Home Field Advantage

Oregon State has not defeated USC at the Coliseum since 1960, a span of 20 straight games.
“Our kids don’t have to bear the burden of 40 years in the Coliseum. We are aware of the circumstances of our history, but we don’t dwell on it,'' Oregon State coach Mike Riley said.

That streak should continue.

If one flips a coin and it comes up heads 20 straight times, it still does not change the odds of 50-50 on the next toss. I think SC deserves its favoritism this week, but I would give the Beavers a fighting chance. Prediction-- 24-17 Troy.

USC should fare better this week. You can't blame last week's loss on the defense, probably the best in the P10. Oregon could've scored 50+ last weekend against a different team. With Booty back, hopefully the offense should put more points on the scoreboard; I'm not blaming Sanchez, I blame the coaching staff for slimming down the playbook too much and not trusting him. However, the biggest concerns I still have are dumb penalties and special teams mistakes - don't the coaches see (and try to fix) what we as fans see? Hopefully they will address these concerns before Cal and UCLA.

I agree on the Sanchez comment. Why slim the playbook so he doesn't make mistakes when he is going to make mistakes anyways. Not blaming Sanchez, but rather, if we are going to go down, lets go down blazing and trying to do something special.

Streak ends Saturday.

After our 25th bubble screen of the game to Hazelton and the subsequent punt + -15 yard penalty vs. USC, the USC defense will be completely worn out and any retard could score on them, just like that kid from Stanford did.

OSU 29
USC 21

ex-sportswriter they can see it but won't do anything to fix it.

That's the maddening part.

They sit in their ivory tower, "I am pete carroll I know all" and think the QB has to be "brought along slowly" like, 2 years slowly, until he is at the Leinart/Palmer level. Until they are at that level, and the RB's are like Bush/White, they don't trust them at all and take 99 pages out of the 100 page playbook and treat them like imbeciles.

They can't see that maybe they never will be as good as Leinart but that's Ok throw it anyway, and maybe Stafon is not quite Lendale but that's OK..they keep "weaning the QB" and saying "We trimmed the playbook down to his level"..except it's irrelevant now because in a few months JDB is off to the NFL..(hopefully)

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
