
4. McDonald
5. Breuer
RS Corp
RS Mustain

This will be the 2008 depth chart for QB:

1. Mustain
2. Corp
3. Green
4. Breuer

Tirebiter is a fraud...behold the real TIREBITER1.

The playbook isn't going to change substantially for Corp. They may incorporate a few option plays to catch teams off-guard but for the most part it will stay the same and Corp will have the option to take off running when things break down.

Oh and Corp is not even close to Vince Young. VY was about 60 lbs heavier than Corp ever will be. No way Corp could take the hits VY did in college.

Tyler:

I completely agree. I know Corp will never be in the league of Vince Young. I said he was a Vince Young "type" - meaning that he is a quarterback who also runs a lot.

Sanchez and Mustain will both have graduated by Corp's junior year.

Mustain's presence doesn't alter Corp's timeline.

Trojan RAB:

Mustain will have three years of eligibility remaining from 2008. That means he can play through to the 2010 season. So Corp will be a redshirt senior by the time Mustain has exhausted his eligibility.

The quarterback problems we have are the envy of the rest of the schools in the country. They should have it so good. Things will have a way to work themselves out by fall practice next season (2008). Enough about "M", "M", and "A" until 2008. "JD" is the man.

I was fortunate enough to witness all but two of Orange Lutheran's games last year. Aaron Corp is the future QB at USC. Mustain can do whatever he wants and people can talk whatever they want to, but A.C. is lurking on the horizon. There is a reason he and Mike Reardon are state champions. Hopefully Blake Ayles will follow in their footsteps.
