Have they considered a medical redshirt for Brian Cushing?

How many touches do you expect Stafon Johnson to get this weekend in South Bend?

What is the biggest weakness of this team?

When Booty saw Sanchez's performance against Arizona, do you think he laughed?

Scott,

Realistically, do you know what the coaches were expecting out of Sanchez when he started last week? He obviously has the tools, but the mental part and nuances of the game are something that seem to be learned more through game experience. And given the fact that he's been in the system now for a few years, do you know if they were expecting him to light it up or play like he did?

And also, what was your honest opinion about his performance last week? Thanks!

Did you actually take a statistical analysis or quantitative analysis course at USC? If yes, maybe we should petition USC to include 'ethics' into the curriculum for that course.

Scott,
Why do certain members of this message board hate Mark Sanchez so much?
It seems like most of the posts are from neutral parties who just want to see the best QB play, while a few posters actually hate Mark and everything associated with him. This select group of posters give off such a negative vibe that it's apparent they'd rather see SC lose with Mark than win with Mark if only because it would make Mark look good.
Now I'm no big fan of JDB's play and I'd rather see Mark in there, but I always root for JDB to do well and never would say that JDB is laughable or talentless. Why the huge schism in SC fans' thinking? Some have brought up race, but I don't buy into that.
So what is it? What causes a small, but vocal minority of SC fans to hate Mark Sanchez???

How does the football program use the assets and resources of the university at large to better its football players?

I've seen several game day specials over the last few weeks (and last few years) showing how schools like OSU, Florida, and Oregon use various academic research programs to make their football players faster, stronger, have greater endurance.

Specifically, Florida used some medical and computer engineering program to graph Tebow's release and then come up with some "scientific" recommendations for Tebow that have made his release quicker while also putting less pressure on his elbow.

Does USC have any such programs for its players?

Scott:

Is it safe to say now that OJ Mayo will be the most high profile Trojan athlete this year nationally? Isn't it bizarre that the basketball team is now ranked higher than the football team? Who would have thought that?

What is the status and improvement on Broderick Green and Everson Griffen?

Scott, I have heard from several people that the reason Mitch Mustain is so respected by the players on the team is because he's humble and unassuming, letting his play do the talking, as opposed to certain other players who attract attention to themselves and are constantly trying to show off or running their mouths. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Is that not the way Carson Palmer was?

Thanks for this forum, Scott. It is clearly the most informative site out there for USC sports and I appreciate the time you put into it, especially the open forum.

Scott:

Whats your over/under for punts on Saturday? Is twenty about right?

Hi Scott, Great board as always. I have seen several references to "Caesar" and "Roman Meal" by you in the past. Please advise what are the tie-in's with P.C. and these names ? Fight on and beat the Irish !!!

What is the status of the recruting Brendan Beal?

Do you think that there will be any ND decommits that will consider USC?

What is the status on O'Dowd's knee, and is there any chance of him getting his starting spot back from Spanos?

Alright Scott, what is your take on this scenario, if its even possible. South Florida & THE Ohio State University go undefeated to meet for the BCS title. Rose Bowl takes Pac-10 champ USC. Since the Rose Bowl loses its Big-10 rep, can it take LSU with an at-large? Since USC won't play in the title game, USC-LSU in Pasadena has got to be the next best scenario for Trojan fans.

SW, name the RB's and the quarters that they will play in (AND WHY). Nothing against Chauncey, but when he is complete, Stefon is the best back. Joe Mc showed last week what everybody has been hoping for. Chauncey is a mudder, which could be key, since they be playing in the tallest grass outside Wrigley Field. All in all, I hope that Stefon gets a lot of touches. Thanks, Fight On!

In light of all the injuries, do you think Carroll may re-examine the policy for intensive physical practices, where players often get hurt even during "walk-throughs"?

We've seen Booty and Sanchez and know what they are capable of doing. What is your impression of Aaron Corp and can he possibly start next season? He was an absolute stud in high school, but needed to bulk up. He's 6-3 and 185?

Scott

Hate to deal with reality here but...

It seems like the frosting is off the cake.

USC is not the giant in the valley of little people anymore.

I watched PC's press conference yesterday he was getting grilled good and didn't like it.

Since it seems the (inevitable) downhill slide is upon us, to mediocrity and Alamo bowl appearances..do you see PC leaving after this year to the NFL?

What is likely to have a more profound impact on whether Rey Maualuga opts for the NFL draft; a less than speedy recovery from his injury (hip pointer) or the Trojan's not ending up at least in the Rose Bowl--and how does where Rey ultimately end up impact Luthur Brown?

Do you we might have shot at Dwayne Crist now that ND is tanking.

Why doesn't USC have a designated special teams coach, and is there any sense that this will change in the near future?

