Against my better judgment, here's the first forum during training camp. As an aside, we might have a break in the bike-pedal incident. Aggressive reporting revealed the bike actually belonged to Martin Coleman, so maybe it's a case of mistaken identity.

Comments
Well, I am glad Mitch was fine. How could you scare us so much by reporting such a thing?
As for my question, what has Damian William been able to do so far in training camp, if anything?

Why would the coaches decide to make Aaron Corp the No. 3 QB and use up his redshirt year? If he's not going to play, why use up a redshirt year? Where does this put McDonald and Green?

Obviously the broken bicycle pedal incident is the "smoking gun" that is the key to "Mitch and Me"! It just gets more and more mysterious everyday. Good job, Scott, but don't let up until Deep Throat leads you to all the answers regarding this incident.
So now that you have seen the topic of the book that will make you a household name in official practices, please fill us in with your detailed impressions. I know you wrote Mustain had a rough start on the first day of practice (or at least he felt he did), then made adjustments, so what say you?

IF we win the NC, do you see a mass exodus coming?
i.e. Cushing, Rey M, Pinkard, Byers, Rachal, Turner, K. Thomas & others going to NFL? And has PC talked to players about this? And do they have a plan in case this happens?
(OK sorry I know I am stretching the 1 question rule)

Please read into Alex Parsons being moved to the other side of the line for me ... has Derek Simmons' and Averell Spicer's play so far made him expendable? Or is it more with Drew Radovich hurting, the Trojans are hurting for tackles?

Hey Scott:
Is there a skill requirement difference between the nose tackle and defensive tackle position. Also what are the different requirements for the strong and weak side linebacking positions and the strong and free safety positions.
Thanks for this feature...

For example, if we win it all and they all take off...we could lose (worst case scenario):
Pinkard T. Thomas Rey M Cushing K. Rivers Clay Matthews T. Williams LoJack Sed Ellis Baker Byers Spanos Rachal Booty Washington Reed Dennis and Patrick Turner..That's a hell of a lot of players..

Good job delving deeper into the bike pedal...it has all the twists and turns of a Hancock film! Where could it possibly go next...?
While you ponder that, are there any players that were first on the depth chart after spring practice but now appear to be overtaken for the starting position by another player?

Do you not think it was ridiculous for Lou Ferrigno Jr to have been given a senior salute last year at the Notre Dame game, when he was only a walk on for one year, was injured the entire time, and never even played or practiced with the team?

Where did Carmen Trutanich attend law school?
Definitely not USC, although you make it sound like he went to USC for law school (like he owes USC something for attending there). In fact, he went to SC only for undergrad.
On his website, and on the website for California attorneys, it says Northrop, and South Bay Univ (Harbour City, CA), respectively.
So where did he go for law school Scott? And how could someone who went to a law school that is not seen in a respectable light (who has heard of either school, honestly?), represent USC so often in high-profile cases with such high stakes?
Thanks Scott in advance.
BTW, I just asked this question because I was reading about the judge blocking the Anna Nicole video, and I looked up Howard K. Stern on wikipedia and it said he went to UCLA for law school...so I wanted to know about Trutanich just right now. lol

What do you and/or the coaches see as the relative strengths/weaknesses of Drew Radovich and Charles Brown at tackle? Do they see a drop off with Brown or does he bring something special to the table? And also, who is the non-starting offensive lineman that the coaches are most excited about and wh?
Thanks for this great forum!

What was the downside of giving a senior salute to Lou Ferrigno Jr.? He ran onto the field. I would think all the walk-on deserve one day on the floor of the Coliseum.
Now, my question. What is USC's admission policy for scholarship athletes. I saw South Carolina made the news saying they were using a tougher standard that the NCAA clearing house. Can a coach guarantee admission?

Coach Carroll praised Pinkard's play after the first day of practice. What are the chances that he ends up starting ahead of Ellison or Mays? Going into last season, I thought that Pinkard was probably the best player on our defense. I am still baffled that he was in on punt coverage during the 4th quarter of the Arkansas blowout.

Scott, I really don't care about pedal gate because we all know that great quarterbacks in the mold of Todd Marijuanavich don't ride bikes. They jog home behind the family car after a sub-par performance.
What I do care about is what kinds of drills the defense is doing to get the mindset to take away the ball. Describe. (Please.)

