USC cornerback Vincent Joseph returned home on the team plane Saturday night even though he was expected to stay in the hospital. USC coach Pete Carroll said Joseph wore a neck brace on the trip home after bruising his larynx.
I browsed The Big Red Board yesterday and most Cornhusker fans were very sympathetic to Joseph's injury. However, some did attribute the stoppage in play to the UN loss by stopping their momentum when Huskers led 10-7.
Also a small but measurable percentage thought USC milked the injury too much in an attempt actually steal momentum and muzzle the crowd.
I vistited friends in Nebraska when I was a student at USC and sported my USC t-shirts all around Lincoln. Even the hardcore 'Husker fans I met in sportsbars gave nothing but respect to the USC program.
Every fanbase has individuals who make excuses and/or have negative attitudes. In Nebraska's case I would call them an extremely small percentage.
