This is the first batch of answers today. I tried to include the questions to see if it makes it easier to read. So far, I haven't been asked about referring to Pete Carroll as Caesar for the third straight week. Hail Caesar!

3 redshirting freshmen with big upside?

I guess this means a lot of potential

1. Chris Galippo
2. Brandon Carswell
3. DaJohn Harris

Do the coaches consider Mitch Mustain's previous college game experience to be an asset?
Yes

What's wrong with Patrick Turner? So far he is not living up to the expectation?

It depends what your expectations were. There was a lot of pressure entering the season he would be the next Mike Williams or Dwayne Jarrett go-to receiver but other than one game last year, that's not been apparent his first two seasons. The injury from Rey Maualuga's hit in practice before the Idaho game also slowed his progress.
But he might never be more than a journeyman receiver.

Who will play the parts of Scott Wolf and Mark Sanchez in the upcoming made-for-TV movie, "The Quarterback Who Made Everybody Forget John David Booty"?

Mark Sanchez will be played by Matt Leinart, who is itching to get into acting and will have plenty of free time with his waning NFL career. I will be portrayed by Bob Leinart, who also has plenty of free time.

After USC’s performance against Notre Dame...do YOU think that USC will pull off the “upset” and beat Oregon at Autzen Stadium on Saturday?

I would not be surprised if USC defeated Oregon but I think the running backs need to play a big role and the rotation needs to utilized intelligently. That's a big IF.

Was Carroll angry when he heard Sanchez told the media after the Notre Dame game that he should start over a healthy Booty?

This seems to be an Internet Urban Legend. Pete Carroll wants a player to think he should start. He wants competitive players. And Sanchez's comments were not made maliciously.

Could C.J. Gable be moved to Cornerback, and Bradford be moved to LB or Safety next year?

C.J. Gable said he could play two-ways if he were a receiver on offense but it's much more difficult as a running back. Allen Bradford does not seem interested in defense but if he doesn't get used next season at RB might change his mind.

The WR's seem to have dropped more passes this year?

There's been more dropped passes mainly because so many new receivers are playing this season and none of them are yet dependable go-to receivers. It's a sign if immaturity. This has been one of the disappointments for Caesar this season, the lack of development.

Is the "student body right" back in the playbook? and is Stafon Johnson the only one they run it with?

There is a play in the playbook, but it's got a different name. They can run it with anyone, but if they want more than 3 yards, Stafon Johnson runs it.

How you think Caesar ranks among active NCAA football coaches. The Best? Top 5?

Caesar ranks No. 1 right now with Florida's rban Meyer close on his heels. If Caesar loses to Oregon on Saturday, than we can probably say the Golden Age of USC went from around 2002-2005 A.D.

how much money does USC make from football? USC made almost $32 million in football and spent almost $19 million. It also raised $5 million through fundraising, which allowed it to balance the budget.

I believe that Rocky Seto is the "eye in the sky" on defense. Does he have a lot of input during games about what defensive adjustments to make? It seems that Carroll does spend a lot of time talking to him over the headset when the defense is off the field. And he has always been up in the booth as far as I know.

Pete Carroll does receive a lot of input from Rocky Seto but if you'e watching him on the headsets, Carroll's talking to everyone, including the offensive coaches. Carroll likes to stand far away from other coaches at times during games so the headsets are convenient to communicate.

Stafon Johnson is the fastest back after Joe McKnight and no, I can't say I've heard the story about Chauncey Washington running down Reggie Bush as a freshman.

SW, step in to the minds of the Trojan coaching staff for this week. What do you think is the key to a victory on Saturday (big plays and no turn-over's from the "O", or domination by the "D" by stopping Oregon's "O").

USC wants to ``contain'' Oregon's offense, and believes it can score on the Ducks' defense, which is not impressive. Obviously, turnovers will play a big role as they do every game. But if USC can run the ball it can also keep the Ducks offense off the field.

Cal. rushed for 115 against Oregon. Michigan rushed for 145 or so. Wazzu for 63: Stanford 140 and Washington with a very mobile QB rushed for only 164. Can USC do better? Perhaps, but I think they will have to win the game in the air. I know I said I would go away but I thought some of you would find these stats interesting.

I don't believe that Stafon Johnson's foot is as bad as he is claiming. He looked very agile in the Notre Dame game. USC is going to surprise the Ducks when Stafon Johnson rushes for 100+ yard on Saturday

Well duck..your time to trash talk on here is quickly running out...just like the Auburn, Nebraska, Arkansas, Notre Dame and other fans before you that have come on here talking their team up. But you came back and seem to be saying Oregon has a tough D. Let's check that out.

First of all, any team with jerseys tht ugly shouldn't be takling too much. But we will let that one go by.

