Vocal leaders?
WTF is that supposed to mean?
Everyone on this team and staff is delusional. They lost to one of the worst teams in I-A, and pretty much lost the week before that to Washington. And all they do is throw out catch-phrases: "We need more vocal leaders" "We need to work on forcing turnovers"
Hey brainiac, who doesn't need these things??
What's next? "We have to play more like a team"
??
USC has more talent than anyone in the country except for maybe Florida, and they are getting run off the field by Stanford.
What does that tell you?
The coaches don't know what they are doing and the players don't give a crap anymore.
I don't know if they think PC is leaving, or if the Reggie Bush scandal is about to explode and they will be banned from the postseason and it's affecting the team, or if they are just that bad. Maybe they really are just that bad. Here is what I see every week:
They come in the first quarter with their scripted plays they know will work and get 10 or maybe 14 points. After that, the entire team collapses. JDB throws INT's, WR don't run routes, the O-line goes into the tank. Penalties, 3 and outs, bonehead plays.....the opposing team's defense knows Booty sucks and can't throw long passes. So they bring their LB's and safeties up to the line of scrimmage and cut off the running game. Result? After 4 quarters of this the USC defense gets tired and the other team wins.
It has happened in every game since Bush and Leinart left.
Like Wolf posts, USC will never win another NC without Norm Chow. The coaches they have now are clowns, especially that Sarkisian. And Booty is a crappy QB. He has zero mobility, locks onto the primary WR, hits the panic button every game, and makes stupid decisions. Maybe Sanchez will do better on Saturday. Who knows.
But the bottom line is that this team is a huge mess, with players who don't even bother to finish their routes, predictable play calling, and a terrible QB. And since no one feels it's a problem nothing will change.
It will be funny to see the preseason #1 team sitting at 4-8 when the year is over. Maybe then Sarkisian, Ruel, and the rest of the peanut gallery will be working at Jack in the Box

Wow, one loss and you are predicting a 4-8 season.
The issue with USC is that this team plays down to their opponents instead of establishing themselves as the best.
The talent is all there, what seems to be lacking is the fire. Perhaps Sanchez will be the spark.

Jackson sounds as if he is a mature young man, and he makes sense.
SC has played Idaho, Nebraska, Washington, and Stanford, all of whom it was heavily favored to beat. Perhaps the schedule has hurt SC, not having any stiff competition early in the year to get the boys' juices going. Much like last year's unexpected Oregon State loss, when the Trojans caught fire and rolled to victories over good teams, I believe we are pleasantly in store for another such run.

I think what the team may need is *dynastyisover* to go into the locker room and give them that speech before and after every game from here on out. That'd fire my a** up.
In Sanchez I trust.

Think about it--the only offense USC had last year was Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett. No running game at all. They would get in trouble and SS or DJ would bail them out. That was how they were able to "go on a run". Not much of a "run" anyway, since it ended with a loss to UCLA.
As you probably noticed, both of them are gone now.
The WR's this year are:
Patrick "stone hands" Turner
David "I don't like running routes" Ausberry
Vidal "Why does everyone expect me to catch the pass?" Hazelton
And without top notch WR to throw to, Booty and Sarkisian are exposed for the as* clowns they are.
The only "run" they will have this year is a run to the diamond walnut bowl in San Francisco

I am not a UCLA fan.
I am not a fan of any team in particular, just a college football fan.
And it's pretty obvious for me, watching the USC football team play, that it's a team in serious trouble and disarray. And all the coachs', players and fans are saying:
"Oh we just need to practice a little harder"
and to be honest, it's kinda funny :o))

" Result? After 4 quarters of this the USC defense gets tired and the other team wins.

Wow! Aren't you the football guru? SC has lost every game since the Texas loss? I think that they are 15-3 since then. Quite an overstatement. The Trojans have the talent to run the table and the coaching is there; however, little things are killing drives--mental busts as I like to call them are costing the team field position and putting the team in poor position to execute. So that predictable playcalling you are so angry about stems from having 2nd and long and third and long. Positions that we were rarely in with Coach Chow because of the LEADERSHIP present in the huddle. This team can be great if they have that spark of leadership.
All the Booty bashers are only right about the lack of that "it" that some players have and some do not. It's not a skill, it's an aura that some people have and others do not. Vince Young has "it" while Lendale does not. Booty does not have "it" but Sanchez may, Mustain looks like he has it, but I can only go off last year with McFadden in the backfield with him.
I think, too, that the expectations on this team make these kids try too hard to make something big on every play and this tightens them up and they make mental errors--fumbles, missed assignments, etc...I feel like everyone on the team is desperately trying to be the leader to whom Scott is trying to point his finger.
If these boys can relax and have some football fun, they will win football games.
Just my two cents.

dynastyisover, you kinda have a bit of a contradiction, you can't blame it on the WRs and then blame it on the coaches and Booty. If the WRs aren't catching the ball, how can you blame Booty or the playcalling? I certainly dont think Booty has played great, but he hardly terrible or incompetent.

