In The Mix?

We hear tailback C.J. Gable is scheduled to get some carries against Washington on Saturday (no promises).
By the way, USC coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday he still did not know who would start against the Huskies. Our hunch says Chauncey Washington.

I don't know why this is even a discussion CJ is USC's 3rd best back and strictly a change of pace guy. USC's 3 backs this season are Washington, Johnson and CJ in that order. McKnight will get some touches at WR and in mop up time at least till he gets comfortable.

PC wanted to give Chauncey a larger load last week to test his game shape and he got his answer. The rotation will start to settle in over hte next 3 games and we'll have a clear picture by the time we get to Nback from ND.

I still recall Gable as not being the answer last year. And Washington looked like an animal on some of his runs in the Washington St game, which is what this team was missing in 2006. Johnson has looked shifty. Washington and Johnson look as if they are the real deal for 2007. But the jury is still out on how much improved Gable is and whether he can crack this lineup.
