About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

With Just Disgraceful Booty at QB, we have a GREAT QB!
Booty is GREAT.....about playing his worst in clutch situations. If any of you really think Booty is great, I suggest you watch last years USC UCLA game again.
Typical Ty, he likes to piss into the wind.
Just Disgraceful Booty tries hard, has a rocket of an arm, and seems like a nice guy.
BUT...
Full Stop. He locks on, gets passes tipped all the time, and can't scramble much at all. Sure, receivers dropped some balls, and every once in a blue moon the pass protection could be better, but in general he misfired all night last night.
Last night was a nice example of what we've seen since his inception in 2006.
I really hope his possible "injury" (LMAO! Right...) gets better and that he is 100% healthy when we start playing good teams in 3 weeks.
By then, the excuses should be over and we can see what he's capable of.
I never have been a JDB believer although I really have wanted to be. There are some teams out there with big, fast D lines, and I don't anticipate the SC team I saw last night, combined with the JDB I've seen in the last 2 years, could win many games against those teams.
In that sense, I would bet on an SC opponent, mainly because he is our QB!
Leinhart sucks. Booty would probaby do better than Leinhart in the NFL.
What Willingham should have said was: "We are a bunch of lucky SOBs, SC outgained us 450-190 but gave us 3 gift TDs, plus a whole bunch of penalties to keep the score close and make us look good."
I agree with ericb: the Trojans could not have played worse. They gave the dogs all their points; JDB was awful; we had 16 penalties and we 5 starters out...and yet UW was never really in it.
All of this shows how big the talent gap is.
wwwwaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
We win, Ty! Believe it!
I don't blame Ty for saying that. The Trojans played like St. Mary's HS!
I've been saying it for a year and a half now, JD Booty is this team's achilles heel. Once again 2 passes batted down @ the line of scrimmage, about 5 or 6 passes thrown behind receivers, cannot scramble to save his life, locks onto his first target too often and most importantly FLAT OUT SUCKS! This LOUSIANA SPY is going to cost the Trojans a game or two like last year. Its a shame the coaches don't see this! Flashback to the USC/UCLA game last year, I believe if Sanchez was handed the ball in 2nd half we would've gotten the touchdown needed to win. I see the same type of fire and intensity in Sanchez that the bruins see in Patrick Cowan.
I VOTE ITS TIME TO SEE WHAT SANCHEZ CAN DO!
Oh by the way garyD, 2 things: learn to spell and keep in mind LEINART went 37-2 as a starter in 3 years. Booty already has 2 losses in one season.
Why Thank You Scott,
You are the King of the "Out of Context." Do you even listen to half the things you report about? When he said that, he was asked what he told his players prior to the game, and the quote was something like "don't believe the hype or we will have already lost the game." That has nothing to do with his opinion of SC, but the mindset that his players needed to have in order to not be psyched out before they even started. Not even to mention, this was something he told them prior to the game - not as a result of the way SC had played so far.
uh scott...I highly doubt Ty had time to jump into a radio interview in the middle of a college football game he is coaching...
and like frosty said, he did make a comment like "I told players not to believe the hype or they will lose"
but, I can see Ty running his mouth..at that point he thought he had a chance for an upset and had brass balls..too bad he couldn't carry it out
hahaha
sorry...damn typekey again
frosty_nerd,
If you're right I'm not at all surprised. Scott does stuff like this all the time. If he would only use his unprecedented access to the best program in the country to really just report the truth he would be one of the most respected sports journalists in LA today. What other reporter has the kind of access Scott has (to what is virtually LA's NFL team) to any other team in LA?
Scott would have enough positive and negative stories to make several sports journalism careers many times over.
Instead he decides time and time again to try to manufacture his stories. The weakest kind of reporting. Take any comment, chop it in half, add a question mark to the end of the title so you can't be sued for libel, and there you have Scott's technique in a nutshell.
For example, let's say I told you the following quote: "A lot of people think Scott Wolf's a douche but he really gets a lot of great information about the USC program."
In this blog that quote would read like this: "Tyler says everyone thinks Scott Wolf is a douche". See how that works.
It's not the first time he's been caught using quotes out of context and it won't be the last.
I would say that I'm disappointed but I'm really not. Everything I read here I always take with a huge block of salt.
As far as what he'd seen at that time, Ty was right.
Ty needs to worry about his own house. Since he left Stanford, he's NOTHING!!! His Dogs ain't either!
I think we went into Seattle knowing that they were nothing. We obviously weren't prepared for this game and we will certainly learn a lesson from it. We still beat his nothing team even though we did everything possible to hand them the game or at least allow them to remain in it.
I'll be amazed it Ty wins two conference games this season.
totally out of context once again scott. irresponsible reporting at its best!
Believe the hype about Jake Locker. We get to see him, what, at least 2 more years? I'm not convinced he's a winner, but he is one hell of an athlete and a competitor.
When LSU loses to FSU next week, people will start to realize that #1 is about winning, even if the wins are ugly. Washington is not that bad of a team and has always gotten a tremendous advantage from their crowd. We lost two linemen and the only way they stayed with us was with what we gave them. They did not step up and take anything from us.
Tyler is 100% correct regarding Scott. Wolf violates Journalism 101's first rule: a reporter reports the news, he doesn't make the news. Don't make the mistake of using the word "reporter" in the same sentence with "Scott Wolf."
I'm not sure what Scott's point is however it seems a few of his recent sequence of post here are to insight the anger of Trojan fans.
How would a coach have time to say something like that at Half Time?
Not that anybody is going to read this late-post, but I just read a Seattle paper and Ty indeed did have a very short session with the local radio station, and he did say not to believe the hype.
So the intrepid Scott Wolf scores again. Think what you will about this newspaper man, but he takes the criticism on this blog without fighting back. Still, not voting for our Trojans this week in the AP, and costing us undisputed No. 1, and then BRAGGING about it, cost him my vote as a decent man.
I read the same thing, and the context was within the "don't believe the hype or we will lose" cliche that all coaches recite.
Lawyer John if you can't see that, then I really feel sorry for your clients.
BTW: Scott has to take the criticism. It's all about driving hits to the blog.
You are right, Desmo, I should not have commented about second-hand information (a newspaper account) without having had the benefit of hearing it first-hand (the actual radio broadcast). I will be more careful.