If the draft was tomorrow. Where would Keith Rivers be takin'? (#Round...early~late)

Why doesn't Luthur Brown get more playing time? Is he slower than the other MLBs. It seems like he is always around the ball when he is in.

The stats comparing the team's performance from this year to last year have been posted in several places now, and for the most part favor this year over last. Last year's team had it's struggles, but I don't think it ever looked as lost as the team has at some points this year. Certainly it hadn't been criticized as much by fans and the press.

Given the similarity in numbers, how do you explain the difference in the appearance of the team?

Is there any chance that UCLA would fire Karl Dorrell abnd replace him with Jim Harbaugh of Stanford? Is the feeling that Harbaugh will be a quality Pac 10 coach or did he just catch USC at the right time? Would Harbaugh take the UCLA job if offerred it?

During the Stanford game, I don't recall that the announcers or sideline reporter ever stated that Booty had a broken finger. If I recall, the coaches knew at halftime that Booty's finger was broken.

Thus, did USC keep that information from Versus (and thus Stanford), or did Versus just drop the ball? Also, in general, what is the team's policy about releasing the status of in-game injuries to any network? Thanks, Scott

60614Trojan:
Did you find amusing JDB's SIX INT's in his last two games with a much healthier OL than the one Sánchez had?Idiot...

How much of Mustain's abilities against the first team defense come out and does he appear to be the only QB who routinely can get through our defense (judging by the fact that our opponents have not been able to score too many points)? Yes, I know he's running the other team's plays, but it seems he has more success against them than anyone else.

Scott -

What's your basketball preseason top 25?

Who are the top five USC tight ends you have covered during your tenure on the beat?

Scott, Speaking of tightends Fred Davis has looked great but are there not some others that should be getting some playing time for next year and does USC ever run a 2 tight end set for passing situations or only for runs?

Where do you cover the game from...the field, or the press box? From things I have seen and read, you are very often, on the field.

Scott, how do Pete Carroll's practices compare to previous coaches' that you've covered? Do you think there's any correlation between these types of practices and the high number of injuries? Thanks.

Scott, regarding your sources for the Mayo/Hackett--punch story...

I understand that one of the sources was a member of SC's men's basketball team, correct? My question is: were any of the sources present for the incident; and, if so, how many of your sources saw the punch thrown?

In which practice did bryan cushing get hurt? Rachal? Booty? Stafon? Maualuga? O'Dowd?

marathon idiot:
"Scott how did MM do inpractice?". Change your lipstick rr-end kisser...

Hi Scott what do you think of some of the thoughts that Pete is holding some things back in these past games to not give Oregon and Cal things to prepair for on tape?

What is the meaning of life?

Is football (and sports in general) a salve manufactured for the idioits to keep them distracted from the more important things in life, like world affairs and politics?

GREETINGS AGAIN ALL WISE WOLFIE:
FIRST, I'LL ANSWER TWO OF THE ABOVE QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO SAVE YOU TIME, AND TO ENCOURAGE ALL READERS TO READ ALL QUESTIONS AS YOU HAVE SUGGESTED.
YOU ARE ALWAYS ON THE FIELD DURING GAMES-THERE, THAT'S ONE DOWN.
CEASAR IS PETE CARROLL, AND ROMAN MEAL BREAD IS THE ONLY BREAD SANCTIONED BY CEASAR FOR THE TROJAN FOOTBALL TEAM TO EAT.
THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM HERE, HOWEVER, AS ROMAN MEAL BREAD PRODUCTION HAS NOW CEASED. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH OF THE TENDER, JUICY, DELICIOUS BREAD CEASAR HAS STOCKPILED.
SINCE I ANSWERED TWO QUESTIONS [AND COULD HAVE ANSWERED MANY MORE-BUT, HRY, THIS IS YOUR WEB-SITE]MAYBE I'LL GET TO ASK THREE QUESTIONS-SURE-HA HA.

YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTION LAST WEEK WITH A JOKE,BUT, HEY, I DON'T BLAME YOU AS AN HONEST ANSWER WOULD HAVE EMBARRASSED MANY OF THE TROJAN ASST. COACHES IN MY OPINION.

BUT, HEY,[AGAIN]I GUESS THAT ENTITLES ME TO TELL A QUICK, EXTREMELY FUNNY,CLEAN JOKE HERE, TO EVEN THE SCALES.

WHO IS BIGGER, MR. BIGGAR, OR MR. BIGGARS' SON?
GIVE UP? GIVE UP?
OK, THE ANSWER IS MR. BIGGARS' SON, BECAUSE HE IS A LITTLE BIGGAR!!! HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!

OK, I GUESS IF JOSH HASN'T PULLED THIS ALREADY, IT'S TIME FOR MY ONE QUESTION. IT HAPPENED SO FAST I DIDN'T CATCH THEIR NUMBERS, SO WHO WERE THE TWO TROJAN LINEMEN THAT OPENED THAT NICE HOLE IN THE LINE FOR JOE TO GO THRU AND MAKE THAT LONG RUN IN THE FOURTH QUARTER LAST WEEK?

