That is written with the tone of a jealous Bruin. I don't read the DN's coverrage of UCLA, but is it approached from the perspective of a Trojan?

Well that depends Scott.
If USC was No. 1 in the BCS today and was 6-0 (pulling out a W against Stanford)...then USC would be overrated based on its performances to date.
…but, USC is No. 14 in the BCS today, which is probably about right. However, if USC goes on a tear and plays some inspired football, and wins 5 its next 6 games (at Notre Dame, at No. 12 CAL, at No. 10 Oregon, at No. 8 Arizona State, Oregon State and UCLA)....and heads to a BCS Game…then I would say USC’s No. 14 BCS rating was underrated.
…I guess what I am saying is USC has half a season of football to find its identity…I look forward to watching the next 6 games!

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and more yes! Overhyped and overrated! Plus, sanctions are right around the corner!!
Every team has injuries!! Stanford had a bunch of players injured and you still choked against them!!!
Choke On!

This is not written from the perspective of a jealous Bruin. It is written from the perspective of a self-loathing person. Wolfe appears to be a person who must have had such a miserable time at school and have had his "feelers" hurt by the current football program.
I used to think he just tried overly hard to stay unbiased but I don't think that is true.
I think that he is the only beat writer in America that really truely seems to hate the team he follows at a personal level.
Most every college or professional team have commentators and reporters that "love" their team too much. I think of Ron Santo and the Chicago Cubs. That guy roots harder than anyone FOR the Cubs.
You can almost detect giddyness the recent few weeks in Wolfe.
Maybe Wolfe should see if he can get a different job. I think both he and the fans would be happier for it.
Could you imagine how long Wolfe would last covering and SEC team?!

Yeah, I get it about the turnovers, but minus 6 on the season is only one turnover per game. Easily overcome. But if you can't block, run the ball, throw it down field, or catch it...you lose. If your defense runs out of gas in the 4th quarter on top of that, you most definitely lose. And yeah, you can't block and run partly because of the injuries. The lack of catching should be blamed on the coaches. They didn't develop the guys (save Fred) for this year's team sufficiently because of past reliance on Smith, Jarrett and McFoy. Didn't SC coaches blame the domers struggles THIS YEAR on playing 20 seniors LAST YEAR?
