Two questions 1) Why does the band only play songs from the 1970's and early 80s? How many more times must we here Heartbreaker, Carry on my wayward son, or Tower of Power? Any chance Dr. Barter updates his catalogue?
2) Are there plans for a 2nd soft serve machnine at the Galen Center. Yes, it's expensive and served to you by retards. But I'll be damned if it isn't the best soft serve ever.

I just noticed that Oregon reinstated their baseball team for the '09 season so all of the Pac-10 schools will have a baseball team. I hope we don't divide the conference up in divisions like before - dumb idea.
Why doesn't USC have a softball team? USC is the only Pac-10 school without a softball team. You would think USC would have a good team just because they are in southern California. I am sure that scholarships might make USC less competitive than public schools like UCLA (ie: baseball). I guess you have to ask which sport you would give up; I would say soccer. I would tear down the "soccer stadium" and the nearby non-USC owned apartment complex and Lot 54. If I could, I would just close down the men's volleyball program. Who would be a good choice for head coach if softball became a varsity sport for USC? Was this ever or is it being seriously considered?

Since we all know you're dream in life is to have Coach Carroll's job, how would you list the RB's depth chart for the opening game (as of right now) and how else would you deploy them (in the slot, offset, in motion, etc).

First of all, Scott, you should always preface any mention of Mitch Mustain with his official title - America's Quarterback.
So has America's Quarterback, Mitch Mustain, been given a copy of the playbook yet or will he have to wait until the start of training camp?
You also said that he may not be able to learn the entire playbook by the time spring training begins, but if he started at Arkansas only eight weeks after enrolling, do you not think eight months would be plenty of time for him to master the USC playbook?
So thanks for this forum, Scott. It's always a great and entertaining read.

Talk to me about Stafon Johnson this year. (Not that it matters, but he's the highest rated USC running back in NCAA08.)

Scott:
Do you believe the reason Pete Carroll has not gone to the NFL the past two or three years is due to the fact that he has chosen to stay at USC or because no NFL team has actually offered him a job?

When are you going to post the rest of the Mitch Mustain interview? Or have you decided to just provide one line quotes from him rather than posting the transcript? There were things you mentioned in the sneak preview that you haven't gotten to yet, so I am anxiously awaiting the rest of your interview!

1) I'm already bored of Mustainmania. Who do you think Trojan Nation should start harping about next? I'm for Ryan Boatwright. I think he should start ahead of Daniel Hackett next year.
2) Where are the rest of the Papadakis brothers these days? I hear too much about Petros and not enough about George or Taso ever since I moved away from the South Bay.

The Band: Please ask Dr. Bartner to play at least one or two home game Star Spangled Banners to the press box side of the stadium bleachers/seats. That is the shady side of the stadium where the alumni which support the University sit. Many of them on that side pay the tuition for the students on the other side. Just 1 or 2 home games of this would be more than we get now. Dr. Bartner's arrangement is the best I have ever heard. The Beginning is too muffled when the instruments face the other direction. Thanks, Wolfe. Use your influence.

Do you get the impression that Mustain is sufficiently motivated and knows the task at hand in order to secure the starting quarterback position? Or do you think that he may be distracted by off field issues and lacks focus? Did he come to USC for any other reason than to start in 2008? Is that his sole intention and motivation?
Thanks in advance.

Scott, Do you see Bradford switching positions now that SC has powerbacks like Green and Tyler? Also, do you think him or Jordan Campbell may be moved to linebacker next year after possibly losing 3+ LB's.

Scott, How dominant do you think Lawrence Jackson will be this year? Is he still a philosophy major? When the 2008 NFL draft comes along, will he be one of the star performers in all the individual skill tests or is he just great on the field?

Here are my 2 Mustain-free questions:
1. With 10 scholarship tailbacks, what are the chances we will see 2 TBs on the field at the same time on an extensive basis?
2. While officially listed at 6'3, how tall is JD Booty really?

Scott,
I am curious to know how the baseball team is shaping up post draft( who's going and who's staying) and, albeit early, if we can expect to seem some significant changes come next season.
Thanks

What is the athletic department going to do in order to pay off the huge debt still remaining from the Galen Center? If all the personal seat licenses have been sold and they are still about $35 million in the red, what are they planning to do not to make Steve Sample angry?

Scott: Are you getting enough questions about Mitch Mustain to sustain this blog? Or should we refrain from Mustain? I don't want this blog to go down the drain. So many Mitch Mustain questions, it's just so inane. The plain truth is that too many readers have Mitch Mustain on the brain. It's like a runaway train, coming at you like those dogs and cats in the non-existent L.A. rain. When you answer quetions about Mitch Mustain, is it interest that you just feign? It's enough to drive you insane.
Kind of like Joe Jares' old class at USC, now that I think about it.

