Here We Go Again

USC is changing John David Booty's passing stats and Patrick Turner's receiving stats from the Washington State game. The second play of the second series, originally ruled a backwards lateral, is being changed to a pass.
That means Booty is now 29 for 36 for 289 yards and Turner has seven receptions for 74 yards.
This ``practice'' of changing stats after the game also occurred last year. The problem is that even if it's legitimate, it reeks of stat padding if you're in Florida or Louisiana (or at a school with a Heisman candidate).

Well, that and 10-cents won't buy you a cup of coffee. Instead of a conspiracy, perhaps the explanation lies with having more time to review the game tape after the game. And I don't think a few yards here or there are going to win over the Heisman voters.

Why would anyone in Louisiana care?

I wish you would spend more of your oh, so valuable time on things that are really important. Why not explain to us why you, as beat reporter, didn't even do the game story. Or why you, as beat reporter, had only a sidebar, most of which was posted on your blog, and the rest contributed by another staff reporter. Wht is going on over at the Daily News!

The question is whether they changed the stat to reflect reality. I'd have to go back and look, but that play sure looked like a backward pass to me when I saw it live and I thought it was unnecessarily dangerous if designed that way. One of those sideline passes actually got read from the start by a defensive player too slow to make a play!

What sucks is the rushing total drops below 200 yards now. 34 carries for 197.

There's been talk in the Bayou to promote LSU's Glenn Dorsey for Heisman if the Tiger defense continues to dominate foes.

Is John David still in Heisman discussions? I heard he's not even the #1 QB in the Pac-10 right now.