One loss and dynastyisover. What a prognosticator! Dude, get a life. This just actually makes the season interesting. It was getting kind of boring at #1. Move on. Go Sanchez! USC 45 Arizona 16.

I have seen every game they played this year. They are all the same.
(although watching Idaho push them around in the 4th Q was a little more humourous)
Kick the ball to the opposing team
Force a punt
Get the ball back
1st down: Run up the middle
2nd-naked bootleg
3rd-short pass that stone hands turner drops
4th-punt
repeat process until 4th quarter when Pete Carroll gets that confused look of disbelief on his face
:o)

It's still better than Hackett's Run, Run, Pass Incomplete, Punt.
or
Robo II's Run, Run, Throw it to Key--crap he's gone? well, Run, Punt.
And I bet we see a wide open game this week--they will not hold back with Sanchez in the game--the dropoff will be in game management not talent.

Doesn’t it seem that after every loss in the post-Carson Palmer era (there have only been FIVE) there is always some dramatic prognosticator (the latest being “dynastyisover”) that comes on here talking about how the sky is falling and that Pete Carroll doesn’t know what he is doing…and then the Nostradamus of the Month is never to be heard from again after USC continues to win games, Pac 10 Championships and go to BCS Bowl Games.
You have to love this genius with such great takes as:
“The coaches don't know what they are doing…” (as if you do.)
“It will be funny to see the preseason #1 team sitting at 4-8 when the year is over.”
“And it's pretty obvious for me, watching the USC football team play, that it's a team in serious trouble and disarray.”
Listen drama queen…Pete Carroll has won 5 Pac 10 Championships, coached his teams to 5 straight BCS Bowl Games, had 3 Heisman Trophy winners play for him, and won 2 National Championships...so despite the fact that Booty looks like garbage and we just lost our FIRST home game since 2001 (let me say that again…we just lost our FIRST home game under Carroll since 2001) to 41 point underdog…I trust Pete Carroll to light a fire under his USC team a “little” more than I trust the novice opinion of some ‘Jonny come lately’ that is “not a fan of any team in particular”.
And while I am very happy that you have watched every game this year…I have watched the last 70 games (the majority of them in person)…and have enjoyed watching USC under Carroll win 63 of them. So if 7 losses in 5 ½ years, 2 Championships and 3 Heismans are not enough for you as a fan…please feel free to jump onto another team’s bandwagon!

Hey it's not rocket science people. I have seen pop warner teams that aren't as predictable and badly coached as the USC team this year.
I know it's sounding harsh but I bet alot of people on here go pretty harsh on other teams, like Notre Dame or UCLA or Cal
Just trying to deal with reality.
USC 2007:
Offense:
Rojo in=reverse
Mcknight in=pass in the flat
Washington in=run up the middle
they telegraph everything they do
1st down=run
2nd down=naked bootleg
3rd down=short pass that (insert WR here-Turner Hazelton Ausberry) drops
4th down= punt
Defense:
1st down= base 4-3
2nd down= safety blitz
3rd down= all out blitz
How else do you think STANFORD converted on 4trh and 20 with the game on the line??
The kid QB knew what USC was going to do.
Well anyway, I will let y'all go back to posting about how USC will win all the rest of their games and the Rose Bowl and REALLY are the best team
Good luck with that
:o))

Hey maybe they will turn things around...they beat Cal and Oregon last year with zero running game which is pretty impressive. Although I hate to say it, UCLA spared you a real embarrasing beat down in the NC game. With a running game of an injured Washington and a overweight CJ Gable, Florida would of eaten you alive.
DJ and SS might of kept them in it for a short time. But this year they have Joe "I am supposed to be WHERE on the field??" McKnight and stone hands Patrick...Although Hazelton is starting to give him competition in the dropsies department.
Let's look at the facts. Michigan is another highly overrated program. Oregon ran them off the field by what, 32 points? Why do you think USC will be any different?
A Stanford WR dropped a sure TD pass in the first half, and if it wasn't for RoJo's lucky long pass grab..(the first of this year I can remember for USC) they would of lost 31-16 TO STANFORD
Yep, you read it folks. They are so bad they could of gotten creamed by STANFORD.
Cal looks great this year and has no fear of USC. Any particular reason why, after seeing USC struggle with WASHINGTON that you think they will beat Cal?? IN CAL??
Just because? hahaha...ok
With booty throwing 4 INT's per half? Hell the friggin' guy has 8 INT's already this year!!
What is he QB rating like 11?
I am just saying, try not to be so head in the clouds. USC is obviously on a downslide and maybe Carroll should move on the NFL. Or something..I don't know. Like I said in my first post, it's hard to explain the complete, total disaster I saw on the field from USC the past 2 weeks.
Is someone paying them off ?? haha

