Who wouldn't want to be a witness to the greatest college football team ever assembled. Clausen better pray he's not playing in that game.
The 2005 SC-ND game in South Bend was the most requested game in their history up to that point. So this is not a trend that began this year.
ND has an unusual lottery system, where relatively few seats belong to season ticket holders, with most seats at each game going to different allotments of various constituencies through a lottery: alumni, parents of students, donor groups, students.
Alumni have their own separate allotment and lottery from that of non-alumni donors.
So out of 80,000 seats, only about about a third of the people at each game are there for every game of the season. For the most part, there are different people at each game. The SC game has always been their most requested home game every two years.
I remember the USC game there 2 yrs ago. I had never seen so much pregame hype. One of the other USC sites that I frequent that would normally post about 8 articles from papers around the nation the day before a game. I counted somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 articles that Friday before that USC vs ND game. It was crazy.
I will go on record to say if USC is to meet LSU in the National Champ game you will see an unprecedent demand for tickets. You think it was something to see tickets on the day of the game vs Texas in the Rose Bowl to be going for $1500 to get in the door.

The reason is that ticket is worth 500+ to sell to USC fans who can't get schlitz from USC ticket office.
