Change At The Top
Here's this week's Top 25 ballot for the Associated Press.

6. Kentucky
7. Oklahoma
8. South Florida

Comments
This almost seems reasonable. I won't argue with LSU at #1. But Cal's shown a lot more than Ohio State this year, in my opinion.

Scott, so quick to pull the trigger. LSU plays a nobody and struggles in the first half, doesn't even cover the spread and gets a reward for their victory. Trojans are their own worst enemy and kept the game close against an improving team that was far more of an challenge than LSU would ever consider scheduling and what do you do Scott? You pulled the trigger on the rankings. I guess you enjoy getting a rise from your readers.

Despite a lousy performance USC should have stayed at the top. This time USC gave the East coast bias faithful a reason to bump their boys. Look at OHST in #2 doesn't that reinforce my point? What else is new?Furthermore WVU and Okipinoki should have dropped out of the top ten just like Michigan got booted out; rest my case.
Stay tuned

I dont see how Oregon falls to 17, with Texas ranked ahead of them? TX almost lost to Central Fla, and loses yesterday 41-21 to K-State...

Concur with trigger pulling. First, tell me you watched the LSU game? Then tell me how great they looked in the first half against a far inferior opponent than UW? Then tell me how impressed you were they played like that in perfect conditions (indoors) at home? Then tell me LSU lost 2/5 of their starting line and overcame that? Then tell me that LSU held the opponent to less than 90 yards passing, less that 200 overall? Then tell me that because you weighed all that, you voted them #1 over a team that won by doing those things, despite the mistakes (of which as you saw, many many were not mistakes but really bad officiating).
Thanks for answering those issues in advance.

USC and LSU had equally sloppy performances. Look at their box scores. And LSU's came basically at home against a much less talented team. While I may actually prefer being #2 (if only just to shut up my friends in the south until we actually play LSU), I would not flip LSU and USC based on this week's performance. Let's see how LSU does against an overrated Florida team next week. UF is still better than Stanford. If they take care of business, they'd deserve to hop over us until the Oregon game.

I'd have Oregon as the top one loss team. Plus, they'd crush Wisconsin if they played. Herbstreit was right about that one.

USC should remain at #1 until beaten. LSU needs to come north of the Mason-Dixon line to play a game. Only then we'll see what they are made of...

Thanks for rewarding LSU for a poor showing against a crappy Tulane team in front of a friendly crowd. When LSU has a scare on the road--if they ever play a road game--let's see if you move them down.

I agree with the guy that said "people like you should not be allowed to vote" get the point. To make that decision you need to compare WU with Tulane, that's the rub and you picked Tulane! ... Idiot...hmmm yea most likely.

See this is the kind of stuff that makes me mad...I am afraid wolfie has bought into the Les Miles hype machine..friggin'LSU almost lost to TULANE AT HOME
I watched that game they looked like crap...I really would not put them at #1.
Tulane gave them the game.
Now that I have gathered some info it is not as bad as it seems. SW just has a pulled hamstring, CR a sprained knee and we did win, after all. O'Dowd is gone for a while but Spanos will do fine.
JDB said the ball was slippery I am sure it was. I know alot of people will say that's an excuse but I don't believe that.
Now, who says we will be #2? Everyone assumes we will just go to #2. Why? Since all the sportswriters like scott are listening to Les Miles, we could be #3, #4, or even #5 or #6. And frankly I don't see LSU losing a game this year, or Ohio st..so we could be out of the NC picture.
Three things concern me:
1. Since Les Miles has gotten his wish and is trash talking his team into the NC game and is getting everyone to be hyper critical of USC, we probably won't be in hte NC game this year even though we deserve it
2. JDB just doesn't seem to be improving. More tipped passes, getting rattled under the pressure, he can't connect on long balls...
3. I have trojan all access TV and was watching interviews...the players didn't seem to be too concerned. Their attitude was generally, "hey we won so ...we'll have to practice harder this week"
PC showed the proper amount of concern but the players kind of shrugged it off..hopefully the coaches will work with them this week

Scott,
I think you need to be clear whether these are your votes or the official rankings.
Oh and I'm glad LSU's at #1. Let them live with the bulls-eye on their backs for a while. See how much they like it.
Here's my prediction. LSU will lose to Florida next week. The worst thing that could have happened for LSU was UF losing this week. They will be out for blood next week and know that with a defeat of LSU they're back in the NC picture and Top 5.

yeah good point tyler..the only problem is that the media is all east coast bias and loves the SEC..any slip by LSU will be passed of as "well they play in the hardest conference in the USA" or some other BS...
thanks for the link Door..they only got us by 1 vote in the AP..we will get that back next week
It's hilarious to me how delusional some people are...all the ND fans blame Ty Willingham for their mess..people keep writting how tough the SEC is even though USC has spanked 2 SEC teams recently..Michigan fans are talking about going to the rose bowl and "Back in the NC hunt" hahah
"reality is what you make it" I guess...