Wow thedynastyisover, 4 separate responses to my one post…I think you are the one that needs to cut back on the caffeine? I will try to respond to all four posts with one post because I clearly do not have as much free time as you do.
However, I must admit, your posts are pretty funny! I particularly found these gems to be pretty entertaining:
“people on here go pretty harsh on other teams, like Notre Dame or UCLA or Cal” – No shit (sorry DP)…this is a USC Football Blog…what did you expect USC fans to say about Notre Dame, UCLA or CAL? UCLA has pretty uniforms?
“ UCLA spared you a real embarrasing beat down in the NC game.” – What I find even more embarrassing is spelling embarrassing “embarrasing”.
“…Florida would of eaten you alive.” – Really?
Sometimes it helps to actually think before you type. And since you now claim to have been watching previous USC seasons and are such a huge college football fan…I am sure that you are aware that NOBODY has ever beaten down a USC team under Carroll. Since 2002, all of USC’s seven losses were by a combined 23 points (’02 – 7 pts. at K-State, 3 pts. at Wash. State; ’03 – 3 pts. at CAL; ’05 – 3 pts. to Texas at NC; ’06 – 2 pts. at Oregon St., 4 pts. at UCLA; and ’07 1 pt. to Stanford at home).
So when you say Florida would give USC an “embarrassing beat down” or “would of eaten you (USC) alive”…it just looks like you are trying to get some attention or a response from USC fans…since "reality" doesn’t support your “expert opinion.”
Therefore, I would advise you to stick to the Pop Warner and NFL Europe Blogs!
FYI - The majority of fans on here are not saying that USC is going to go on a tear and win all of the remaining games. We all went to or saw the Stanford game…and unless certain players get healthy and other players start to step up and live up to their hype/potential…at CAL, at Oregon and at Arizona State look very daunting.

Well dude that's because you wrote a 5 PARAGRAPH RESPONSE to my post...
btw..ONLY LOSERS FROM 1995 or 12 year olds RIP ON SPELLING ERRORS
:o))
Pete Carroll got beat down plenty in 2001..
Why are we only starting in 2002? Why do USC fans do that..
"OK forget 2001.."
Why? Pete Carroll was the coach..isn't he a genius?
And they might not of lost by a large amount of points, Although they could of on many an occasion, but choking a game away (see Texas, NC game, Cal 2004,etc.) or losing to someone who is 41 POINT UNDERDOGS is about the same thing :)
Anyway, it's nice to see someone with some common sense we have some tough games ahead.

I mean, JJ, just look at this thread...I come on here and talk a little reality about USC and I got 20 posts on here in 5 hours..and I am the one who is a little high on the tension scale?
I mean, I know USC just lost one of the biggest upsets in college football history (and technically, the biggest, by point spread) but wow..

Ok here's the deal JJ and whoever else:
USC has Joe McKnight, Vidal Hazelton Patrick Turner, Stafon Johnson, Jeff Byers, K. O'Dowd, Sed Ellis, B. Cushing, T2, Taylor mays, and others..Chris Galippo
THIS TEAM SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO OUT BY ITSELF AND BEAT STANFORD WITHOUT ANY COACHES
you got all the love in the world from the press
So who is to blame?
THE ASS CLOWN COACHES WHO CAN'T EVEN GET THIS TEAM OF ALL STARS TO BEAT STANFORD
I COULD DO IT
AN 11 YEAR OLD COULD DO IT ON PLAY STATION
NO EXCUSES JJ ENOUGH OF YOUR CHAT LOG BS MAKING FUN OF SPELLING ERRORS
STOP LIVING IN THE PAST IT IS NOT 2003 ANYMORE

I'll speak about 2001 for JJ.
According to dynastyisover USC suffered a beat down because we lost 5 regular season games.
If I recall Pete Carroll's first losses went as such
a 4 point loss to K state,
2 point loss to Oregon, 5 point loss to Stanford, a 3 point loss to Washington.
His worst ever "beat down" according to "I'veseentomany1980ssoapoperas" was an 11 point loss to ND.
Oh yeah, he did lose to Utah in the Vegas bowl by 4 points.
I'm sorry dynastisover but no one has ever put a true beat down on a Pete Carroll coached team.
I bet you can even go back to all the losing years and not see to many beat downs because SC has always had pretty good defenses. It was our offenses that most of the time wouldn't show up.
Defense would keep us in the game but couldn't always win it.

I'll speak for JJ about the 2001 losses.
Lets see
4 points to K state
2 points to Oregon
5 points to Stanford
3 points to Washington
not exactly beat downs.
The worst loss (point wise) ever suffered by a Pete Carroll team was an 11 point loss to ND in 2001.
And that was after leading 3.5 quarters by a score of 16-13
Oh yeah SC lost to Utah in Vegas bowl by 4 points.
Dynastyisover is barking up the wrong tree.
Last but not least
dynastyisover=I'veseentomany1980ssoapoperas.
