Bernard Improves
Here's Oregon State coach Mike Riley on the status of tailback Yvenson Bernard.
``Well, we certainly like to have him. We got some good news as far as the MRI. He’s got a sprained shoulder. It’s not dislocated, so it’s really going to be a day-to-day thing. It’s pretty darn sore, I’ll tell you that. I’m sure he will want to play. If we come to the point where he won’t reinjure it or where we are putting him at risk, then we will see about Thursday. Right now, I would say it’s just day-to-day and the news is pretty good from the reports that we go.”

Comments
Bernard is the real deal, but his likely unavailability might account for the 16-point betting spread. Still, would you lay 16 at this point of the SC season?

Lawyer John,
Bernard is the real deal, but Oregon's O-line is not. If he plays he will play with significant pain and wont have his usual success as the tough runner that he is known to be. USC’s real test will be against the statistically stingy OSU defense. In my book the jury is still out on how good they are. They played a beat up Cal and a hobbled Longshore and company still managed to put 28 points on the board. I have recorded and watched three of their games and even though they seem to be improving, I really don’t think they can hang with USC this year. I’m a Trojan fan this week.

Duckmann91, welcome back. I always figured you were probably a closet Trojan. Does this mean you are going to become a regular on the SC blog?

Duckman, what do you think about the dust up between Belotti's wife and the Oregonian reporter John Canzano? It was featured in Stewart Mendel's SI rankings today so I read it.
It seems Mrs. Belotti confronted and threatened a columnist who had reported a story about Belotti's son getting multiple DUIs and not being disciplined in the same manner as the rest of the team. Apparently Mrs. Belotti went on a "drunken and profanity laced tirade" aimed at the columnist that forced the SID to intervene and place a security guard in place. I'm sure you could read about it on the Oregonian's site. It was a pretty interesting read about the Belotti family to say the least.

If he plays we got trouble..the defense can only hold them for so long while snow white and the seven dwarfs run more reverses on 4th and 1..

I think it's time we bury the hatchet with ND.
I am a pretty big ND hater but it's time we got to know our buddies from South bend a little better.
Why?
We have the same problem..a team with alot of talented players withas a coaching staff/OC THAT ARE CLUELESS
go Irish

If I am welcome I would love to check in with you all from time to time. With re: to the “incident”, you probably know as much as I do. The Oregonian sports writer Canzano (who seems to have something against the Bellottis) wrote a piece condemning Luke’s behavior and the apparent lack of coach Bellotti’s control over his son. He also called into question the possibility of special treatment. The Register Guard also printed a small bit about Luke’s legal plea and team suspension. Other than the messy bit about the pissed of Mom in the press box this is all I know. Here is the link to the RG story.
