Regarding Gable
USC sophomore tailback C.J. Gable does not like surgery, but he is scheduled to undergo an operation as soon as this week on his chronically strained groin and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.
``I don’t like surgery period,’’ Gable said Tuesday. ``I don’t want to do it.’’
However, Gable is scheduled to have surgery performed by doctors who performed abdominal surgery on former USC tailback Sultan McCullough during the 2001 season.
Gable was told he could play the rest of the season in pain, but he could redshirt this season if he undergoes surgery.

Stop taking too many Advils and painkillers and just get the surgery-no one likes surgery except the surgeons' bank accounts. CJ will thank his groin later when he is around a little longer with more experience and a healthier body.
Also, stop hanging out with anyone with the last name of Ting!!
Bill stop flaming and GROW UP!!
Bill you're a child.
One wonders if it frees up a scholarship if they designate him as a guinea pig for surgeons in training.
yeah this kind of scares me...I remember the Sultan McCullough "small surgery" that took him out for a year...
CJ was supposed to be the speedy breakaway threat to complement Stafon and Chauncey..so who fills that role now? McKnight?
OK so that is:
CJ
Kevin Thomas
Will Harris
Travon Patterson
Hershel Dennis
Galippo
who are gone for the year..
O'Dowd
Cary Harris
Chilo Rachal
Shareece Wright
Brian Cushing
Who are gone for at least a month.....
Tiny Malu
Butch Lewis
Stafon Johnson
Kaluka Maiava
Who are day to day...
Still waiting for someone to address this injury problem....
Hey '66, how would you like it to be addressed? 'Sir', or 'madam', or 'your honor'....
Hershel Dennis is certainly not out for the year and he will likely get carries this Saturday vs. Stanford.
Injuries are unpredictable--some years are worse than others, and this is a very bad year. It is the luck of the draw. Of course, I would guess that Coach Carroll's teams have more than their share because of the highly combative practices. But recall that many injuries this year have resulted from game action.
One final word on Gable-- perhaps this is why the coaches were not playing him much, despite his big start.
As easily as you can point to USC's recent positin specific injuries as of late (2005 - DBs, 2006 - FBs, 2007 - RBs) you could also point to the incredible luck USCs had at the QB position (knock on wood) since PCs been here. As far as I can remember the last QB related injury that required missed playing time was Matt Leinart at ASU in his first year and even then he only missed a couple series..