Per this stout Oregon Rushing defense your talking about, USC is #4 in rushing defense, 64 ypg. Oregon is ummm..where is Oregon? Oh that's right..#50. 143 ypg. 143 big ones, mighty duckman, against Teams like Stanford and Washington and Michigan on a down year..hmmm not too impressive. OK, how about their pass defense?

USC #9 pass eff, rating 97.35, Oregon...well this is a little better they are #38, 116.23 rating. I guess New Mexico has a better pass defense than Oregon. Interesting. Yet, you are telling us Oregon has an awesome D...

At halftime of the BC-VT game last night they talked about the "weak" Oregon defense..

Yet you say they are tough..hmm...

DUCK I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR THESIS

Duckman…now you are starting to sound a little ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong…with Oregon’s offense, Oregon would beat Michigan 9 out of 10 times (maybe 10 out of 10). But when you say “Michigan rushed for 145 or so” you are leaving out one MINOR detail…which I find interesting!

In the Oregon/Michigan game…Michigan’s Mike Hart (you know the Heisman Trophy candidate) rushed for 127 yards…except he was able to do it against that Mighty Duck Rush Defense in TWO QUARTERS…and then had to sit out half the game because of a leg injury.

Had Hart actually played the whole game (Michigan would have still lost), but Hart alone would have easily rushed for over 200 yards.

Brag about the Duck Offense all you want, but the D is porous, and Johnson, McNight and Havili will have a field day.

PS - Anyone remember that classic Nintendo Game...Duck Hunt....great game.

Talk about a flawed premise. How do I even begin? How about teams like Washington and Stanford on a down year? How did your boys do? Yep, almost lost to Washington. (We killed em) and you stunk it up at home against Stanford. (We put em away in their house) I think that will go down as the biggest tank job in NCAA football history. By the way, have you had your head up your @#$ or did you conveniently forget that Michigan just might win their conference. As for Oregon's pass efficiency, I believe Dixon is #4 in the nation at an obnoxious 165.8, and 1st in the Pac by a mile. Your only half legitimate point was the only one that you discounted. Half of our uni combos are bogus. So get your facts straight and start with a sound thesis yourself if you wish to dismantle mine. You know what they say? Something about glass houses and stones. Didn’t want to talk trash but your silly little post made me do it.

Let me clarify a few things here:

First of all Duckman, I think 1966 was referring to Michigan as having a down year, not necessarily Stanford or Washington (and Michigan was absolutely shell-shocked after losing to App State, so that explains away some of that game)
#2 I wouldn't brag about killing Washington either. As I remember, it was 31-31 going into the 4th quarter. Despite the final score, I don't think a tie ball game in the final stanza could be considered a "killing"
#3 I don't think Oregon's D is as bad as some would say. Explosive offenses RARELY have great statistical defenses. When you're scoring points, there is a tendency to allow yardage and play more bend but don't break (prevent if you will) because you're up by 4 scores already. SC has been a victim of this syndrome in the past. Even this year versus Nebraska. They scored 31 on our defense, yet anyone who saw the game knows that defense would never score 31 points on us in a close game. PC put in 2nd and 3rd stringers and stopped forcing the action when he no longer needed to.
#4 Hard to agree with anyone who plays the "we beat them and they beat you" game. In that case, expect to lose to OSU & UCLA since both teams beat Cal and Cal beat you AT YOUR PLACE. And I don't want to hear anything about that last second fumble either. Had the earlier Cal field goal been ruled correctly, that TD would have brought you within 3.

I'm not saying Oregon's not a good team because I (unlike Wolf who thinks very highly of VT and lowly of the Pac-10) think UO is a very very good team and very dangerous to USC. In fact, I think if SC beats UO on Saturday, we'll win out. I don't see any other game or venue that is as tough as Autzen remaining on our schedule. Of course, a loss could signal the beginning of a free-fall, but I don't think that will happen.

Go Trojans. Fight On. Hunt Ducks.

sureshot I respect your comments and agree with most. For the record, I never called Oregon’s offence “stout”. It’s just my opinion that USC has a better chance of throwing the ball. Yes, even with a 3rd time starter at Autzen stadium. I personally hope that PC lines it up and tries to run all day. We will defend that easier than shots down the field. And to 1966, sorry if I offended you. I shot that post out without any filter time.

Duckmann91

I've enjoyed reading your posts this week. I hope fans of others teams that post here would show the same intelligence and respect that you have.

Good debate goes well beyond, "13-9" and "Cheat On."

Anyways - enjoy the game, and may the best team win.

Fight On!

Three cheers for Duckmann...next time you're at Dairy Queen say hi to miguelito for us.

Thanks for including me. I’m to hyper to post anymore, but does anyone know of a good A. State blog I can anoy next week? Really though it sounds like you have a great community hear and a lot of school spirit. Best of luck and let’s hope it lives up to the hype. Can you believe this game is not nationally televised? Our pac10 comish. Sucks!

Scott Wolf

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
