Scott:

You said that Mustain also seriously considered transferring to Tulsa, but I read in an interview he gave that he visited Tulsa the day after he got his release from Arkansas, purely as a courtesy, and that he was always going to transfer to USC and the recruitment process was closed off almost immediately.

Since you said for many months that he was coming to USC, was there even really an issue that Mustain was going to consider Tulsa as place to enroll?

When is Damian Williams expected to be fully recovered from his shoulder injury? Has he been able to do any other exercises in the meantime, such as running or cycling? Or is he completely unable to work out of this point?

Scott- I want to clarify a question I asked you last week. How does the staff think the hiring of John Morton will affect/ improve the offensive scheme?

Thanksin advance.

Scott, when you posted the message on Mitch Mustain's height and weight, was that to show he was overweight or underweight? From the information you provided, he seemed to be fine to me, but I am not sure of the significance. Please elaborate.

Thanks so much.

Scott,

Pete Carroll is synonymous with competition, intensity, tempo. When he arrives at Heritage Hall for work in the morning and leaves at night, does he run to/from his car? Does the man walk his talk (or should that be run his talk)?

SW, what is the latest with Jamere Holland, will he be ready for the start of the season, or could it be another lost season for him? Also, since practice has not started, how in tune do you think that John David is with the receiving corp? As always, great job. Fight On!

Is it true that the statue of Tommy Trojan in the middle of campus is to be removed and replaced with a statue of Mitch Mustain?

I was told that there have been discussions regarding introducing personal seat licenses for football games, so do you know if it is definite and what the timetable is for its introduction?

Scott, what can you say about Little Romeo's verbal commitment to the basketball team? Will he be on scholarship? Does it not appear to be a major step down to go from signing players like OJ Mayo and Davon Jefferson to someone like Little Romeo? Is there a method to Tim Floyd's madness here?

Scott

If UCLA beats USC again this year and the posts on this board go from 50% "UCLA OWNS LA" to 90% what will your reaction be?

Will PC try to do anything different for the game this year? It seemed like D. Walker was reading our playbook last year...does PC have any kind of a differnt game plan?

What is the status of Stafon's shoulders?

CW had quite a few fumbles last year..especially in the OSU game..is that still being worked on?

Do the players feel any stress being preseason #1? Or is that downplayed by the coaching staff?

If Sark leaves, who will call the plays?

Do you think Booty will make the Raiders team?

What do you think USC chances of landing Greg Monroe?

Hi Scott: Just for everyones' information, Charlie Weis has a daughter with special needs[developmentally disabled]. Charlie did come into the Trojan locker room after the 2005 game, and told the players he hoped they would go all the way. Anyone wishing to contribute to a fund that helps these kids when the parents can't afford it,[the State usually does just the minimal if you can call it that] can send their check to: "HANNAH & FRIENDS", C/O Charlie Weis, Athletic Dept. Notre Dame University, South Bend, Indiana. I just think it is a worthy cause, and it would be especially nice if it comes from a person who identifies themselves as an alumnus of The Univ. of Soutern California. After all, the Notre Dame- Southern Cal. series is the oldest [and greatest]intersectional rivalry in all of college football-by a million miles. Charlie can be rough[language especially], but I know him and he has a heart of gold-and is really a good sport too. Thanks in advance to anyone who contributes, and any amount, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. I contributed, and I die a little each time the Irish luck by us. Anyone wishing more information can contact me at Lashier112@aol.com After the 2, thats an at sign--its'not coming out well. So, thats 112ataol.com.

Question time: 1.Scott, if you had to name 3 players on the Trojan coaches "wish list", who are the most likely to committ, who would they be?

2.Since it's quite possible, in my opinion, that we may prove to be really hurting for good quality interior defensive linemen, what do you think the odds are that we will be forced to go back to the 3-4 defense this year? THANX MUCH!!!!

Wanger:

His name is actually LIL Romeo, not Little Romeo. May not seem that different, but in the rap community, there's always a danger of a beatdown if someone is dissed!

I agree, however, Lil Romeo coming to SC is making the basketball team into a circus.

Does Mitch Mustain seem sufficiently motivated and focused on the task of securing the starting quarterback position? Do you think that he will be up to the pressures and media attention of starting at USC? Will he be up for the job?

You said you wanted a Dale Thompson question, so here it goes:

What does Dale Thompson think of Mitch Mustain?

Scott,
I am really enjoying your interviews with Mitch Mustain, but why is each part so short? Is it based on how fast you are able to transcribe the interview? When are the following installments going to be posted for us to read?

Thanks for all you do with this blog, Scott. It's always greatly appreciated.

Is anyone in the athletic department worried about the football team's APR falling below the NCAA's new standard for penalties being imposed?

Scott,

Of the current coaches, who would you say is the most entertaining to talk to and who gives you the best insight on the workings and happenings of the team? Also, what are some of the more interesting stories/quotes you've gotten from them in the past couple years? Thanks

PC says every yeara that every job is open to competition. If that statement is literal, should not Patch go in as No. 1 until job is taken from him?

What do you consider the reason for the 4th quarter collapses last year (as opposed to prior years)? All coaching problems or did they not seem to be in as good shape as prior years?

Scott - what do you think about both you and Bill Dwyre of the LA Times running interviews with Mitch Mustain on the same day this past week? Was that a complete coincidence or did the USC athletic department decide it was time for the media to meet Mustain? Does it seem the media push for Mustain is beginning earlier than any other player prior to his arrival at USC?

Thanks for this forum, Scott. It is always a pleasure to read your responses.

In 2005, John David Booty appeared in 10 games (all but ND, Fresno and Texas). SC had a season-long #1 ranking, and Matt had won the Heisman the previous year. It appeared the coaching staff made a concerted effort to get John David as much game time as possible in preparation for the ’06 campaign.

The first three home games this season all have blow-out potential (Idaho, WSU & Stanford). Do you see PC making a similar effort this year to find significant playing time for Mark Sanchez? The one fly-in-the-ointment might be the Heisman PR push for Booty (300+ passing yards and 3+ TD’s make good headlines for the east coast voters that won’t see the games on Versus). But on a positive note, the rule reversals regarding clock operation will be adding back 6-10 plays to the game. I think John David deserves everything he gets, but I also hope the back-up QB gets an opportunity to develop for emergency use this year or as a starter next year.

As shown on the "Mustain on Miles" article above, USC players are very diplomatic with their public statements, much like their head coach.

Are they monitored or given instruction in any way on how to respond to questons and are they given a list of individuals they may not speak with?

Scott, what’s your beef with Arbogast? I understand that sometimes it’s just bad chemistry, but did something happen between the two of you to initiate your contempt? By the way, what is the voice of Trojan Football up to these days? I heard something about him being hired by the University but don’t know in what capacity.

Scott, it appears that long-time USC announcer TOM KELLY got the shaft from SC a while back---if you have any thoughts to share on this, I'd like to hear them. Thanx.
