While Mark Sanchez gains valuable experience filling in for John David Booty, imagine the decision the coaches would have if Mitch Mustain were eligible. Mustain said Monday he's not antsy to play right now.
``I have too much of the offense to learn,'' he said. ``I'm happy to watch.''

Mitch appears to be a very humble guy. If he were eligible this year, he would have 100% started over Sanchez, especially after Sanchez's performance on Saturday.

Fight on, Mitch!

The expert's joke of the day:
"he would have 100%"started over Sanchez". 100% started, is that the new the new English language? The starving joker is also amnesic! The starving joker forgot that Arkansas Houston Nutt benched MM after so many INT's in favor of Casey Dick. Then MM bellyached to mommy and daddy and decided to transfer to USC. Obviously MM was very smart to respond in a very humble manner which is NOT the same that can be said of the starving joker.
Good day

Mr. Wolf posts this "news" about Mustain at 2:57 in the morning. The man lives and breathes Mustain. What a life!

Door Prize:

You are a very desperate man. Let's be honest, Sanchez's performance was embarrassing. Everything people said was wrong with his game in practice came to the forefront in a game situation. Even though USC won, we still dropped in the rankings because it was such a poor performance.

Sanchez, as has been mentioned over and over again, is a turnover machine. Interceptions, incompletes, sacks, etc. He cannot read defenses at all and his timing is dreadful.

I thought you said you would never attack another player, yet you have spent this week attacking both Booty and Mustain. Hypocrisy, no?

Booty will be back soon and we'll never see Sanchez start again at USC.

Stupid post by Door Prize (yes, I know, that's redundant).

If you want to say things like that about Mustain, should we start talking about how Sanchez was arrested and went to jail for raping a student? Should we start mentioning his many off the field issues?

Don't come on a USC blog and start something regarding players from a university you never attended and have no affiliation with. If you do, the person you support will be attacked many times over by others. You end up doing more harm for your player than any good.

Have a good day!

So...it's not ok to pick on Mitch Mustain, but it is ok to call Sanchez an embarrasment and a rapist with numerous off field issues?
Wow! So if someone criticizes St. Mitch, I guess it's ok to throw the guy who will probably start this week under the bus.
How about next time, just call Door Prize an idiot and move on. No need to insult another Trojan player.

If MM was so great, how come he couldn't beat out Dick? Dick's stats are awful this year!

Hype On!

Hey Bill, by that same token, if Booty is so bad, how come he'll get the starting job back the moment his finger is sufficiently healed and Sanchez will go back to the bench again? If Booty is bad, then Sanchez is REALLY bad!

Here is something to get fired up about:

The current prediction from CBSSportsline:

Holiday Dec. 27 San Diego ESPN Pac-10 No. 2 vs. Big 12 Southern California vs. Texas Tech

And they are calling that an "if" for USC..seems like they will probably move us down further to the Meineke bowl or something..

"if Mitch Mustain was eligible."

If I had wheels I'd be a bicycle and if my aunt had a pair she'd be my uncle. Another non-story story from Mr. Simmons. Go back to sweatin' to the oldies and bring on someone who can report on things that are actually happening in the land of Troy.

Gimme a break.

Bill, Door Prize, 13-9ers, et. al.

Who visits a blog covering a team they dislike just to troll? This isn't even a forum; just a bunch of post comments.

Seriously, get a life.

Why is USC suddenly so eager to import southern quarterbacks????

Palmer and Leinart were good enough

In time Sanchez and Corp will be good enough

Mark played fine with all the O_Line issues. I do question why this was even asked though??? He is not eligible, there is no way in hell that he can become eligible, so what is the point? You all got baited and Hooked by Wolfie on this one.

This one is for Desmond!! Beat the Fat Man!!! We need to rally around this team now!!!! Not nit pick them to death!!!

What I said of MM is true. What is so hypocritical about that? Since when the truth is an attack? I also sincerely complimented MM for his humble demeanor. Sánchez' performance was NOT great but it was NOT the end of the world, either. He was supported by a heavily patched-up OL(fact). He threw 2 INT's. One of them was his fault. The first one ROJO did a lousy job with his route running and did NOT come back for it like a good receiver is supposed to(fact). JDB threw SIX INT's against WA and Stanford with a much healthier OL(Fact/facts). Except for Fred Davis who has been consistent with both JDB and MS the rest of the receivers keep dropping passes after six games(fact). ALL the offensive coaches should share the fault for that during practices. What is wrong with the receivers coach? The receivers are talented but they are NOT performing like they should. In other blogs Sánchez has been evaluated fairly except on this one and we ALL know WHY, don't we?
Thank you

While I would have loved to see Mustain play against Stanford, like LBC_Rob said above, this is 2007 and he can’t play…but apparently everyone still has Mustain on the mind!

