Fight Club

The rivalry between defensive ends Kyle Moore and Everson Griffen finally went public Monday when the pair got into a fight during practice.
The argument started when Griffen complained about his back and Moore told him to shut up, and then escalated enough to draw the attention of gathered players.
Moore and Griffen have engaged each other since the start of camp. Griffen arrived as a highly touted recruit and was considered cocky by some teammates. He and Moore got into an argument in the locker room last week over possession of the rookie ball, which is a football the freshmen hide from upperclassmen.

I think Big Rey Maualuga has to step in and put Griffen in his place. He needs to learn how to respect the veterans...

Griffen just needs to shut his pie hole, and try not to get pancaked by every other o linemen out there.

Well, well the tough guys hiding behind a keyboard are BSing tough words. They are the same cowards that trashed Mark Sanchez.

who's sanchez?

Well it's about time someone lit a fire under Moore! Classically underachieved since coming from Warner-Robins, Ga. I think the confrontations between those two are just great examples of how tough position competition really is. Let the best guy win out. I think Griffin will end up winning out eventually.
BTW..Griffin does not need any "putting in his place" nor does he need his "pie hole" shut unless it's by Moore through competition. The rest of the team wants both of them to excel.
BTW2..Doorprize..YOU are the coward hiding behind the keyboard adding nothing but angst and bitterness to this blog. The fact that Scott still allows you to continually infect this blog is beyond my comprehension.

Sanchez is the pansy who got a hairline fracture in his thumb and can't use his college education to come up with some other plan to deliver the ball to his receivers. He could call FedEx. He could use telekinesis. He could be like every other animal in the animal kingdom and get by without an opposable digit.

(Watch, now Door Prize will slap me down for agreeing with him, but since Door Prize has his opposable digit massaging the frontal lobe of his brain, he doesn't realize it.)

Bosco, are you implying what I think you're implying about the location of Door Prize's brain?

Griffen needs to shut his mouth and quit complaining. Props to Kyle Moore for shutting it for him.

Last time I checked, Griffen signed at USC to play football, not dance around like a ballerina and bitch every 10 seconds.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say that to Griffen's face....unless I was Moore. Fight On!

yeah it sounds like we a got a prima donna here in Griffen..

PC will take care of him

I agree with Goliath! This is nothing but good for Kyle Moore. I'm a big Moore homer because he's from Georgia... but he's been a disappointment thus far. Although he's gotten a lot of playing time, he's never been a guy that's made a difference in any game. No memorable plays.

How bad is it that you get replaced by a linebacker like he did last year by Cushing with the "Elephant" position. That's not good.

Hopefully, Griffen will let him know to step it up and play the way he can. May the best player win. But I'm rooting for Moore!

I'm going to side with Griffen on this. What was the problem with him telling Moore the veterans woulndn't find the rookie ball? I think Moore is just feeling the heat. Last year he underachieved and Coach Carroll was more confident playing a linebacker (Cushing) as the DE. This year he feels threatened by the new recruit. I think it is Moore who is handling this incorrectly and needs to mature. By the way, who is Moore to criticize someone for complaining about injuries?

I always thought that one of the reasons why Cushing started was a depth problem at DE. If LoJack got hurt, who was going to replace him. You need at least one DE with size.

But hey, I guess it's because Kyle Moore is an underachiever. Yep, the keyboard commandos who rarely leave their fat asses really know what's going on in the program.

I would personally like to see both Moore and Griffen shut up. Moore seems to be flapping his mouth as much as Griffen. If the guys back is hurt then thats a fact. There are a number of other players who have injuries as well on the team and Im sure they have let it be known.

Moore needs to be less concerned with what Griffen says and play ball. I also agree that Evernson needs to shutup and play ball. He will gain the respect of his teammates more so by letting his play on the field do the talking.

I agree with TrojanEncore's take. Both players need to focus on the field. It's time for Kyle Moore to finally show something on the field and Everson needs to respect the Vets, and let his actions on the playing field speak his words. Fight On!

All comments in the Times, including Moore's, play this down and seem to say all is well and they "will be best of friends" by the end of the day. Since we can't hear from Griffin (freshman), does it look like they are "frinds" now?

"yeah it sounds like we a got a prima donna here in Griffen.."

Is that really what "it" sounds like to you? Trouble reading? Heard anything else? Retarded?

I respect Pete Carroll but I wonder how much of his hyping of Griffin after he signed has to do with this? He was talking about Griffin contributing right away...maybe as a way to light a fire under Moore. Hope it doesn't backfire with Griffen getting all cocky before playing a down and team unity taking a hit.

I firmly believe that after getting his feet wet, adjusting to the speed of the college game, Griffin will eventually overtake Moore and will probably quickly become a beast that will draw double cover more often than not. I love his aggressiveness and his confident mindset. Fight the hell on EG!

This is too funny, you guys really just make me laugh sometimes. FIGHTS HAPPEN ALL THE TIME IN PRACTICE!!!! ALL THE TIME!!!! It is no big deal, they are both going to play. What the hell would ANY of you know about who's place it is to tell either who was right and who was worng? That's what I thought none of you!!

...so.

Maybe Moore feels threatened.
Maybe Griffen is cocky.
Maybe it's a big deal that will cause the team to implode.
Maybe it happens all the time.
Maybe it's a combination of any number of these theories.
Maybe it's something else all together.

Have I got it covered so far?

LOL
