Lost In Shuffle

A lot of discussion centered around Joe McKnight, Allen Bradford and Stafon Johnson following Monday's practice, but tailback Emmanuel Moody also made some sharp runs and did not appear hindered by his sore hamstring.
Moody also brought back some of the zip and breakaway aspects missing so often.

It's like when it rains, it pours! If they are all well--and if they all perform well, some are going to be very very pissed.

I understand "M" didn't have a great day. Comments?

I personally think Moody is garbage and think he has the least upside of any of the returning backs. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he transferred. He showed flashes last season, but also showed how vulnerable he is to injury and fumbles. He's got quickness, but doesn't find the holes that well and doesn't have enough breakaway speed, in my opinion. If Bradford continues to play like the beast that he is, I believe Moody gets squeezed.

Gable is too versatile, McKnight is flat out awesome, Chauncey is the feature big back, Johnson is getting more reps, Tyler is a strong back who might not even redshirt, and so I think Moody is in no position to win carries. Not to mention Green's grades clearing the NCAA and putting him on the field. What do you guys think?

What do I think? I think calling any player, especially a COLLEGIATE one, "garbage" is an extraordinary statement. What kind of pathetic loser are you, sitting in front of your computer with pizza stains on your shirt, to throw a better man than you under the bus that way?

Hey Ricky Martin,

Calm yourself before you go all Pac-Man Jones on everybody. And what pizza stains? The only stains I have are your wife's....I'll keep it rated G in here.

I stand by my comment and think Moody is "garbage", or "not so valuable" or "expendable", or however you want to sugar coat it. I think he is the least valuable running back on the current depth chart. No one in here needs your pathetic insults or "man judging".If you think "garbage" is an awful word, then toughen up. Just Because I love USC doesn't mean I have to love all their players, or all their fans for that matter. If you want to disagree, throw me some stats or some decent opinion. Douchebag.

Chauncey is reportedly having trouble qualifying again, but I'll step up here and actually say that I thought Moody looked real good prior to durability issues surfacing.

And I'll stand by my comment that you are a pathetic loser for calling a college player who busts his ass for his team "garbage". What a miserable life you must lead........

scott:
Where were you when the usual suspects kept trashing Maark Sanchez? Ricky Martin is good looking and can sing. Douchebag runs his mouth and fingers!

Where were you when the usual suspects kept trashing Mark Sanchez? Ricky Martin is good looking and can sing. Douchebag runs his mouth and...!

Miserable life I lead? You must be a 40 year wannabe USC alum who is trapped in an abusive marriage with kids who hate your guts. I am glad SC football and Wolf's blog give you an outlet to feel good. I am happy for you. And Moody has no business on the field with Bradford, McKnight, Tyler, and Hersh in front of him.

Door Prize, don't tell me Pretty Ricky over here was trashing Mark Sanchez. I think Mark Sanchez has got loads of talent and a cannon for an arm. next spring Sanchez will win the job. Just my prediction.

scottware was simply referring to Moody's game and football skills as being garbage, he didn't say anything against Moody as a person or attack his character. Moody had his chance to separate himself from the other RB's last season, and we know what he brings to the table, so now it's time to see what Stafon and the freshman can do.

I’m not sure what’s more pathetic:

1) That you actually had time to think about what you would write and still came up with a post so weak;
2) That you anonymously call players who bust their ass for the team “garbage”;
3) That you tell someone who’s posted now 4 times on this site that “I am glad SC football and Wolf's blog give you an outlet to feel good. I am happy for you” when you’ve posted here what? Hundreds of times? Over a thousand? Time to take a breather from mom’s basement son…..
4) That you don’t even know the name refers to one of the greatest Trojans ever, Ricky Bell. Sad.

I’m done with you.

Mel Kiper--I don't give a s--t what he was referring to. Calling Moody's skills "garbage" makes him a pathetic loser and dumb as dirt. If you're calling Moody garbage than you're in the same sad boat......

Somebody say stats? Here's the rushing stats from 2006. Games, Carries, Net Yards, Yards/Carry, TD's, Long, Yards/Game.

Washington, C. 13 157 744 4.7 9 43 57.2
Moody, Emmanuel 9 79 459 5.8 2 48 51.0
Gable, C.J. 13 111 434 3.9 4 31 33.4

I'd say Moody did very well for his limited action as the the only break-away threat and with the best yards/carry by 1.1 over Chauncey and 1.9 over C.J.

5.8 yards/carry is exceptional by any standard, especially so for a true freshman.

I have to disagree about Moody being garbage. I actually thought he did the best job of all the RBs last year. In fact, I think our starter (Chauncey) is the least talented of the entire bunch. I think Moody proved much more than Washington did last year.

That being said, if I had to rank the potential talent of our tailbacks based on what I saw last year and what I saw on film from the freshmen, I'd rank them like this:
1. McKnight (Bush like potential)
2. Tyler (ridiculously good before he was hurt)
3. Bradford (a beast I wouldn't like to meet in the hole)
4-7. (In any order) Moody, Gable, Johnson

I'm really looking forward to the McKnight/Tyler era to begin in Troy. I realize Tyler may have to sit a while and heal up, but he and McKnight are going to be really, really, really good in a few years.

PS. Let's try to refrain from calling our own guys garbage. Your own alternatives of "not so valuable" or my own "less productive" are probably better to describe our players. I'll say what I said when people were piling on Sanchez, "let's protect our own and go after the Bruins and the Irish"
One Love

I tried to stay out of this but I have to interject here because this ridiculous argument without any real facts can't continue.

Here are the stats for carries, yards, fumbles and fumbles lost (in that order)for all QBs and RBs that had fumbles in the 2006 season.

Booty 33 -53 5 3
Washington 157 744 4 3
Reed 7 12 3 0
Moody 79 459 2 0
Bradford 13 42 1 0

Not only is Moody not the most fumble prone RB but he also has not lost a fumble so far (not his doing entirely but still a stat).

Saying he's injury prone also makes no sense seeing as he's only played one season at USC. Hershel Dennis is injury prone. Moody got hurt one season. It would be like me saying that scottware is a terrible poster based on this one post.

If Moody is garbage then what do we call Washington who fumbled more, lost more fumbles AND got hurt last season - all while being the most experienced RB on the team?
