This may seem minor, but having great scout team QB's like Mustain and Corp is really gonna help the defense.
I remember the USC players saying they didn't have anyone who could even come close to mimicking Vince Young before the Rose Bowl (but what team did) Maybe they would have played better had they had that.
Now with Corp, we have a tall athletic QB to help prepare for the Dixons and Lockers. And a great dropback passer like Mustain to help with the Longshores and Carpenters.
We'll see if that helps now that the Pac-10 season is in full swing.

Next year I just want the best player to start whether it is Sanchez, Mustain, or someone else. Although, I think that Sanchez has earned the position because of the time he has spent waiting for the starting job and because he has been around the offense longer; he probably understands it more.

This Mustain boy is something else. Everything I keep hearing about him in practice, including what Scott is now saying, impresses me more each day. A wonderful talent and I am so glad he is now a Trojan. I see big things for this boy in 2008.
Fight on!

Good for Mitch. I don't care how long someone has been in the program; if they are the best at their position, they should start regardless of length of time at SC.
If Mitch is the best QB after a year (which he appears to be), he should start, period. Tenure means nothing with Carroll.

Sounds consistent with everything I have heard coming out of practice. Mustain has been just lights-out in practice and continues to get even better. Mustain will start next year and nothing can stop him. He is THE MAN!

What a great way to start off the morning, reading about America's Quarterback, Mitch Mustain, and the stellar job he continues to do on the field.
Thanks, Scott. Keep up the good work!
Mustain in 2008!

What a very modest young man. That's how you earn the respect of your teammates.

Wolf brought up Mustain on his own.
Just wanted to point that out.

Blame it on Leinart.
If he turns pro after Jr, year then Booty is likely in NFL now. Sanchez is starter this year and Mustain has an uphill battle in '08 to dethrone a starting QB. Or Mustain never transfers with the QB procession more clearly defined.

Trojan&Tonic:
Another way to look it is, Leinart should be thanked. Without his decision to come back for one more year, we would never be in a position to see Mitch Mustain start in 2008.
So well after Leinart has left the campus of USC, his influence is still felt.

Didn't take long for TrojanSAEqueerForMustainNYC and his apoplectic acolytes to come out of the woodwork once Woofie threw down some fresh Mustain-meat. As predictable as the sun. Pac10 schedule begins in two days; time to get a new shtick.

Thanks for this, Scott. It's been quite a great week for Mustain. That young man surely does have tremendous talent and various other reporters have noticed too.
Mustain will be a great leader next year and can take us to a national championship. I predict he will win the Heisman Trophy in 2009.