Hello Oh Wise Wolfie:
If you have the time, I wonder if you could elaborate on two of your answers from last time:
1. What was the incident in Eugene in 2001? I just plain forgot.
2.In answer to a readers' question, you said Charlie Weis had no redress on the "Bush Push". You said it was like when a player fumbles and the refs call a dead ball. In the example you used, couldn't the coach ask for a replay to see if the runners' knee was down first-ergo Weis blew a chance to ask for a replay. [I was thinking the "Push" was a refs' judgment call and therefore not reviewable.]
A review might have resulted in a penalty.
Now for my question: A reader asked you who were the three 5* players most likely to commit. You answered, "The next 5* to commit would be Beal, with Hill and Brown the next best opportunities." About six weeks ago, I asked what the odds were on those three to commit, and you listed Beal at 5-2, and, like, astronomical odds against the other two committing. So, my question is: Has anything changed in the last six weeks to alter the odds on any of those three?
Thanks, Scott, for taking the time to continue the forum, even if you don't have time to comment on all the three items mentioned above. The recruiting query is the one that I care most about-for another three weeks, recruiting will still be uppermost in my mind, along with getting Carswell and Green cleared-hope you can continue the forum once the season begins-providing you have the time---it is greatly appreciated!!

Fabulous investigative work on Pedalgate! Several things:
1) You need better sources in the future to confirm whose bike it is. The Trojan Family has been hurting for weeks now over the thought that someone (hmmm.....?) could have been out to derail the juggernaut that is the Mitch Mustain Bandwagon.
2) Have a camera record Sanchez's every move since he probably isn't bright enough to know which bike to go after and may be plotting his next fiendish move to go after our hero Mitch Mustain.
3) Do you believe Pedalgate is the biggest story you have ever broken?
4) Will videos be posted on your blog soon to expand further on Pedalgate and provide visual evidence? Is this one of the daily video features you were talking about?
It can become the Internet's latest soap opera sensation and make your blog even more unique and groundbreaking!
Fight on!

Since Mark Sanchez has a history of lying to the media (the "Jordan Traver Uttal" affair being just one of many examples), do you have to get independent verification from other sources regarding anything he says to you in interviews? Or do you just ask him questions where there is no wiggle room for him to lie?
Thanks for the forum, it's always very informative.

Scott,
What does Michael McDonald, a fifth year senior, think about Aaron Corp, a true freshman, jumping over him on the depth chart? Is that not insulting? Is Corp really that much better than the much older McDonald? Does this not prove that it doesn't matter how long someone has been in the system?

Hey Scottie boy,
What do you make of Da'john Harris's low performance, it seems that he may not be physical enough or just not strong at all to compete, Maybe his skills got him through in high school but he is being man handled, thats not typical for SC guys right? Like Christian T. And E Griff ei;.
Second Question, did Stafon set himself back with his "taunting" behavior in practice? will he be sent back to the "DOG" house?

Why do people ask stupid questions about a game that they are supposed to be fans of, therefore knowledgeable about its particulars?
Some asked about what drills are run to promote take aways. Someone else asked about the differences in "skill requirement" between NG and DT, Will and Mike backers and Free and Strong safeties. These must be the same people that sit on their hands in the Coliseum on Saturdays during the fall and aren't supporting their team.

Hi Scott:
I understand that Joe McKnight has lived up to his billing so far and that Allen Bradford and Stefon Johnson have really stepped as if they have something to prove during this first week of practice. What are your impressions of the running back corp in general so far and do you think that the performances of these three are liable to change the current pecking order at tailback?
Second, I hear that Brendan Beal is looking to move up his announcement date to the end of the month (instead of October) and that Florida is making a strong push for him. What have you heard and is SC still the frontrunner at this point?
Thanks.

Regarding the scheduling of Syracuse in 2011-12. Any possibility the Trojans can back out of the games if Gross or Robinson are asked to leave before 2011? Consider Idaho. Kind of pointless playing them now that Coach Holt isn't running that program. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...uh...we don't get fooled again!?
Yes, East Coast exposure is good for the program, however, there are better candidates than that armpit, rust-belt town called Syracuse. How about that up-and-coming Big East program called Rutgers? 30 minutes from the Big Apple. 10X the regional exposure.
