Bush Push
Charlie Weis was asked about the USC-Notre Dame game two years ago at South Bend and snuck in a reference to the Bush Push.
``You've got to give it to them. Got to give it to the coach, got to give it to the quarterback, because it was ultimately his decision. You've got to give it to the running back for helping aid them in getting in there, a heads-up play.
I can whine all I want, but it was a heck of a game. I just wish it would have ended the other way.''

That play had nothing to do with the coach or the quarterback. It was an "in the moment" move by Bush. And I think Leinart scores even without the help.
The "Bush Push" was one of the most over-hyped aspects of a play I can ever remember seeing.
So much was made of Reggie giving Matt a helping hand into the endzone because, by the letter of the law, it was not legal. But how many times have you seen an offensive lineman push the pile when a running back gets stood up in the middle of the field??? Darned near every play. Linemen are ALWAYS doing that exact thing and it NEVER gets called.
Seriously. That play is never, ever, evereverever called. It happens at least 20 times each game and I've yet to see it called, so why was it such a big deal? The media probably should have made a bigger deal out of Leinarts fumble out of bounds and the questionable nature of it going forward/backward/into the endzone. I think there's more of a beef to that play than the Bush Push.
I hope the Fat Man gets his chow down now, because he's going to lose his appetite after the Trojans are done with him on Saturday.
Weis has been saying the same thing since his first press conference after the game. I believe he straight out said he would expect any of his players to do the same thing.
Let it go.