That latest poll just shows why you should NOT be given a ballot. It makes you look totally unknowledgeable and out of touch. Truthfully Scott, it makes you seem obviously not interested in legitimate polling but instead, baiting for hits on your website by stirring obvious controversy. That is why I won't waste my time arguing your rediculously out of touch poll.

LSU is #1.
Great job, Just Disgraceful Booty.
You were so disgraceful that we dropped to #2 after a win. PATHETIC!
With Grossman's performance Saturday, I mean, Booty's, there went the "house money" I was going to lay down for next week!
He sucks!

Excuses, excuses, excuses. That is all this no good for nothing BUST scrub named Booty can say for his shitty performance...although...it DID NOT surprise me!
Disappointment seems to be commonplace with Booty at the helm.
He lost many a bettors lotsa money tonite with his crappy performance.
That is what happens to midgets like him who play QB.
So I guess when he has a good grip, he can throw the football at the defensive linemen's extended arm? But when he has no grip, he can throw it downfield and get picked off? WOW!
Nice excuse, dude! (pun intended!) Shows the great education you have gotten by taking the easiest classes at SC...since you are, a Sociology major, right? LMFAO!
Anyways, I CANT WAIT for USC to play Cal or even Oregon later this year! Booty will lock onto his WRs and be rattled so easily that you can expect a loss. But the expected loss can result in a respectful gain when betting on the opponent against the Booty-led Trojans. With Booty leading the Trojans, it is like Rex Grossman leading the Bears...it won't work and you won't win!
LAS VEGAS BOWL...anyone???? Hell, we may even lose to UCLA as well. Hopefully, 3 losses in Pac-10 play will lead to a Las Vegas Bowl birth, then we can get laid with dumb chicks much easier in Vegas wearing our SC gear! (not that its even hard in the first place...LOL!)
So I am tired from yelling at Booty on the TV screen. He sucks. So do we unless we start Sanchez!
LET THE MARK SANCHEZ ERA BEGIN! At least Sanchez has height...
I was surprised I did not see Booty's specialty pass tonite...throwing the football into the back of the OFFENSIVE lineman's head, being a midget and all.
Man, Booty sucks. No wonder last year with Kiffin calling plays we sucked so much we lost 2 games.
Sark definitely knows what he is doing at least. I have faith in Sark that he will pull Booty and put in Mark Sanchez against Oregon and Cal!
So with a long enough rant, I will end this message.
I hope Rex, oops, I mean Booty, grows a little before the next game and steps it up. But since Booty is a midget and inferior QB like Rex, we will suck. The mother fucker almost had 3 INTS instead of 2...what a scrub!
Remember, with JD Booty...you get Just Disgraceful Booty.
I guess it runs in the family. Just Disgraceful Booty sucks like his older brother....they're SCRUBS!!!
Thanks for ruining the weekend for Vegas bettors, Just Disgraceful Booty!

There was a two point difference between LSU and USC. If you had left USC at #1, there would have been a tie for #1. Oh well, can't disagree but it would have been fun to see a tie for #1.

well the bottom line is the BCS poll, which comes out soon..and when we beat Cal and Oregon who are so highly ranked we will blow LSU out of the water..
but I am getting a little concerned about JDB..I see other teams with tipped passes but not this many..and he cracks under the pressure so easily..it's so easy to rattle him just like UCLA said last year..why can't he connect on long passes? has he ever completed a pass over like 25 yards? I am sure they work on it in practice.
I agree Sark's play calling is way better than kiffin who was the king of the 4 yard pass in the flat to CJ "west coast offense". But I don't understand some things. Here is an example:
They put McKnight into the game on the pass play. Supposedly we want to get the ball to him, let him shake and bake and use his reggie bush like skills to make a big play. So why did we throw an out pattern to the sidelines to him?
why do they keep running a reverse to RoJo? That's all I have ever seen, like clockwork..RoJo comes in, expect a reverse...
hopefully they will work on it :o)

