Just Asking
USC led 23-17 with about four minutes left and John David Booty nursing a broken fingertip. The Trojans then called three straight pass plays from their own 46 instead of running down the game clock.
Do all the Lane Kiffin-haters still think the playcalling's changed tremendously this season?

Well, that was just horrible. I'll tell you though. There is a new sheriff in the state and his name is Jim Harbaugh. I thought his post-game interview was like Pete Carroll in his prime squared. He just wanted to go be with his players. PC is going to have to raise his game to a whole new level if he wants a chance at the top of the Pac-10 in the next 2-3 years. If Stanford can go .500 this year, Harbaugh is gonna out recruit everyone. That is the kind of coach kids want to play for.

Bosco, I think you might be underestimating the academic factors that will limit Stanford from out recruiting everyone.
I wasn't a big Kiffin fan, and I thought that Sarkisian had opened things up a bit more with the passing game, but tonight looked a lot like last year. There was even a glimmer of Paul Hackett on the field with Washington running up the middle on 4th and short after running the same play on 3rd and short and calling a time out.
Well, it looks like the angry masses might get their way next week. If John David Grossman didn't get hurt tonight, he still probably played himself out of starting next week. It looks like opportunity is knocking at the door of Mark Sanchez, our own honorary Brian Griese. Great. Bring in MacDonald!

At least the Bruins could beat Stanford on the road! What happened to the 70 points you were going to put on them! Bye Bye Petey! Harbaugh may be right!

Poor play-calling, clock management, and O-line were major contributors. How is that Stanford D-line dominated virtually the entire game?

I was one of the Kiffin bashers, and I stand by that bashing. This season, I haven't had reason to complain, and have been pretty happy with the playcalling. Saturday's game was just a complete mess from every aspect - play calling, playing, performance - you name it, it sucked moist ass!
NC hopes are likely dashed, but winning out would still mean a Rose Bowl berth, so there is still some chance for redemption.
