Carroll On Tyler

Tailback Marc Tyler practiced Wednesday, here's some reaction.
"He really got mixed into some drills and did some good things," Carroll said. "He stumbled around and made some mistakes, as you would think, but he had fun playing football for the first time."

I hope that Mark does not turn out to be another Chauncey, so full of promise, but injuries always holding him back. I realize that this has been only one injury for Mark, but sometimes you feel like the program is snake bitten when it comes to injuries. So that fear of Mark getting hurt again lingers on. Right now, I would really like to see Sark run C.J., Stafon and Joe Mac as the RB rotation, and let Mark fully recover before really putting him out there with the real game day hits. Fight On!

Tyler missed all of training camp, so now he commences one week into the season. He would need at least 4 to 5 weeks to get up to speed if he were to receive sufficient "touches" in practice, which is doubtful. Plus, another year of rehabbing such an injury would only aid in the healing process. In other words, methinks this man should red shirt.

I'm almost positive that Tyler will redshirt. As for Chauncey, some (myself included) might argue his injuries were a blessing in disguise. If he had not gotten hurt early in his career, his eligibility would have been exhausted during the Bush/White years.

LAWYER JOHN,

I doubt we'll see Marc Tyler this year. I expect him to get a couple carries every week with the scout team to get his legs under him but he won't see the field come gameday.

I think we should redshirt Chauncey this year...seriously, I cannot believe all the haterade going around this site.

I guess these people posting must be noobs to the USC world because anyone who lived though the dark ages (aka Paul Hackett Era) would appreciate what is happening at Troy.

I remember a time when USC was struggling with San Jose St. and now fans are complaining about a 38-10 romp. Good grief, get a hold of yourselves. USC is fine, it will have its losses, but right now, we are witnessing a Golden Age of USC Football that should be enjoyed not relentlessly worried and fretted over.

Here, here '04. This has *a lot* of whiners.

Best of luck to Tyler. I watched some of his high school games on TV and loved watching him run. Can't wait until I get to see him on the field as a Trojan, be it this year or next.

kp, Don't call him "Joe Mac". It's either "JoeMc" ("joe mick") or Joe MC ("joe emm see"). Either way, he is number 2 on my list of Knights in USC football history.

Nice post 04... I also remember the Can't Hackett era and am really enjoying the Carroll Championship era. I think too many SC fans get caught up in our rivals constant downplaying of the teams success and pathetic attempts to discredit the team and coaches by any means possible.

Take it from those of us who have lived through some tough times, this is an amazing run we are having so enjoy it.

SAMMY KNIGHT!

Actually, these times are called "the Carroll Do Little with So Much" Era. One National Championship with all that talent!

Or better yet, the "4th and One Carroll" Era. Keep going for the 4th and One and keep losing to Texas, Oregon State, UCLA, Nebraska (2007), Cal (2007), Washington (2007), and Michigan (2007) in the Mortons Hangover Relief Bowl.

Or even better yet, this is the "Carroll Blows Out Chow and Blows It" Era!

JoeMc is, without doubt, the most hyped running back at USC since RYAN KNIGHT. think JoeMc will live up to the hype though. BTW, Ryan is #3 on my list of Knights in USC football history, with JoeMc at #2 and rising.

Bill, it's OK. I know another guy a lot like you. He doesn't have any friends either. If coming onto this site helps you let out your frustration and keeps you from going postal and hurting innocent people, then I'm all for it. By the way, you might want to find a new therapist.

Redshirt Chauncey?

How can we redshirt Chauncey? He's been here 5 years already...

**confused**

Anyway, while I am old enough to remember the Ted Tollner era..ahem..equally as inept and pathetic as the Paul Hackett era, and do appreciate what PC has done, that doesn't mean they get free passes to play half-assed.

To me, the Tollner era was the worst. He replaced John Robinson, and went 1-7 against UCLA/ND. His overall percentage was better than Hackett's, but they were equally bad.

Hackett deserves at least one "at-a-boy" - his 1999 team stopped the 8 game losing streak to FUCLA, and he went 2-1 against the bRuins. Other than that, not much else accomplished.

NICE POST TIREBITER---KEEP IT UP AND YOU CAN USE MY NAME ANYTIME

HEY, I'M OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER THE HOWARD JONES ERA 4 NAT'L CHAMPIONSHIPS

HOWARD HAD 4
McKAY HAD 4
ROBINSON 1
CARROLL 2 AND COUNTING

SO 11 IN ALL NO TEAM HAS MORE!!!!

FUCLA COUNTS ONE-HALF A GIFT FROM THE UPI IN 1954

EVERYONE KNOWS OHIO ST HAD THE BEST TEAM THAT YEAR

BoscoH, right now I still have to rank Ryan Knight as Number 1 on my list of Knights in USC history, only because Ryan was one of my best friends in High School (Fly Rubidoux Falcons)! As for Joe "Mc", he will do all of the Trojan nation very proud when everything is all said and done.

Bill and 1966, you both are pathetic. Bill, go back to your gutty little bruins blog and spare us all your SC hatred. Go criticize your great coach Karl Dullard and the mighty sons of westwood.trust me they have far bigger issues than do the Trojans. (e.g. QB depth and tackling skills)
1966, Dude, this is not the 60s anymore , open you eyes, there are lots of good teams in America, SC is among , if not the best for the past 4-5 years now. Quit your whining and enjoy the ride ....they are kids and we have had worse ( remember Hackett, Tollner, Smith??) Did you always whine and cry like you do as a child , good god man, just shut up and appreciate the greatness of the teams PC has assembled..We could be back to the Hackett numbers were it not for PC and Co.

Speaking of 4th downs, that is one of the main reasons I APPRECIATE Pete Carroll. He actually has the balls to gamble on his team. Paul Hackett NEVER went for it. I couldn't think of one more clear difference between the two coaches. Oh wait, one of them is kicking ass and the other got his ass kicked.
