Trojan Hangover?

There were jokes within the football program that Michigan suffered "Trojan hangover" last week. Based on today's debacle, it's more likely "Buckeye hangover."
That Rose Bowl victory is losing value by the week.

Curse of the Schembechler.

"That Rose Bowl victory is losing value by the week."

What a stupid comment.

New season, new team.

I normally defend Scott Wolf at every turn. But in this case I agree with Turkued.

Scott, you are an idiot.

Drama queening for attention once again. Jesus...

In defense of Michigan, they did lose 4 guys from that side of the ball to the 1st two rounds of the NFL draft. But Lloyd Carr still sucks. Wonder if ND will score its first touchdown of the year on offense against the Wolverines? So much for Weiss the genius. I don’t recall Pete taking a step backwards in his third year, unless you call winning the ‘03 National Championship a step back. If Clausen continues to get sacked (I thinks Penn State had 5), then he won’t be around come Oct 20. Is he damaged goods (weak throwing arm) or is the fat-man just trying not to have him lose games? They can’t run the ball and don’t throw it down field. Recipe for slaughter. Notre Dame could actually go 0-8 before they play the service academies. Now those are some fans that should be crying … bless their pompous, arrogant asses.

Again with the comparison of teams from 2 different seasons. Are you serious with this!!

Is the Boise St win over OU losing value too since they lost to Washington today?

You should know better Scott. Teams are vastly different from one season to the other. This isn't the NFL. Coming int to this season everyone knew that Michigan's weakness was going to be on defense. They weren't that great to begin with last year and they lost a ton of their stud from last year. Including their best D-lineman and their shutdown CB.

But of course you don't care. You're just trying to be snarky and divisive. Nothing new here.

It's at once your greatest strength and the one thing that will prevent you from ever being taken seriously. That is if you really want to be a serious journalist.

Scott, we get it. Though an SC grad, you take extra pains through sarcasm, innuendo, and "unnamed sources" to devalue the accomplishments of the team over the past several seasons. Why?? In an effort to show you are not a homer, you go overoboard the other way.

How about reporting just the facts??

Again: Last year's Michigan team came into the Rose Bowl with an 11-1 record, with it's only loss coming to then #1 OSU. Last year's UM defense, as stated above by AlwaysBeatND, lost 4 players to the first 2 rounds of the NFL draft, and USC's offense still torched them in the second half of the Rose Bowl. Where's the love, Scott?

New season = new team..

Following up on AlwaysbeatND, Notre Dame is virtually unwatchable at this stage. Just awful. They must be kicking themselves for dumping Willingham to get Weiss.

Speed, speed and more speed that's what Michigan lacks big time. APPy ST. has it and Oregon has more. Lou Holtz during post game comments said exactly what I'm telling you that they(Michigan) lacks speed at key positions something they did NOT address during recruiting. Concerning Clausen and ND they don't have quality players to help any QB. ESPN Mark May stated before the season started that ND would be lucky to win 3-34 games.
Thank you

Why don't you just admit it already that you are a closet Bruin fan Scott. A true Trojan takes pride in their school.

Fight ON!!!

"That Rose Bowl victory is losing value by the week."

On a related note, Ohio State's 2002 Championship lost some of its luster today when Miami got pounded for 51 points versus Oklahoma. And SC's Orange Bowl victory over Oklahoma just get a boost from the same game...

Come on Scott, your entire line of reasoning is ridiculous.

Let's not forget that Marcus Vick lost all the value he gained from being vindicated as the good Vick brother when LSU handed VaTech its collective ass on a silver platter tonight.

SC didn't pick Michigan to play them in the Rose. The BCS idiots did. We showed up and played anyone who would play us. We pounded them. Done deal. Who cares if they now suck? Is Florida's national title now suspect because Ohio State has been less-than-impressive over their first two games a season later? Hardly... No revisionist history, Scottie.

What an idiotic comment Scott. The variables that have changed between this year and last year are countless. I wonder if you say stupid or outlandish things just to get a reaction.

This was a truth self evident from AS game.

USC is No.1. because of Rose Bowl game and hype from it. Now it appears Mich did well most of last year despite not so fast and poor d-backs.

LSU might take over as No.1. USC defense may turn out not in league of Wild Buch II and offense no match for 2005.

UCLA may have edge as unlike USC it gets best teams at home (except USC).

Wash,Oregon, Cal are going to be ver tough in road.

But there is a lot room for USC improvement. Key is getting players back, not losing so many more and who gets hurt on what other team.

Those that"idiotic" same teams, should look again. Mich stars came back. USC lots it two best receivers ever and best ever center, but bulk of team back.

Question not know is will it have will of 2003-2005 team and will players stupidly knock teammates onto the injury list during practice. When Turner returns he may provide leadership, you would think Sedrick and Lojo would be on defense. Pinkard may spark defense when he returns.

Another key is to stop turnover slide and bring heat. Does USC knockdown Keller?

But yes Wolf is right; Michigan win seems to no longer be such a bright light. Mich. battled with OSU who could not battle Florida. The Big Ten was exposed late last year and this.

USC blew last two NC. This year the road will be harder because of road trips. Cal and Oregon have equal or better skilled players. UCLA is emerging with Bell; something they lacked in the past.

Their win over USC last year is more meaningful than USC's over Mich.

BoscoH:
The MV's reference is totally uncalled for and worse yet it is irrelevant. With ALL due respect you have the wrong subject at the wrong time therefore I will NOT ask your point since there isn't any.
Thank you

Wolfie wolfie..

Trying to stir us up again...

The Wolverines had a great team in 2006, just look at the stats..what did they allow like 44 ypg rushing or something?

They had huge losses and have not filled them well or adjusted well..and their play calling is as predictable as ever..

And I am not buying what Morantz says either..

I have seen LSU play both games they don't impress me that much..yeah they got a good defense..so did Oklahoma when we played the NC game..They have no running game and about 1 offensive play..hike it, quick check and nope, no WR's are open, OK Flynn run with the ball

won't take PC and NH long to figure that one out..

Scott Wolf

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
