Freshman tailback Joe McKnight is catching passes while in motion out of the backfield and lining up in the slot. Pete Carroll said he has ``no doubt'' McKnight will make a noticeable contribution this season.
I am glad they are using him right away. I was afraid he was going to get the Stafon Johnson treatment and sit on the bench. After the poor excuse for a running game we had last year, we need it.

I have to make it to practice and check these guys out. I hope PC also uses ROJO in similar formations.

The Saints are using Reggie that way more so. I think Pete sees Joe has the same potential.
RoJo looks like a stud to me. I believe this guy will see a lot of playing time. He seems so mature and polish from the bits I have seen in the workouts so far.
I agree that the Saints are using Reggie in the same way. That's because they got it from USC. The Saints offensive coaches admitted to looking at a ton of USC footage to see how they utilized Reggie when he was at USC.
That cutting-edge utilization was likely the main selling point in Pete's pitch to Joe and IMO one of the main reasons he left LA for LA.
While the Saints may have reviewed film of Bush at USC, let's not forget that the USC coaches spent time with the St. Louis Rams' offensive brain trust, while Bush was at USC, to learn how they used Marshall Faulk as more than just a RB (e.g., lining him up in the slot, etc.).
