Carswell Cleared
Freshman wide receiver Brandon Carswell was certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse on Tuesday, leaving only tailback Broderick Green as the lone player without clearinghouse approval. If Green is not approved by Thursday, USC will drop his classes in order to avoid losing a year of eligibility in case he does not receive NCAA approval.

So what does he do then? Go back home to Arkansas for the year?

How hard is this? Either you did or you didn't. The NCAA produces too much drama.

This is not looking good. I hope Green gets to play this year.

wow that's really bad news...if his classes are dropped and he goes home or something, we could lose him. He was on the fence the whole time about coming to USC and was one of the last commits. He will have Arkansas, Florida and Penn St. boosters calling him every day...

OK Scott I am going to get an early start on the next open forum...
What's your take on this "booty gets rattled under pressure" idea? I heard that all last year, and thought we were done with it. But your "NFL scout" said that again this year, and opposing coaches are touting that as their way to beat USC...

Thanks again Scott for all the great anecdotes and information. Broderick was receiving such high marks and appeared on track to make an impact. This would be a real shame. There goes the freakin' clearinghouse again.... We might have better success with Publishers Clearinghouse. Who can forget what occured with Mike Williams back in '04 as he was about to board a plane for the Va Tech game in D.C... Fight on.... vandalize the vandals !!!

I don't like the "gets rattled under pressure" observation because it's so obvious. Everyone knows that putting a QB under pressure is the easiest way to beat 99% of college QBs.
Very few QBs are as cool as a cucumber with a 250 lb linebacker bearing down on them. It's true that Booty's not as cool under pressure as Matt was but very few college QBs are. Heck most pro QB's aren't either. For a long time most pro coaches would have said that Peyton Manning got rattled under pressure. Put a good enough O-line around him though and all those doubters go bye-bye.
Booty doesn't perform well with a blitz in his face. So he's normal. Protect him and we won't have to have this discussion.

Oh and SC also had no running game last year. No running game = struggling QB. That's an established fact and the thing I am most concerned about in 2007. If USc can start running the ball again JDB will look like a stud and the Heisman will come back to it's rightful home.

Re: "rattled under pressure" The OL is the key to the run and to Booty being more comfortable. The questions still remains, how do we get this year's OL as good as the rest of the team?
