It's Not Just McKnight

Joe McKnight is not the only freshman struggling right now.
``Everson's going through, Ronald's going through it,'' offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian said, referring to fellow freshmen Everson Griffen and Ronald Johnson.

PC shows the college football world that true Freshmen do get touches on the #1 ranked team.

Playing devil's advocate, can a young player play too soon, taste failure, and then lose his confidence?

Just like in baseball you don't bring up a young pitcher too soon to The Show or in boxing arrange for a title fight too soon with a young fighter.

Also if PT does not start performing when does he start resenting Rey Rey big time.

Am I the only one that feels like both the posts and comments on this site are 90% negative? Or even just whining?

I mean, I know I could just not read, but there's sometimes some good information on here. I just feel like there's #119 teams out there in worse shape than us, and all the folks on here do is moan and whine. Cheer up, emo kids! We're #1.

matthew,

Welcome to Scott's blog. He's made a name for himself by being the harbinger of doom for the USC program. And strangely enough even moreso now that the team's actually good.

It's his niche and you just have to train yourself to find the actual news amidst all the forced negativity.

matthew - +10 pts for the emo kid reference

matthew,

You didn't count Apallachan State. So there 120 teams worse than our Trojans. Also, we like Scott because he does his open forum. This week, I am going to ask (again) who the better fantasy football pick is/was: LenDale or Reggie.

No one complaining about Will Hill declaring with Florida yet!?

They get two touches a game and burn their redshirt year. Doesn't sound like significant playing time to me!

Kris O'Dowd is da bomb!

Who thinks Spanos will get his starting job back? My guess is the 300 lb AZ Frosh will be able to make "line calls" better than Spanos soon anyways. Matt isn't exactly know for his academic prowess...

I saw a little pack of emo kids at Ikea the other day. For some reason it made me laugh out loud.

It was as surreal as seeing a flock of goth kids at Disneyland.

Matthew is dead on. As soon as Matt Spanos is healthy, he will move right into the starting OL. He is highly regarded by the NFL scouts... as a center, OG, or OT. Can't beleive how people on this "blog" degrade players that get hurt, want to transfer, commit to other schools, etc.

First of all, "struggling" at USC means "doing well" at most other schools Wolfie

:o))

Second give them a break they only played 1 game and an extra scrimmage vs. Idaho

Third, screw Will Hill that's his loss. He could of played for the best team and instead he will spend 4 years getting beat up in the SEC

And lastly I am not as sold on Spanos as other people, I guess. the NFL people probably like him because he works out alot and has a perceived "nasty streak"

That's how you get drafted but O'Dowd has more natural talent

Scott Wolf

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
