Scott, what is up with SC at #14? And Texas at #12 with 2 losses, plus nearly another loss to Central Florida?

Seems like you are bending over backwards against the Pac-10.

When a Pac-10 team loses to another Pac-10 team, the loser falls like a rock. When an SEC team loses to another SEC team, not much happens to the ranking of the loser. How do we know the SEC is really that good?

really scott? you really believe that the big 10 is better than the pac 10? missouri, kansas, 2 loss texas higher than usc and undefeated asu? wow, next week if usc beats oregon you will drop the ducks out of the top 15 and usc might be able to gain a spot huh? are you trying to single handedly keep usc out of the top ten? wow...

Maybe Wolf should go be a beat reporter in the SEC or Big 12. I'm surprised he doesn't have Vanderbilt ranked ahead of USC and ASU.

you are not being objective...very sad to see that

that's right just4sc...Scott should be more objective and put USC at No. 1...I mean the loss was only to a 35-point underdog at home and huge wins over Top 25 programs Idaho, Notre Dame and Nebraska...

There a difference between being objective and being blantantly anti-USC. The Trojans shouldn't be #1 (and in my opinion) shouldn't be in the top ten, but #14 is pretty ridiculouse. However, I'm giving Scott the benefit of the doubt and I expect a huge jump in his rankings after USC beats Oregon next Saturday.

Oklahoma's loss to CU was just like our loss to Stanford. If USC and OU both win out, I bet we'll see them in the Rose Bowl while LSU and Ohio State play an uninspired national championship game. The rankings should eventually reflect that.

VT at #6??? I think the performance they put on against (#4) LSU was worse than Tulane.

I don't think West Virginia could beat anyone on this list besides Hawaii.

BTW, does anyone know the point spread going into App State at (#20) Michigan? That's because they don't post spreads vs. Div II schools.

Don't fall into this lame guy's trap. He is only out to the stir the pot and make news for himself. We take care of business and the rankings will follow. Have more confidence than this insecure writer.

SW, please stop in hailing the crack. SC at #14 and the convicts of Austin, TX at #12. SW, please watch where you drop your crack pipe (check out the Santa Ana's blowing today).

Despite ND's bad season, that game was not as easy as some think. Beating FUCLA at the Rose Bowl and playing the #2 in the nation ( according to SW) on competitive terms was ignored as was SC's total domination of the game. They deserved to be moved up several spots.

Wolf, I appreciate your candor at times, but you are clearly abusing your vote. I find that to be unprofessional and unethical.

With the victory over N.D. USC has moved from having the #107 SOS (based on the former BCS formula) down to the #109 SOS....this is out of 120 teams. By comparison, here are the SOS for the other teams in Scott's poll:

1. Ohio State - 42
2. Boston College -43
3. Oklahoma -45
4. LSU - 6
5. West Virginia -62
6. Virginia Tech -44
7. Florida - 5
8. Oregon -10
9. South Florida - 8
10. Missouri -27
11. Kentucky - 9
12. Texas -66
13. Kansas -97
14. USC -109
15. Arizona State -63
16. Hawaii -120
17. California -41
18. South Carolina -30
19. Alabama -51
20. Michigan - 21
21. Auburn - 7
22. Georgia -38
23. Penn State -57
24. Rutgers -28
25. Boise State -107

While USC will certainly work its way back up in the SOS over the next several weeks...at this point (and making the presumption that the highest ranked team wins all of the games from here on out) USC would still end up only at #64 by the end of the season. Thus it will be very difficult for the Trojans to move up much in the BCS.

totally irrelevant to the thread.

BTW scotty we are back in the top 10 no thanks to you

;o)

If we take out Oregon, Cal and UCLA, we will get invited to big bowl like Sugar or Rose, and win that and could be #2 or #3..the season's not over yet

Where's UCLA? It seems that the boys across town feel a little slighted about only falling into the "also receiving votes" category.

absurd!

We are not playing to get into the BCS championship game this year. We are playing for either the Rose Bowl or an at large BCS bid. If we win out our ranking won't mean anything because we will be in the Rose Bowl and our ranking will be meaningless.

...everything regarding fucla is meaningless.

yeah totally irrelevant other than the fact that USC's SOS is horrible right now compared to years past and you still expect the media to put USC in the top 10?

the Trojans have recorded wins against neither Cal, UCLA, Arizona State or Oregon...now if they get some road wins against those teams THEN you can make a case....

Is anyone interested in the biggest game that USC may play all year? Are you ready for an Autzen beat down?

The Ducks are about to be EXPOSED...oh wait they already were - at home - by a 2 loss Cal team.

The Oregon Ducks are the most overexposed, self-aggrandizing, annoying team on the planet. You can thank the Nike machine for that. Pick a uniforma already. It's hard to build a fanbase or legacy when you playing 197 different uniform combinations...

While I loved USC's awesome performance on the road against a storied rival (all of USC’s TDs were unbelievable)...you have to remember that USC just beat a Notre Dame team that was 1-5, the same Notre Dame team that lost 38-0 to the Michigan team that lost to 1-AA Appalachian State.

So while I think USC “should” definitely be ranked higher...I wouldn’t get all riled up over Scott’s rankings...Scott is just not giving USC too much credit for beating up on a really bad football team...beat Oregon at Oregon, Cal at CAL and Arizona State at Arizona State...and USC will be back up at the Top of the mountain before you know it.

Well nice to see that there is east coast bias here in so cal as well!?!

then how does one justify such a high rating for Hawaii-with worst SOS of them all- at # 16 ?

Wolf: you are a west coast reporter who over compensates the fact that he covers SC and pac-10 football.