And hypothetically, how well do you guys really think Mustain would have played against Arizona with 4 of his 5 starting lineman out, USC’s top 2 running backs out, and a wide receiving corp. that just hasn’t stepped up this year (with the exception of Fred Davis).

If you don’t have an O-Line that can protect the QB, you don’t have anybody running the ball effectively to open up the passing game and your receivers can’t catch the ball…it doesn’t really matter who your QB is unless his name is Vince Young.

In the 4th quarter Sanchez showed a real “desire” to win (that we haven’t seen this year from Booty) and some athleticism (that we haven’t seen this year from Booty), and coupled with McNight’s spark, Sanchez helped USC grind out a W. So I am not quite ready to write Sanchez off, and I look forward to seeing what he can do in South Bend.

Brando - “Why is USC suddenly so eager to import southern quarterbacks????”…do you really care where someone comes from if he is a great player that can make USC better? USC has always recruited the Top So Cal talent, but the reason that SC keeps getting top rated recruiting classes is because it can simultaneously get the top rated national players from Texas, Florida, Arizona, New Jersey, etc. as well.

Door prize, what you said is not true. Not a shred of truth. Not one word was true. You do not know the truth about Mustain at Arkansas, and people at USC know the entire truth. If you do not know about something, I suggest you shut up and try not to make an ass of yourself. It simply highlights your ignorance and casts the spotlight on the fact that you are an outsider with no ties to USC.

There are no excuses for Sanchez's performance against Arizona. None. This is USC, you are expected to play at the highest level. Anything less is unacceptable. Even Pete called Sanchez out after the game and he rarely, if ever, has done that about a player in the seven seasons he has been the coach at USC. Have you ever heard Pete call out another player who started running around for his life out there and missed a lot of reads? I can't think of one other example. So am I going to take your opinion or Pete's opinion?

JJH4USC- USC has 7 Heisman winner in their history....all from California! Pete Carrol, because of his success, has put a recruiting wall around California. Homegrown talent has no need to flee the SEC or Big 10 schools anymore.
California has all the talent we need to keep the dynasty alive.

USCinema:
PC himself has been quoted as stating using back-up's to back up the OL due to injuries. Those are facts and do NOT diminish the competition standards. You can call me whatever you want I stand by what I said. I have had PM's from Arkansas blogger that said the same thing concerning MM. MM was benched in favor Casey Dick because of too many INT's. That is a fact. His bellyaching and his parents involved and complaining about MM benching is also a fact. In fact it is also documented in other web sites as well as Arkansas newspapers related articles which I have read, mister. I give you a hint check the TSN blogs and ask other USC and Arkansas fans. IF there is an A$$ with a big damn mouth you are the one, mister.
Brando:
Everybody knows that USC has had SEVEN trophy Heisman winners. Everybody also knows that ALL of them are from California. It is also documented that when PC took over his main agenda in order to restore USC's FB program reputation is to recruit well in "our own backyard". Please save your damn pompous lectures. You sound like USCinema. Have you heard of John Huarte? He graduated from Mater Dei HS. The only HS in the nation to graduate two Heisman trophy winners. Could be three if Colt Brennan wins. What is point or recruiting complaint? I am afraid you don't have one. If you do quit messing around and spill your guts.
JJ:
Thanks for pointing out Sánchez' intangibles. If the word is too fancy for some of you how about making plays with guts, sweat, blood and soul? Again I have posted the same on other threads on this blog. On other blogs that has been posted clearly and emphatically by me and other USC fans. That is a fact. It is also a fact that as a result of that gutsy scramble for a crucial first down that ate the clock NOT only did it help USC to win the game it also earned Sánchez the respect from the rest of the team.
Thank you

USCinema:
I have defended this country and I gave a bunch of years of my life doing it. This a FREE country which means:
1. I have FREEDOM of speech and I can say what the hell I want.
2. I can root for whatever team in whatever sport I want.
3. IT is damn childish for you and the rest of you to claim some funny rights and ownership just to throw in my face everytime that I did NOT attend USC.
4. You guys sound like Hitler you are Jewish and you do not have blond hair and blue eyes therefore you are NOT one of us go to the back of the bus.
5. Save it you prejudiced morons.
6. Those interested check:

Thank you

Those interested I forgot to mention that John Huarte(ND) won the Heisman in 1964 while Matt Leinart won it in 2004. Assuming Colt Brennan(Hawaii) wins the Heisman it will make it three from the same HS. The info obtained from heisman.com
Thanks

Assuming Colt Brennan wins the Heisman is assuming a lot. He is nothing more than a system QB.

