Mustain, Part I

| | Comments (28) |

Here's the first part of our interview with USC quarterback Mitch Mustain.

Q: How is life at USC so far?

A: It's going good. I'm having a lot of fun. I'm ready for the fall.

Q: Did you want to come to USC because you would just be another player instead of the center of attention?

A: Yes, I kind of wanted to (to just fit in). It's one of the pluses to being here. Tulsa is a small, private school and I wanted to go somewhere where I was just another guy.

Q: Are you looking ahead already to next spring when you will compete for the starting job?

A: I do a little bit so I can stay focused. It's not a year that I'll be out. Come January, I'm back in it. I really need to learn a lot.

Q: Do you know the offense or is it a good thing you are sitting out this season?

A: It takes time to pick it up. You don't just come in and pick it up in no time. It's good for me to redshirt. It's something I definitely need. I'm looking forward to playing on the scout team.

Q: How different are things here compared to Arkansas?

A: Everything is different. The lifestyle is different than what I’m used to. But I like it here. I was looking for a whole different deal than the first time I chose a college. I was looking for a change.

Q: When did you know you were coming to USC?

A: I looked at here and Tulsa after I left Arkansas. I really knew in April I wanted to come here.

Q: Why did you transfer?

A: I sat down and looked at what was going on there. Staying there wasn't the best for me. Once I was leaving, for the most part I got encouraging stuff at Arkansas and never heard one negative thing from anyone.

Scott:

I did say last week that you needed a daily article on your blog entitled "Mustain Musings," so the fact that this is only Part I of a series shows that you took that advice to heart.

It's all Mustain, all the time. That's what people want and it just drives the lonely, bitter, distracters crazy! I love it!

You give the people what they want, Scott. So, thank you.

Mustain in 2008!

Seems like a very level-headed young man. Good for him and good for USC. I expect many big things from him next year. But why is part I of the interview so short?

The best thing about Mitch in 2008, is that Mitch will have all of 2007 to prep for 2008 (no pressure). And if anything, 2007 will make the 2008 QB picture that much better (with Mitch, Mark and Aaron battling it out to lead "O"). Fight On!

Interesting he said that his mind was finally made up about coming to SC in April, probably right after he saw and sized up Sanchez in the Coliseum Scrimmage. After that performance from Sanchez, Mustain must have been laughing so hard, he could not wait to pack up his bags and transfer to SC! Heck, I bet even Corp and his family must have been giggling quite hard on the drive back to Villa Park that night. The 2007 spring scrimmage probably did more to seal the fates of two players and an entire football team than anything else.

Fight on!

Is the SID doing a tie-in with Mustain this week? I just read an interview with him in this morning's LA Times with very similar questions. Is this part of some kind of SID media blitz on Mustain or how else do you explain the timing?

FluorTower Author Profile Page said:

Will the future installments address Mustain's admiration of Sporty Spice and whether he will be attending the LA reunion show of the Spice Girls in December?

The world wants to know the answers to these questions, Scott.

Nirvana for the QueerForMustain crowd, which is really just one person, TrojanSAEinNYC, using the megaphone of multiple aliases.

Sounds like the good people of Arkansas were quite happy to see him go: “Once I was leaving, for the most part I got encouraging stuff at Arkansas and never heard one negative thing from anyone.” But before you were leaving…? Yeah…that’s WHY you were leaving.

Man oh man, ain't it just so sweet to have such depth!
With all of this MM and MS talk, young Mr Corp has just as good or at least is close to these guys with arm strength and accuracy, but he brings unbelievable breakaway (turn nothing into touchdowns) speed to the offense. I honestly think that Aaron Corp will be as much in the picture in 2008 as either of the other two.

Is the self appointed QB guru. All of a sudden you are on this crusade depth. BS, you were lobbying hard along with the rest of the usual suspects for MM and post this kissy-kissy garbage. Jimmy in rags basically posted the same BS>garbage...

Door Prize Author Profile Page said:

BSer from NY:
More garbage from another MM crusader. You are too pretentious quoting your kissy-kissy post that everybody wants MM. Speak for yourself Bill Clinton,Jr. Maybe ten of you usual suspects want MM. The majority rules in America. The majority elects the president. Do you and your usual suspects get the message? Please poll the USC students, alumni, etc. instead of that false moronic "we [ALL] want MM ALL th time"
If MM wins out in practice I swallow my pride and I am man enough to post it here. Are you and the rest man and men enough to do the same if MS wins out? Frankly my dear I doubt it.
I know a former college FB player who is now a well established professional in SC who has seen both very close in practice. He stated in another blog that MM is accurate and MS is the pro QB of the two. Take it or leave it. He knows more FB than you, Jimmy in rags and the rest of the usual suspects put together.
Thank you

USCinema, here is an observation on my part.