First of all, to Redcorn: I pointed this out to you last year but you are obviously such a dumb crap you don't know the Pac 10 Bowl commitments. If we have 3 losses, we won't finish in 5th place, which is who goes to the Vegas Bowl. I would have thought you would have learned by now. Oh well.
Scott,
You should lose all voting rights on the AP. How can you not have Arizona State in the top 25 when they destroyed Colorado, which beat Oklahoma? Michigan with 2 losses, including one to a 1AA team? Ohio St. ahead of Cal? Memo dude, its not 1978! The Big Ten sucks!) And finally to switch SC and LSU. Why? Because LSU beat up a vaunted 1-3 Tulane team? I find it incredible you drop Oregon so far down and they are still behind Okie, Texass, VA Tech, and even Hawaii. You're knowledge of college football is poor and you should lose your vote.
I appreciate your work on this blog but I feel you care more about causing controversy than reporting information!

2. JDB just doesn't seem to be improving. More tipped passes, getting rattled under the pressure, he can't connect on long balls...
Support the QB ;>)
Sark's play calling.... I don't understand some things.
Neither does JDB :>) or the rest of the team
What about the play calling in the Red Zone after CW's long run. They don't even take CW out for a blow. Runs him right into the line. Then tries to run SJ into line. Then throws a short pass behind line scrimage to SJ on third and he is stopped. This series of downs spoke volumes of Sark's inept play calling.

Hey vinoguy,
Don't forget LSU also needs to go west of the Mississippi to play a game. The Mason Dixon line is just one boundary. I'm sure Hawaii would give them a hell of a fight.
Fight On Trojans and get the mess cleaned up!

Please explain why VaTech is #11. They barely beat East Carolina at home in their opener, get rolled by LSU, then beat Ohio, Bill and Mary, and pull out a 17-10 win this weekend over ummmm North Carolina. Woohoo. Polls shouldn't start until Oct 1st.
I'm fine with LSU at #1. They've been obsessed with USC ever since they had to share a national championship 4 years ago. Now I won't haveta worry about some LuSUr selling his last possum to rent another billboard on Figueroa.

THIS IS DISGUSTING--I SEE THE M.F. WORD, THE S.. WORD, AREN'T WE TRYING TO KEEP THIS CLEAN??????????
SCOTT, RE YOUR DROPPING SC, I DISAGREE--BUT IT'S ACADEMIC----THE VOTE WAS GOING TO BE CLOSE AND AN LSU WIN OVER FLA. WOULD HAVE PUT THEM AT NUMBER ONE ANYWAY, WHILE WE POUND STANFORD, --IF WE WIN OUT, WE PLAY FOR TITLE BECAUSE OF WINS OVER CAL AND ORE. SO NO PROBLEM---THE PROBLEM NOW IS BOOTY, THE CB POSIYION, AND THE OL DEPTH. I STILL HAVE FAITH.

I have never read a less intelligent post from someone until I read REDCORN'S! Like PH55 said if we lose 3 games we would end up in either the sun bowl or at worst the emerald bowl. I felt like it was last year with you saying all the Las Vegas bowl stuff. Maybe cause you have no clue what your saying that is one of the only bowls you know about cause your a gambling degenerate who goes to Vegas a lot. And your right I just checked on quite a few sites and I can't believe we have such a tiny QB who is 6-3. We should for sure put Sanchez in because he is a massive 6-3. Do you want us to go recruit some 6-7 QB with no mobility at all? I think your just like Scottie boy in that you come on here just to see if you can get a rise out of anyone. All I ask if for one somewhat intelligent post from you ever!

19. Florida State
20. Alabama
21. Arkansas
22. Michigan
23. Auburn
24. Kansas State
Michigan in ahead of Auburn? Michigan has zero quality wins. At least Auburn beat Florida and Texas-killers Kansas State.
And Alabama? What's on their resume except beating Arkansas who have beaten nobody in the top 50.
Meanwhile Arizona State is 5-0 with a win over Colorado and really no close calls in the five wins. And they don't even rate a nod ahead of Florida State, Arkansas or Alabama?
You're nuts, Scott.
P.S. Thanks for delivering the swing vote in favor of LSU. Now you can watch Florida play a #1 team for once.
