Two-A-Days
The idea of double practices in training camp is losing favor. Next week, USC practices once day Monday through Friday with two practices on Saturday. We also hear UCLA is not really planning two-a-day practices either.
The idea is to keep players fresh in training camp. It reminds of those halcyon days at UC Irvine when Paul Hackett had three practices a day.

Didn't Frank Kush used to have constant practice in the desert with no water breaks?
How long is the one practice a day? Do they spend more time in weight room or meetings or just hanging out?
What Scott no Hell Week?
I remember in high school like most we had a a week of training camp called Hell Week. It was 2 aday practices in the hot sun. Need I say 1/3 of the wanna bee footballers would give up and quit. they couldnt hold up.
This is a new idea for Colleges to go to 1 a day. It may be for the better. I think if you can hold a practice and get a good amount accomplished. Use the other time for skull Sessions and special position meetings it may be to the best.
For guys to be on the practice fields 2 a day fatigue on set could lead to more injuries.
Tirebiter1 yep. It was called "Camp Kush".
He had his players in the 110 degree Arizona heat. They would run the hills of the Phoenix-Scottsdale area as well. I heard it was one of the toughest camps.
So what are these Oakland Raiders excuse for saying Lane Kiffens Mini Camp was too much? Pansies..
Ah, yes, the words halcyon and Paul Hackett in the same sentence - Scott, you outdid yourself!
TrojanEncore; yeah, ol' Kush was about the meanest sonofagun I ever saw--no water ever!
With what they know of health now, need for water, Bear camps and Kush camps wouldn't go today.
Two-a-day have pros and cons, but if left to one, I imagine less injuries at end of month.
oooh, Scott and TrojanRick brought up "he whose name shall not be spoken"
When I think of Paul Hackett, I puke...
Don't know where you guys have been the last couple of years. NCAA regulations now forbid two-a-day drills on consecutive days. This was instituted because of the deaths at Northwestern and other schools.