You are QueerForMustain and TrojanSAEinNYC in disguise, along with your other creepy aliases, IBinParadiseValley, JimmyCardinalGold, FluorTower, etc.

DoorPrize, don’t be fooled. Most, if not all, of the immature “I’m in love with Mister Mustain” postings are coming from that abject failure and embarrassment to USC, SAE and NYC known as TrojanSAEinNYC.

With only 50 days until USC’s first game of the 2007 Season, I think Booty will definitely beat out Mustain, Sanchez and Corp...oh...are we still talking about the 2008 QB debate?

DP - Technically the “majority” elected Al Gore the Bore...but W won the electoral vote (but I digress). FYI - Students that I know actually like Sanchez...but are also caught up in the hype surrounding the arrival of Beckham...I mean Mustain.

Okay. That was (really) my last post about the 2008 QB debate...until 2008!

USCinema Author Profile Page said:

No, I am only USCinema. Thank you for your concern, though.

Bill Author Profile Page said:

I don't get the hype of Mustain. He couldn't beat out Dick, who probably couldn't start on an Intramural team!

It is the same hysteia that has everyone believing that Pete Carroll is a good coach. He piled up all this talent and only wins 1 nation championship, which will soon be stripped and given to Oklahoma.

What is Pete Carroll's record going to look like when the NCAA catches up with the Trojans now they are done with Oklahoma? 34-35? The Oklahoma players received pocket change compared to what Reggie Bush and his family received!!

Cheat on!

JJH4USC Author Profile Page said:

Bill, “hypothetically” even if the NCAA vacates some of USC’s wins (which isn’t going to happen no matter how many times you or Yahoo write it), USC will still have more Heisman Trophy winners, more BCS wins (let alone appearances), and will probably still have a better overall record than UCLA over the period of time Carroll arrived at USC!

But keep spewing that garbage...it puts a collective smile on the faces of USC fans when we see that Bruin fans have such envy and contempt for their successful big brother.

Lose On and kepp hating!

Doorputa, Normally over the months I try to ignore your racist intended bull. I still have those intentions however I could not resist correcting your absurd error filled post concerning me.
You can go back and check each and every post I have made regarding MM/MS...You will only find that my take has been that both get to compete and may the best man win. Period! I have never bashed Sanchez in comparison to Mustain!

Now, it's proper to have posted "depth crusade" not "crusade depth". So if you are going to be posting in English, on an English speaking blog, how about learning to speak it before climbing upon the high horse that you often ride in here you enabling little turd! I am totally amazed that Scott continues to allow you to infect his blog with your bitter negativity!

Goliathtrojan

Doorputa cont....In your following post (after your weak attempt to rip me) that you nastily directed to BSer from New York.... Why don't you re-read that pile of illiteracy! Quit trying to write in English in public until you at least learn the language! You moron! I'm still puzzled that Scott has continued to allow your infectious nature to fester here!

You got one on me rectum hole or should I say _endejo! While you're at it your Spanish try failed. That is the difference between a bilingual and a clown-payaso, got it?

It wasn't a Spanish try! It was a half assed return gift of your own medicine. Just because you "try" to speak English does not in turn assume that I'd try to speak Spanish. I dont need to be bilingual, I don't want to be bilingual. If you want something from me you need to communicate it in English! Geez, I can hardly believe that you have suckered me into dialogue with you again and that now I'm set up for another insulting part English, part Spanish, however mostly illiteration and insult.
Still wondering how long Scott allows your participation errr I mean contamination!

Door..What is aplus? What is virtuous about destroying the English language? The next sentence, the one where political correctness is incorrectly used, is also illiterate! What did you mean by childish envy and jealousy? Your feeble attempt to communicate in English or your belief that anyone else on this board can even understand what you just posted?

There is no case that I need to make, you make your own every time you launch another of your nasty and contrary attempts at attacking someone in English .
How about just posting in Spanish for the rest of this season, you will most likely be understood and you won't have as many episodes of making a fool out of yourself.
