Like The Wind
Sometimes people ask about certain prospects and want to know whether USC is interested.
The simple answer is it depends on what day of the week you ask. An example could be linebacker Brandon Magee of Corona Centennial. His stock rose two weeks ago during the USC camp.
If you check recruiting services, however, he has not been offered a scholarship. So is he off the list? Not completely, because a good game tape in September could change things completely.
Similarly, USC seemed to be hot-and-cold on Compton defensive lineman Datone Jones, who committed to UCLA. So there's never a 100 percent definitive answer with recruiting.

Comments
sc was hot on Jones when they offered him and turned cold when he committed to UCLA two days later.
I don't see how that situation is comparable to a recruit who had to camp in order to make an impression on the staff and still didn't get an offer.
You make it sound like the sc staff is iffy on Jones. They know he's a stud. Anybody that follows recruiting knows he's a stud.
