Mustain, Part II

Here's more of our interview with Mitch Mustain.

Q: People talk about you or Mark Sanchez transferring if you lose the starting job competition next spring or summer. Isn't there a chance one of you will get injured or maybe benched no matter who wins the job?
A: It's very realistic. We both realize it.

Q: Are you still going through a transition with the transfer?
A: I feel comfortable. I went through the surprise part and the skeptical and not really sure part and now I'm comfortable.

Q: How much did USC's quarterback tradition influence your decision?
A: A lot. I had a chance to talk to John David. They've been consistent and solid in what they've done.

Q: Do you have any regrets about going to Arkansas?
A: I don't regret it at all.

Q: Isn't it really beneficial to redshirt, so there is no pressure to learn the offense immediately?
A: That's going to be nice having a chance to be the scout team quarterback. I'm ready to learn the entire offense to where I understand general concepts.

Q: How familiar are you with USC?
A: I watched them a lot in 2005. I remember the Notre Dame game the most

Q: How did you like your ballet class?
A: They stuck me in where they could. But I like it. At first it was awkward.

Q: How difficult has it been living in Southern California after growing up in Arkansas?
A: It hasn't been a whole lot of changes. The biggest thing is not going anywhere until I get my car.

He seems to be an articulate and poised young man.

Keep up the good work, Scott. I'm loving each installment of this series on USC's next starting quarterback.

Mustain in 2008!

IMHO SW was NOT aggressive NOR detailed enough when asking MM about him and MS competing for the starting job. Mr. SW was too "TLC" oriented instead of being short, sweet and to the point. Had he done that a lot of the garbage that has been written by the bloggers here would have been cleared. Maybe in MM III you address that Mr. SW.
Thnx

I'm sure the boosters who provide kickbacks to the athletes can readily provide Mustain a car!

Reggie got a house.

Mustain gets a car!

Poor Mitch.

Can you say NCAA violation? I guess we can call you Oklahoma 2.0 instead of SUC!

Thanks Scott. It was obvious in Mitch's answer that he, as well as other SUC football players, receive kickbacks. I can't wait till the next story Yahoo! churns out is about SUC being on probation!

SANCTION ON!!!!

I think the SID must be on some kind of media blitz this week to get the word out on Mustain starting in 2008. There is no other way to explain how both major LA newspapers ran interviews with Mustain in mid-July 2007 about his starting in 2008. It is the only explanation for such a blitz so far ahead of when he would be eligible to start.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with it, but it is more an observation on my part. I am sure the hand of the SID is involved in this somehow.

Interesting series, Scott. Thanks for letting us learn more about Mitch Mustain.

waiting for his car means the same one he drove in Fayetteville. Are you kidding? Are you being facetious, 100 NCAA Titles, or are you really another bitter Hawg?

vttroy,

100 NCAA Titles is a Bruin. The giveaway? His idiocy, his monitoring of a Trojan blog and his clinging to 100 NCAA titles that don't include football.

Idiot...

RE: Can you say NCAA violation? I guess we can call you Oklahoma 2.0 instead of SUC!

Open letter to coaches Sarkisian & Carroll,
Please o' please, whatever you do during the upcoming season, do not take your foot off the gas against FUCLA. I would bring me much happiness, if in the 4th quarter of a game SC was winning by 80, you would leave the starters in, continue to throw deep, and blitz the heck out of whatever rag doll the Bruins put behind center. I've had all I can take of Westwood High's jealousy and chest beating over a fluke 13-9 victory and I would like nothing more than to "hang a hundred" on the inferior pansies in the powder blue.
Thank you and fight on!

Thanks for the well wishes 0 NCAA Football Titles!

And thanks for having one of the 5 Worst College Football Coaches in America (per SI.com) in Karl Dorrell!

Even if we ran up the score and put the bruins in their place they'd still be over here for the next year talking about how classless it was, etc. etc. The little brother never stops nagging the big brother.

Scott,

Just a thought...I really liked the fact you interviewed Mitch, but have you ever thought about doing the same with some of the other guys on the team and make it a weekly segment?

Or maybe just collect some random quotes from the players throughout the week and compile a list of your favorites and unleash them on Friday or Saturday before a game?

Thanks again

Pete Carroll is the #1 Worst College Football Coaches in America. How can you take all that talent and only win 1 National Championship?

Talk to Larry Coker about what happens when you have tons of talent and only win 1 NC! Petey, I think that Tulsa is looking for a defensive coordinator!

Choke on!

Mustain will be the starting QB at Nevada Las Vegas in 2009!

Bill , how pathetic are you ??? PC #1 worst coach?
so I bet you Love having Karl Dullard instead huh ...
At least he performs to the level of his talent ?? is that it? So PC being involved in 5 BCS Bowls and winning 4 , plus 2 (not 1 NC ) yeah the other counted too (just wasnt a BS-CS championship) but the NC trophies still shine for it in heritage hall......and 3 Heismans ???? dude , you have your brains in your shorts ........I'll take PC over ANY coach in America today !! you can keep your Karl and your pansie blue and yellow costumes.and your 100 womens NCAA titles.I'll stick with Troy and the real Champs of LA

...it will be a sad day in 2009 when Nevada Las Vegas has a better starting QB than UCLA!

Lose On!

- Dorrell Fan Club

13-9, your other teams suck too. Inferior academics, inferior athletics= inferior school

Speaking of inferiority. All these ucla trolls remind me of what an inferiority complex looks like. Most SC fans have no need for a ucla football blog, as if the program was ever relevent enough to warrant one. But everyday, the same baby blue trolls are over here armed with 13-9 and not much else. Not to mention ucla took all the momentum from that win and carried it over to a gutless loss to the worst Florida State team in 30 years. Talk about Choke On!

Miguelito...are you talking about UCLA being inferior?

...and if you are talking about USC... who is USC inferior to?... Fatburger?... The community college you dropped out of to work at Fatburger? (Last time I checked YOU did not go to UCLA or USC.)
