So it took the worst loss in the history of college football for Pete to finally drop his politician-speak. Congrats Pete. Maybe now we can get some truth out of you. Perhaps you will now explain to us why you imploded the coaching staff following the 2004 season, why you dont have a special teams coach, how you pick Patrick Turner over DeSean Jackson, why you think you can win having to start 3rd string talent, why you hold on to Chris Carlisle even though your teams are clearly not strong or in condition, etc, etc.
Oh...the Tings?

Coaching staff shakeup after 2004 probably had a lot to do with Carroll, but I have a hard time believing Chow didn't have anything to do with it.
DeSean Jackson basically used his courting by USC as a ploy to get national attention when he committed to Cal, which was probably his plan all along.
USC's 3rd string talent is first string talent at about half of the schools in the Pac 10, if not more. "Thinking" that he can win with that talent is not unrealistic. The bigger question should be why he can't win with the 3rd stringers forced into the game.
If you are one of the people that think that strength and conditioning has anything to do with torn knee ligaments and separated shoulders you should probably check out an anatomy class or something at the community college.
And the Tings got all that playing time in 2005 because of injuries.

Agreed, Coach Carlisle is the best strength and conditioning coach in the country so leave him out of any discussions as to why the trojans are struggling.
The coaches need to cut down on full contact drills during the season as a lot of our 1st & 2nd string guys get banged up before its time to play! Competition for positions should take place in spring and summer camps. There should not be weekly battles for starting positions, thats why we don't have any continuity. Stafon Johnson should be the starting RB period!!! Enough of this carousel of getting 3 and 4 backs in the game every week. The starting RB can't even work up a good sweat and rythm because he's getting pulled after a series or two.

How he picked Turner over Desean Jackson ? What is this a draft and Cal picked next ? Please... Carroll courted Mesean and the kid went elsewhere. Carroll needs to explain how a kid could possibly choose CAL ?
