More Booty
John David Booty, on whether USC has a go-to receiver.
"(David Ausberry) the other day, he made catches," Booty said. "They're all really talented. We were not doing a whole lot with the passing game. We haven't opened it up like last season."

Comments
Just so everyone knows, Booty is doing fine. He is in the Heisman race which is all that matters at the beginning. Remember, Carson didn't really win it until the ND and UCLA games at the end of the season. And USC lost two games that season (KSU and WSU).
Now that he has a running game, Booty should put up great numbers.

I wouldn't say Booty is in the Heisman Race. It's more like hes hasnt done anything negative to take him out of it. The focus has been more so on the running game thus far.
Booty is playing a safe game of chess right now. He has plenty of time to impress the voters. As long as we are winning and he steps him numbers up somewhat he will be right there in December.

As much as I hate to pour gasoline on the Mitch Mustain fire, I saw this on ESPN in a Mel Kiper Jr. chat:
Otto (CA): If Mustain beats out Mark Sanchez next year, could Mark Sanchez be Matt Cassell 2.0 in that he didn't really get a shot in college?
Mel Kiper: That's a good comparison. Cassell was in the mix with Leinart and ended up being a late-round pick of the Pats. Sanchez has been in that program and has been in that offense, so it will be a surprise if he beats that out. Mustain had some shaky moments at Arkansas, even though he went 8-0-1 as a starter. Sanchez knows the offense and has been with that program longer. I would be surprised if Mustain beats Sanchez out. Sanchez had a very high grade coming out of high school.

TrojanEncore:
I agree with you 95%. The 5% on my arguments is:
-other QB's are making more noise with bigger numbers
-you got RB's making noise
-and yes, the flashy DeSean Jackson.
-it seems that just about anybody can beat ND. That will NOT help JDB. Would it NOT be funny if ND beats UCLA? Well Utah did, so WHY NOT? If ND does then it will be peaceful and quiet on the LA front!
-For JDB to be impressive and back on the Heisman race he has to put big numbers against Oregon and Cal.
Finally like they say a good RB is the QB best friend. He has that which should open the passing game.
Thank you
