Signal Stealing
In case you didn't see today's paper, here's what I wrote on Pete Carroll and signal stealing.
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was recently fined $500,000 for stealing defensive signals, but it wasn’t the first time the team’s coach drew such an accusation. USC coach Pete Carroll said the Miami Dolphins thought he stole signals when he was the Patriots coach.
The controversy occurred in1997 when the Patriots beat the Jimmy Johnson-coached Miami Dolphins three times in a single season.
``(Linebacker) Todd Collins intercepted (quarterback) Dan Marino for a touchdown in a game and they thought we stole their signals,’’ Carroll said. ``We also had (running back) Keith Byars and he played for them the year before and he remembered their audibles, which means nothing. But they changed their playbooks the next year. I thought it was hilarious.’’

They shouldn't be bothering PC they should be grilling Charlie "I had Pete Carroll's number in the NFL" Weis, or the evil emperor, as I call him, and his young evil apprentice Darth Vader, or Jimmy Clausen as he is still known. He of the "we will NEVER lose to USC if I am QB"
I mean, isn't Bill Bellichoke his idol? The guy who he patterns his life after?
Everyone steals signals. Not everyone videotapes them for posterity. That's the part of the whole fiasco people don't seem to get. It's one thing to steal signals with binoculars and jot them down hurriedly during a game. It's another to tape them and have them to watch at half time in DVD form.