1) Aside from the freshmen, which player (or players) has the most to prove in fall camp in order to keep their spot or, alternatively, actually get some playing time?
2) It seems like most freshmen want to come in and try to get playing time immediately. Is there ever a case of a new player actually WANTING to redshirt in order to have time to improve his skills first?
3) If PC were to leave any time soon, would Sarkisian be the obvious choice for his replacement, or do you think the school would look elsewhere first?

I heard that Mark Sanchez is on track to graduate early - not sure if that means Spring/Summer 2008 (?)... Wouldn't an early degree mean if he didn't get the starting job for 2008, he'd be more likely to stay on the team as the number 1 backup behind MM in 2008 and then head to Grad School in 2009 instead of playing his last year of eligibility? This would clear the way for Aaron Corp (redshirt 2007?) to be number 2 backup in 2008, the number 1 backup in 2009 behind MM, and then in a position to start in 2010 and 2011.

Greetings oh wise Wolfie: If I may, a quick aside to reader JAY42:Thanks for the good advice--see my reply right under your comment.
Back to the Wolfman: that Capitol One jersey looks like a gift from their bowl game!
Here are my questions:
1. What do you think the individual odds are on each one of the following becoming a Trojan:
Will Hill
Brendan Beal
Arthur Brown
Patrick Johnson
Deion Walker
2.You may not know the answer to this one,but it's to settle a bet, and maybe you can tell me how to find out{the SID dept at SC is no help}. Did Frank Bull, the long-time public address announcer at the Coliseum, ever broadcast the SC games on the radio in the 1940s?
Thanx much, in advance, for whatever you can do with those two questions. 1. should be easy for you-but 2. may be impossible! In any case, your blog is the greatest in the history of the world!

I picked up my copy of NCAA Football 2008 the other day.
I simmed through the season. USC went undefeated with Booty having a terriffic season, but the NC Game was Mich and Fla because of strength of schedule.
SC only has 3 QB's in the game, #'s 10, 6 and 3. And according to the default depth chart Patrick Turner is the #2 receiver.
I guess I don't really have a question. I've just spent too much time playing that damned game today.

Are you anticipating that your book, Mitch and Me, will make you into this generation's Woodward and Bernstein? You got in at the ground level, and now all the other members of the media are not only jumping on the Mustain bandwagon that can't be stopped, they are actually quoting you and your blog. Do you hope that Mitch and Me will eventually be made into a movie? Will Mustainmania be bigger than Beatlemania?

What did Mitch Mustain do, if anything, not to get rusty as a quarterback in the months since his last game at Arkansas, as he did not participate in spring training in Fayetteville? Did he work out at all with a private coach or will the inactivity be a problem for him?

BULLETIN!
This just in ...
Mitch Mustain, the quarterback who has yet to play a down for the USC Trojans football team, reportedly will soon start his own online blog to satisfy the hundreds (thousands?) of people who have nothing better to do with their lives.
Mitch will personally maintain the blog 24 hours a day and provide an 800-number for the really, really lost souls who (a) either don't have a computer, or (b) still have not learned how to type.
Mitch also has agreed to stop by for dinner and give inspirational talks to family, friends and their fellow "MITCH RULES" fan club members. (There is no charge for the pep talks or personal appearances, but those partaking of this service are warned by the Surgeon General that they will be spending way more of their waking hours than is safely recommended by the Food and Drug Administration.)
Mitch also will be making an autograph appearance soon to sign his new book, "How I Became Famous at USC Without Even Playing." A confidentiality agreement has been signed with his publisher so that no "leaks" of secret information contained in the book can be posted on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. (Violators of this policy will be required to purchase all football bowl tickets not bought by UCLA fans after the 2007 season, which could amount to millions of dollars in penalties.)
Other 2007 plans set for Mitch Mustain:
1) He will conduct the USC Marching Band during the national anthem before every home game.
2) He will ride Traveler around the perimeter of the field after every home touchdown scored by the Trojans.
3) He will hold a Reporters Roundtable on the Fox Sports Network every week to answer questions sent in by adoring fans (1 question per viewer, please; women who send in their undergarments will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law).
4) The jersey, cleats and helmet worn by Mitch during every football game for USC for this season and eternity will be dipped in 24-karat gold and displayed inside an air-tight all-glass box at Heritage Hall, where a 24-hour guard will be posted to discourage looters.
5) Mitch will sign and personalize oversized photographs of himself for any USC alumni or Trojan football fan who renews his season tickets and donates an additional 25 percent of his/her annual income to the USC football program. (If the person is unemployed, he will be given the option of donating a kidney or other body organ of his/her choice.)
6) Every player who scores a touchdown for USC this season will be required to first shake hands with Mitch along the USC sideline before anyone else, including the coaching staff. Players who fail to adhere to this policy will be required to listen to taped lectures given by former USC sports journalism professor Joe Jares (these tapes reportedly were used as torture during World War II).
For more information about any of these programs, call 1-800-GO-MITCH.