TROBOB:
Did you read the whole thing? Once damn more, did you read the whole damn thing? Obviously NOT. Have you ever heard that there are more than one sentence in a freaking paragraph? According to your logical trend(if we can call it that) you conclude by just reading one sentence. You really have a remarkable reading level=MORONIC BOOL$#*t.

TROBOB:
[IF] Colt Brennan wins the Heisman it would make three HS graduates from Mater Dei HS. ARE you happy and clear? I am sick and tired of your half way, out of context BS, OK?

Door Prize -

What you are saying about Mustain is not a fact. Anyone can say anything but that does not make it a FACT. So if I say something to a UCLA fan about Sanchez, will that make it a fact? If I PM a Notre Dame fan and say Sanchez sells drugs to students, will that make it a fact? Think before you make your thoughts public. Lack of logic is clearly a issue with you.

You do not know why Mustain was benched at Arkansas and Pete Carroll does. It had nothing to do with interceptions. It had everything to do with Houston Nutt. If Mustain were so bad, why did Pete recruit him? Why have both Pete and Steve Sarkisian been raving about Mustain to alumni? Why have they not been raving to alumni about Sanchez?

Do not speak when you do not know the truth.

It doesn't matter anyway because JD Booty will be back soon and everything will be back to normal. No more interceptions from Sanchez.

Fight On!

Mustain has been running through the first team defense every day and has been earning major kudos from PC, Sark and the players. Reporters have picked up on this. Sanchez has struggled every day against weak competition in practice (usually third string and walk ons), then demonstrated that against a very, very weak Arizona defense. And THAT is a fact!

Beat the Irish!

I know everyone is a little frustrated with the team...but tell me again why we are arguing about a football player that isn't eligible to play this year?

Call me crazy...but I just don't understand why everyone can't get behind and support the healthy (there aren’t many) and eligible players that are trying to get the present team back on track.

This is going to be a VERY LONG summer where the Mustain v. Sanchez debate will reach a whole new level...but we are in the middle of the 2007 season and have at Notre Dame, at Cal, at Oregon, at Arizona State, Oregon State and UCLA coming up!

wino drinker:
Did you read? Do you know how to read? Do you know how to count? MM was benched din favor of Casey Dick because he threw too many INT's>FACT>IT. That is documented>IT. I am NOT touching the MM anymore because arguing with narrow minded in denial usual suspects. Are you amnesic? Didn't JDB throw SIX INT's in his last two games? Did you watch PC's news conference? It might be on Ipod. If NOT try to read the transcripts. Let me remind you about your reading problem. Despite his two INT's-one actually was a bad play. How many times have you seen JDB roll out of the pocket and throw with authority? PC himself complimented that athleticism shown by Sánchez in his press conference. Can JDB scramble and snake his way into a first down with the ease and smoothness of Sánchez? PC also positively commented about that. The ONLY way MM beats out MS next year if he walks on water and become Moses II the next Messiah! BTW according to experts Arizona has one of the best secondaries in the nation.
Thank you

Everytime Sanchez plays, he makes a strong case for why Mustain will start next year. No way in this world will Sanchez ever beat out Mustain. I am glad Sanchez got to play in place of the injured Booty, so people could see just how horrendous he is and embarrassing his antics are on the field.

The biggest indicator to me in the coaches lack of faith in Sanchez was the fact they kept Booty in with a BROKEN MIDDLE FINGER ON HIS THROWING HAND against Stanford, even with a two score lead and after it became apparent Booty couldn't feel a damn thing and passes were soaring on him.

Enough said.

USCinema:
Where were you last year? MS had JDB beat in practice until his alleged mess. MM is supported by and the rest of the usual suspects. MM beat Auburn the ONLY decent team he beat(fact). MM threw a bunch of INT's resulting in his trip to the bench in favor of Casey Dick(fact). MM played with a healthy OL(two of them are playing in the NFL) and a great RB(possible 1st rd RB next draft). JDB had a pretty healthy OL and threw SIX INT's against WA and AZ. Your self contradiction reinforces the point of JDB's INT's NOT to mention the embarrassing loss. How about that? Get your facts together and stop posting BS.
Thnx
