Score Heard Round The World

Apparently UCLA isn't the only school obsessed with USC. When LSU public address announcer Dan Borne announced USC's loss to the record Tiger Stadium-crowd of 92,910 just after LSU scored a touchdown to cut Florida's lead to 17-14 midway in the fourth quarter.
Players and fans went wild.
"When they announced the USC-Stanford score, the stadium came loose," LSU coach Les Miles said. "We were operating to win the game, and when that happened it was like another shot of adrenaline that just said, 'C'mon guys, let's go play.' It was a nice feel."

Just shut-up, you loathsome troll Less Smiles.

What a loser. The USC score meant nothing to LSU's season

IAMSC: Of course the SC score meant something to Miles. He doesn't want to play SC. He's hoping for OSU.

I agree, USC could be a sleeping giant. Nobody wants to play them when they are up for a challenge. LSU would much rather play OSU or even get lucky and play someone like BC or USF (how f-in lame would that be?).

But you gotta love college football, it will be incredibly difficult to predict who goes all the way to the NC game. LSU still has the SEC championship (possible Florida again, which would be crazy if UF beats LSU). Cal has USC and ASU could prove difficult although I think they are overrated right now. BC has some tough games, but could easily run the table against VT (no offense), FSU (same), Miami (same). OSU could do the same, although I think their games will be tougher than BC's. USF clearly has the easiest road with Big Easy, I mean, East creampuffs like Cincin, Rutgers, etc.

…however, the big difference between UCLA and LSU was the fact that LSU used the USC score as a source of motivation to go on and beat a very good Florida team…while UCLA went on to embarrass itself against a horrible 0-5 Notre Dame team.

Trojans know that “UCLA Fan” cares more about USC losing than UCLA winning…I heard that the Bruins were celebrating on the streets of Westwood last Saturday night despite the fact that they got their ass handed to them by Oaks Christian.

FYI – Beat No. 2 Cal at Cal, beat No. 7 Oregon at Oregon, and beat No. 13 Arizona State at Arizona State…and then beat your two biggest rivals @ Notre Dame and home against UCLA…I don’t think you can be considered a “sleeping dog”!

I wonder how LSU and coach Les Miles would fair if they were to travel north of the mason dixon line and west of the mississippi to play a football game. Until that happens LSU is a paper tiger!

It is fun to travel the country with the SC football team to places like Auburn, Nebraska, Oregon etc and have the fans treat the game like it is the Super Bowl. The unbridaled passion is why I do this.

Nice post LAWYER JOHN! It is great to see the different traditions and fans in the Pac 10…but especially at some of the great non-conference road games USC fortunately plays in. I will definitely see you in Columbus, Ohio in 2009 for the USC v. Ohio State Game! That is another road trip I will not miss…unfortunately I was unable get away for the Lincoln, Nebraska trip.