I REMEMBER YOU SAID YOU DON'T READ THE COMMENTS TO ANY OF YOUR POSTS,EXCEPT FOR THE OPEN FORUM COMMENTS RE YOUR ANSWERS, SO I AM WONDERING HOW YOU KNEW THE FIRST FEW COMMENTS RE YOUR POST ON THE COMPARISON OF FIRST STARTS--STATISTICS-WISE OF PALMER, LEINART, BOOTY AND SANCHEZ WERE NOT WHAT YOU EXPECTED, AND YOU HAD TO POST AN UPDATE. AS YOU CAN SEE, THAT OPENS THE DOOR FOR YOU TO MAKE ANOTHER JOKE IF YOU WANT TO--I.E. BRENDAN CARROLL TOLD ME--ADAM ROSE TOLD ME--
BEN MALCOLMSON TOLD ME--AD INFINITUM.

AS YOU CAN SEE, POSSIBLY I HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS TONIGHT,BUT, HEY, WHEN YOU'RE AS OLD AS I AM, WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO? AFTER ALL, I CAN TAKE VIAGRA ONLY ONCE A DAY!

SERIOUSLY, MY DEEPEST THANX TO YOU FOR CONTINUING THE OPEN FORUMS WHEN YOU ARE SO BUSY--WE SINCERELY APPRECIATE IT, ALTHO I NOTICE ONLY A FEW BOTHER TO MENTION IT, SO LET ME SPEAK FOR EVERYBODY-THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Tirebiter1:

One too many cups of coffee, eh?

FIGHT ON!!

HEY USCMIKE, HOW YA DOIN? BY THE WAY, YOU HAD A VERY GOOD POST ON THAT OPEN FORUM SEQUEL!!!!!!!!!!
RE MY QUESTION ABOVE TO SCOTT--WHY USE 20 WORDS WHEN 1000 WILL DO, RIGHT?
AT LEAST IT WAS HILARIOUSLY FUNNY, RIGHT? SURE--HA HA!

TIREBITER1 YOU CRAZY OLD COOT, DON'T EVER STOP POSTING!

I HOPE I'M AS LIVELY AS YOU WHEN I'M YOUR AGE.

HEY Trojan RAB:
THANX PAL! THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE EVER TALKED--THERE ARE SOME GREAT GUYS HERE,JJH4USC, USCMIKE AND MANY MORE.
NEXT JUNE 19, I HIT THE BIG 80, AND, BELEIVE ME, AT THAT AGE, OR MY PRESENT AGE, IF YOU DON'T TRY AND HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR, LIFE CAN BE A BUMMER--BUT IF YOU KEEP A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR, LIFE IS FUN AND WELL WORTH LIVING--ALL THE MORE SO IF YOU'RE A TROJAN FAN AND YOU HAVE A GREAT COACH LIKE PETE---HE HAS FULLY RESTORED OUR PROUD TRADITION STARTED BY HOWARD JONES AND CARRIED ON BY JOHN McKAY! FIGHT ON!

Scott:

Now that our hero Mitch Mustain's token competition for next year has proven himself to be a bust, this raises several important questions:

1) Is it not obvious that the token competition was allowed to play simply so our hero Mitch Mustain would not appear to simply be "given" the job in 2008 based on superior talent?

2) The longer our hero Mitch Mustain has to sit out until his eligibility kicks in, does that not simply add to the aura that surrounds him and adds to the lore that he is, in fact, the savior?

3) Is the story of our hero Mitch Mustain not a modern day Superman, where he has to watch from the sidelines as the nation of Troy suffers before he can come in and save the day?

4) Will Mitch and Me cover aspects of how one man singlehandedly gave so much of himself, always selflessly, to the betterment of his fellow man, with the goal of sacrifice and salvation to achieve the ultimate good?

We must know these answers about our hero Mitch Mustain, because without him we have seen Troy crumble the past two weeks and he's the only one who can make things right again. As has been evidenced time and time again, our hero Mitch Mustain is, in fact, The Chosen One.

Fight On!

The flower child is at it again. Somebody please get the damn idiot a pacifier. Oh, wait a minute he's an aphrodisiac nymphomaniac in permanent fantasy=hopeless...

Why does Carroll give seniors so much preferential treatment? Chauncey Washington being a prime example of someone who seems to be the starter because he stuck it out at USC.

Hey Tirebiter1:

Thanks for the kind words. Keep up the sense of humor, and FIGHT ON!!!

Tire is on fire today!

HEY MIKE AND JJH:
AW SHUCKS,---BUT THANX GUYS.
HEY, WE KICKED SOME SERIOUS BUTT TODAY! DONCHA JUST LOVE IT?
