Back On Campus
Matt Leinart came by USC tonight but did not stop at Howard Jones Field. However he did run into John David Booty while picking up his son, Cole, for the night.
According to Yahoo Sports, Leinart snapped at Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley during Sunday's game with the Steelers and told him to get out of his face and also glared at Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt.
``I just want them to ride or die with me," Leinart told Yahoo. "If I'm the franchise quarterback, play me and let me stumble, because I'll fight through it, and that will help me and our team in the long run. I know coaches want to win now, and I guess they have their reasons. But I don't understand it, and this switching back and forth is almost worse than getting benched."

Comments
I kind of agree with him...the revolving door QB situation never works out...

This blog is garbage.
The next two paragraphs:
"As he sat on the Arizona bench preparing to take the field with 11:33 remaining and the Cards holding a 14-7 lead, Leinart was approached by offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who began delivering a pep talk. Leinart snapped at Haley, with whom he has a good relationship, essentially telling him to get out of his face. Then the second-year quarterback rose, brushed past Haley and glared at Whisenhunt before taking the field.
'He reacted just the way I hoped he'd react,' Whisenhunt said afterward. 'He was mad, and he wanted to play. That's the sign of a competitor – of a guy who can be our franchise quarterback for a long time.'"
What's the point, Wolfie, with these obnoxiously out-of-context quotes? Are your editors demanding that you "push the envelope" so that you create a blog "jungle" where commenters can come here, talking their "smack." I understand that the most sports blogs tend to go for the humorous (Deadspin, KSK, With Leather) or the unhinged (Bruins Nation), and I understand that you aren’t a funny writer, but with these increasingly petty and spiteful posts, maybe the Daily News "empire" must be more desperate for readers than previously believed to be. These recent posts, taken together with that out-of-context DWP salary editorial/story the DN just splashed across their front page, seem to signal that the DN is trying to go the NY Post route. Good luck with that in a in a market with no broadsheet tabloid history to speak of and where the majority of residents do not speak English as a first language.
Leinart isn't exactly the most down-to-earth guy around, and he certainly has set himself up for celebrity-gossip-style teardowns, but man, these out-of-context quotes that are piling up around here either mean 1.) you're desperate for hits; 2.) you have nothing to write about; 3.) you have the reading comprehension skills of the average OK Weekly reader; 4.) blog stats show that a good percentage of your traffic comes from Bruins Nation; or 5.) you are one cynical, burned-out dude. Maybe it's all of the above. Eleven years on the USC beat is probably six or seven years too long.
Anyway, other than the injury reports, this blog is worthless. I'm outta here. Enjoy the lucid comments of John Redcorn.

"ride or die"
Funny. But if we're going to use colloquialisms
"If you're going to talk the talk, you've got to walk the walk."
Good luck to Matt, but he needs to prove himself in the time he's given on the field.

Look I'm the biggest Matt Leinart supporter in the world but he needs to decide if its more important for him to be a top level NFL QB or a celebrity. Can't be both in this day in age.

I don't believe Scott Wolf liked Matt Leinart much, which could account for biased reporting.
I don't care about Leinart's personal life, and I don't like the passionless NFL. For me, nothing will detract from the fact that Leinart was probably the greatest college quarterback, and that he turned down millions to return for his senior year at SC. Now, if he would only show Booty how to throw the long one, his legacy would be complete.

Desmo will come back.
I hope Leinhart proves me wrong but until then he sucks. I thought he would come up big this year but instead looks like a 40 year old qb who can't evade the rush or throw. Too many parties at Area or Cabana Club I believe.
