Scott, between Booty and Sanchez, who do you think has the most NFL potential? Was Booty smirking on the sidelines this weekend watching Sanchez's performance, or was he too worried about losing his job?
What is your criteria for your grading of USC Football? Is it the same that Modesti has used in the past for UCLA Football or do you grade the Trojans using the AP Grading Rubric? Would you be willing to share your rubric/criteria for grading with the general public or do you grade out the games in private as PC does?
That's a lot of questions but really it's only one: Can you list your grading policy to the general public so we can play along at home?
Now that Joe M. is finally getting more touches each game, can we finally find a place for Rojo? This guy is explosive and should be used for more than just kickoff returns and 1-2 passes per game. He is the other game-breaker that is missing. Wouldn't his presence create more worries for an opposing defense? He'd give more space to the other receivers on the field. Agree?
Can you tell me why pundits emphasize playing at home versus on the road? Over any weekend you can here it said about 50 times, "so & so did this or that and you just can't do that ON THE ROAD!" Well, all of the things they say you can't do on the road, you can't do at home either and hope to win. Traveling is hard and I realize there is an advantage of being at home, and the road crowd can interfere with hearing, but you're on the same gridiron and once the ball is snapped isn't it the same game?
Why do you think Dennis Dixon has made such a large impact this year (people have him as a Heisman candidate) compared to last year when he seemed completely lost against the Trojans?
Scott, I've heard that Booty is anywhere between 6'0'' to 6'4'' and that Sanchez is anywhere between 6'2'' and 6'4'' in height? I've also heard that Booty can beat Sanchez in a straight 40 yard dash. I would greatly appreciate you insight into the REAL physical data between the two, not just what is in the media guide: height, speed, weight, etc. If you don't know exactly, will you speculate based upon seeing them in person everyday, please? Thanks Wolfie!
A couple of days you said,
"I heard after the game from an Irish source that some Notre Dame recruits are now contacting USC."
---What is the status on the situation? What recruits?
How come Mustain did not travel to the Notre Dame game even though some other players who were redshirting made the trip? Who decides which players go in these situations and what are the reasons behind those decisions?
Do you know of any grumblings within the program about any possible transfers? There are a few people who we as fans feel should get more playing time, but they don't. Thanks!
Does it not seem Carroll is always quick to point out that Sanchez has not earned the starting spot but is only filling in? After the past two games, Carroll emphatically stated that all the two starts did was help "better prepare" Sanchez "for the competition next spring" and "John is the starter and will be again when he is better."
So do you think there is a reason Carroll is always very quick to point out that Sanchez will not earn the job over a healthy Booty and all this does is help prepare him for the upcoming quarterback competition in the spring? In both cases, for this year and next, is Carroll making sure that everyone, Sanchez included, knows that Sanchez has not earned anything and has to compete with other quarterbacks? Do you think Carroll is angry at Sanchez for openly telling the media that he should be starting over Booty, rather than being a team player who knows he is only stepping in for the injured starter? Does Carroll dislike Sanchez lobbying in the media for the starting job and this is his way to send a message to Sanchez?
Your thoughts and insights on this are greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance.
While Sanchez was pump faking to freeze that troll Zbikowski and lofting a TOUCHDOWN pass to Davis, was Mitch Moostain pumping you in the hiney, the mouth, or both?
How do you like the USC secondary vs. the "off the bench" Oregon receiving core? The fill-ins showed up against Washington but can they repeat against SC?
Why is that most of the information that you report can easily be found anywhere and the inside stuff is usually just your opinion? What makes you different from any other reporter who covers USC? It just seems like you think you are pretty great.
When was the last game that USC was an underdog as determined by point spread? What is USC's record as an underdog under Caesar? Are the players/coaches seizing the underdog theme or more the Oregon is not taking our Pac 10 crown approach?
1. I heard from somebody that Stafon Johnson tweaked his foot on his last carry against Notre Dame. Can you confirm if he is healthy enough to get carries against Oregon this weekend?
2. My other question is, you often refer to yourself as 'we' when making posts in your blog. I thought this was Scott Wolf's blog...unless 'Scott Wolf' is a group of people other than Scott Wolf, himself. I'm confused as to who this 'we' consists of.
HI WISE WOLFIE:
DID YOU PERSONALLY KNOW--OR DO YOU KNOW OF ANYBODY IN THE MEDIA THAT KNEW--BEFORE THE GAME WAS OVER--THAT BOOTY WAS PLAYING WITH A BROKEN FINGER IN THE STANFORD GAME?
IF WE ARE ALLOWED MORE THAN ONE QUESTION TONIGHT, MY SECOND QUESTION WOULD BE---DO YOU LIKE IT WHEN I TELL JOKES HERE ON THE OPEN FORUM? I HAVE A GOOD LES MILES JOKE I'VE BEEN SAVING.
THANX FOR THE SURPRISE Q AND A!!!
PS--IF WE ARE ALLOWED ONLY ONE QUESTION, THEN MY FIRST QUESTION IS THE ONE I WOULD LIKE ANSWERED--THANX AGAIN.
Even If Dayne Crist Decommits from ND, is USC really that interested in him? Its looks as if SC is in the Drivers seat with Matt Barkey, who is a better QB.. The real question is do you think we have a shot at getting one of Fucla's All World DB's to DeCommit E.J. Woods or the other Cornerback?

Don’t get me wrong, because I very much admire Pete Carroll, both as a coach and human being. But excluding the one you refer to as a "mannequin", has Pete outcoached anyone on the field this year?

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
