Why did USC allow Emmanuel Moody to go to Florida but force an appeal hearing for wide receiver Jamere Holland after denying him a transfer to Oregon (and Florida).
``You can't let someone talk to other schools, stop going to meetings and other things, and then let them just go to another Pac-10 school,'' said a source familiar with the case. ``This is not free agency.''

They let Moody go because he was considering alot of schools at the time (OK st. North Carolina Fl) and had no connections to Florida. He just a jerk off. They think Florida hired Holland's coach in a effort to lure him away. That's about the class level of SEC coaches who are like rotten immature children (See: Fullmer and Alabama) and they don't want Urban Meyer scamming them out of a player...btw Holland seems like a jerk too...
That line of reasoning sounds good to me.
Jamere Holland was a replacement for losing Jackson to Cal. Obviously he can't cut it physically at USC. Neither can Moody. Better to go to another school where it is easier and where you can stay healthy.
I think the restrictions on Holland and the fact that he has an attorney means that he probably was trouble before he was dismissed and since.
From what I understood, tampering with Moody wasn't a serious theory until after he was given his release.
As for Holland's choices:
1. Not letting him go to another in-conference team seems the norm in all schools.
2. Tampering with Holland seems extremely likely. A precedent should be set now to let other schools know it won't be tolerated
Yeah! Like Matt Moore from UCLA to Oregon St., where he led the Beavers to a win over USC.
Yeah! It's only "free agency" for the coaches who see greener pastures, and dump on the kids they recruited. Orgeron to Mississippi, Holt to Idaho, Kiffen to the Raiders, etc.
Only an idiot Bruin would compare Matt Moore (Moore played at UCLA in 2002 and 2003, went to College of the Canyons in 2004 where he didn't play football and then to Oregon St in 2005) to Holland who wants to go straight from USC to Oregon.
Or better yet only an idiot Bruin would compare Holland transfering in the Pac-10 to coaches leaving USC to go to other conferences or to the NFL.
Carrol is afraid of his players going to UF b/c he is watching Meyer build in the south what he has built in the west. Carrol is afraid of UF and still angry that his team got knocked off by two unranked pac-10 teams and had to watch UF take their place and destroy the bucknuts.
You Pac-10 wimps are just nuts. Anyone that really knows football would understand why players would want to come to Florida. The facilites and fan base here can only be matched by a few programs and USC is not one of them. Your stadium sucks and the only thing you have is that you are in LA and that attracts young kids. SEC is the toughest confrence and anyone that comes here it is not to play at an easier school. USC is just lucky they did not get the can of Gator whoop ass opened on them last JAN! Keep on crying, sour GRAPES! BACK TO BACK TO BACK Champs, first time in history!
I live in Florida and am a Trojan, and I can tell you sir, that it's the Floridians that just don't "get it." The heat and humidity of Gainesville compared to Southern California, give me a break. The coliseum is loud and raucous and everyone in So. California either roots for USC or UCLA. It is exactly like here in Central Florida where it is either FSU or Florida. And while The Swamp is a great venue for football, so are many other stadiums - The Big House, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and yes...The Coliseum that are as loud and as on-fire. What Trojans and other Pac-10 schools don't do is spit on fans and generally act like completely rude asses at games and otherwise. USC is a school of class...the SEC and other southern schools could learn from its example. Wimps we are not...champions and classy we are...And by the way, we'd be happy to play you in New Orleans...bring it, if you can. FIGHT ON!
Coach Starr was not used to "lure" Jamere. At first he was only to be given an office position. He worked very hard to become a coach. His plans to leave Taft were long time coming, he even took the year that Jamere was JR off.
