Why does the Big East pay good money to inept replay officials? I thought that it was a drop during the live play, but thought I was wrong since no one was saying anything about it. Then NBC shows a clear shot of the ball hitting the ground and 2 seconds later the call on the field is "confirmed" as a catch.
If a ref makes a bad call, don't keep hiring them. If a ref makes a one time bad call, take $50 from their game money that week. If a ref makes bad calls they should not be on a replay crew. If a replay crew makes bad calls they should be demoted to regular ref. A replay should never make such a mistake when they have all the TV angles. If they can't get good referees for the current pay, then they need to increase the pay.
One of the worst calls I've ever seen in my life. The only thing I can figure, is that the replay booth never got the "money" shot from behind the Irish line that clearly showed the ball hitting the turf. All other angles were pretty inconclusive, but that shot, which was the last shot NBC showed before the ref announced that the call was confirmed, showed inconclusively that the ball hit the ground.
