Goodbye Redshirt

Freshman safety Marshall Jones played at the end of the game, because USC coach Pete Carroll wants more depth at safety after he switched Mozique McCurtis from safety to cornerback following the injury to Cary Harris.
``We have one less guy at safety,'' Carroll said.
Harris dislocated his right shoulder and could be out several weeks.

Great, I've been looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Plus it's good to show the kids at Oaks Christian HS that one of their own will play as a freshman.

Belotti and Tedford are going to shred this overrated and undermanned defense.

I agree 89. Everything looks right on both sides of the ball with the huge exception being our pass defense. The secondary seems to be real inconsistent and our 'all-americans' on D make plays-AFTER the ball is caught. CAL's offense will especially expose this weak secondary. This is when it would be nice to have J-Pinkard in the lineup. Maybe next year>?

USC should concede the Cal game now and just concentrate on Holiday Bowl plans and recruiting corners that can cover the Golden Bear super athletes.
Maybe Cal will play LSU in the BCS CG and Trojans can backdoor into the Rose Bowl
or 1 loss BCS At Large.

I thought this, out of today's LATimes, was written specifically for the whiners on this site. Trojans Nitpick Nation - I love it!:

The question after a 28-point win over Idaho was, "How could USC look so sluggish in its home opener?"

The question after the bye week was, "How could USC be No. 1 when Louisiana State just crushed Virginia Tech in Baton Rouge?"

The question after a romp over Nebraska last week was, "Nice running game, but when will the star quarterback and his passing game show up?"

The only question after USC's 47-14 win over Washington State at the Coliseum on Saturday night was. . .

. . . Next?

That would be Washington, next week, in Seattle.

Saturday night was a bad night for Trojans Nitpick Nation as USC turned in a worked-them-like performance.

Ya know 89, You are such a sad sack! We've been reading your lack of confidence whining bitching and moaning for years now. Why don't you just go back to pussy school and leave the manly stuff to PC and his staff.

You whiners are annoying the crap out of me.
First of all, Harris should be back by the Oregon game...which is more than a month away. And no one before then should put pressure on the secondary.
Secondly, this is just game 3...USC's back four will get better...I think Cal and Oregon are already at their peak.
Lastly, if Oregon gives up 31 to Stanford and Cal gives up 27 to Arizona...how much do you think SC will drop on them.
PC has had no problem with Oregon or Cal since 2003...relax, whiners.

Are we really concerned about Dennis Dixon threatening the secondary? Dennis Dixon? The guy that got pulled for Little Ryan Leaf last season because he was such an inaccurate passer?

Well, I'm not one of the whiners here, but I will say Dixon has been putting up some awesome numbers this season. I realize they might not have played top caliber teams, but he is looking a lot better than last year.

Cal?

geez come on...we own them..they had a struggle with tennessee the first part of the game, and you want me to think they are a lock to beat us?

You guys are listening to Lee Corso too much..

And let us not forget what the WSU quarterback Brink said after the SC game-- that the defensive line brings so much pressure, the linebackers can drop back to help out the secondary. The various parts (positions) of a football team are not isolated, but are interconnected. I like SC's chances against anybody.

Seeing Marshall Jones come in Saturday night was both fun and disheartening. It is nice to see that SC can put another true freshman H.S. All-American in at Safety. But it only means we are once again, too beat up too early in the season. It is beneficial down the road, as we can see how Thomas, Harris, Ellison and Mays all got so much experience at such an early age.
Dear Haters, if shutting down one of the top passers in the Pac-10 (Brink had just over 150 yards, while averaging over 350) is showing how weak we are, every team in the country should be scared about seeing us play well. Our boys will be tested this week again. Fight On!
