A Sellout?
Saturday's game against Arizona is an announced sellout. The first Los Angeles sellout of a USC/Arizona game since 12,000 crammed into Bovard Field on October 14, 1922.
But how many empty seats will there be for this ``sellout?'' The Stanford game had large areas of empty seats and that was when the Trojans were ranked No. 1 in some polls.

Is it a sellout if all the tickets are sold, or if only all the seats are filled? Depends on one's point of view, but in Scott Wolf's world, the glass is usually half empty.
I'll be honest, the last home game I missed was the last Stanford loss because I didn't think it would be interesting. Maybe others did the same thing last week.
I'll be honest, I've passed on a few Stanford games over the years because I didn't think they would be interesting. Maybe others did the same thing last week.
In its game by game chronology in its annual media guide, USC places a "c" ("capacity") next to games, generally, where all the seats were sold.
Some schools, most notably Notre Dame, announce a standard attendance figure whenever there has been a sellout. All the Irish games are sellouts, so the attendance for all of them is announced as 80,795, regardless of how many fans show up. Indeed, in next year's SC media guide, we can safely predict that the attendance for the Oct. 20th Notre Dame game will be listed as "c80,795."
I do not know what SC's actual policy is concerning attendance figures. Last year, all six home games were sellouts, but only two were announced at the Coliseum capacity of 92,000.
Don't hold those empty seats against SC fans. Almost 95% of the empty seats were in the student section. I still feel that they provide too many seats to the students. Students only turn out for the home opener. Even at last year's SC/nd game, there were empty seats in the SC student section bleachers on the field.
The reason those bleacher seats are empty is because those seats suck! Everyone crams into the real student section. why would i want to sit in the end zone? don't blame students for not sitting there.
I wouldn't miss this game for the world. Can't wait to see the dynamic change in our "O" with MS at the helm. We're all so excited.
Maybe they can have Hannah Montana sing the national anthem and do a medley of her hits at halftime to ensure SRO.
Her tour is the hottest selling arena ticket in 2007. Check stubhub for the insane prices.
You know better than anybody (you wrote about it) a larger block of seats has been allocated to the students to prevent a repeat of the debacle with the crush of students at the opening game. The huge block of emties was mostly in the student section. You conveniently neglected to mention that as it doesn't fit your chicken little style. It doesn't take a genius to see this team/staff has serious issues and seems likely to lose a couple more games. It doesn't take a genius to see this team hadn't accomplished much this year and is more hype than accomplishment. You seem to have a propensity for presenting the obvious as some sort of incredible insight on your part. You come across as having a very high opinion of your football acumen.
This game as well as the balance or games have been sold out for a few weeks. Its Parents Weekend and I understand there was a shortage of tickets for the many Parents wanting to attending the game.
The Stanford game was one that had not sold out. Plus as one poster above said it wasnt an attractive game going in. Im sure a number of fans including myself decided to pass up that game.
