We Don't Make This Stuff Up, Folks

Sometimes, so many ludicrous things happen during a week, we forget some items. Last week, we were told that the USC radio broadcast claimed to use a Spanish term for quarterback to refer to Mark Sanchez. As awful as that sounds, we were told by some who actually listened they couldn't even get their translation right.
Apparently the term they used translated to ``Mr. Four Back'' instead of ``Mr. Quarterback.' This is the type of insight you would expect from a 1950's broadcast.

That was important.

So now you're gonna pick on the broadcasters too? It's no wonder nobody likes you in this business.

What was the term?
Thank you

Yeah, I'm with door prize--update the post, Scott-what was the term? Thanx.

They called him "Cuarto-Espalda" which is a crude and direct translation to "Quarterback".

I learned all my Spanish at Taco Bueno in Texas, but I think they actually got it right. They didn't say "Cuatro-Espalda".

Who cares anyway?

I would be curious to hear the radio broadcasters critique the print coverage of the games. I'm sure that would be muy malo.

Petingtong:
Thank you for the info. So much for politeness to you. First you're decent and then you comeback to be the usual suspect Sanchez hater you are. I safely assume that Mark is bilingual as well and he really doesn't care what was said.
I am fully bilingual and you are NOT therefore you are NOT qualified give an expert opinion.
Scott succeeded in starting some garbage he did NOT have any business doing particularly since he is NOT bilingual. Furthermore he gave vague information knowing that predictably blow-up as it DID. That is WHY I specifically asked for the term in question.
Here we go again...

¡Dios mío!

Cuatro-Espalda means "Man with Iron Balls" in spanish. It refers to a stud who does his best while the little cockroaches around him complain that he's too strong. Or in english, a Dirty Sanchez.

So don' be a cock-a-roach. Go to Noto Dame, and put a chimichanga up the rear of Senor Charlie, yes?

Say ello to our big fren, Senor Trojan. I love dees country.

Fight On, odeley puess!

Ok I hope Notorious was in fun and everyone doesn't start complaining. Why don't you bilingual guys help us come up with some cool monikers for Sanchez (like the Throwin Samoan).
Can't we do that without being racist??
I hope Mark starts against ND and kicks em tiempo grande (that sounds stupid even to me!

I agree Chet! I'm glad you saw the fun in that, and you know it's not racist because I'm half Latino myself and we love to make fun of everything as a way to lighten the load.

Mark has the potential to be the next Rodney Peete, he's extremely talented and he has heart.

JDB proved to be a team player as well, so let the competition begin. There's alot of good teams out there with a two-QB system.

Let's watch the Gunslingin' Sanchez do his thing. Mang.

ESPN announced that Mark will start against ND. Chet and the notorious joker nice try but I don't buy your notorious BS. Ask Jay Leno to let you in...
¡Hasta luego!

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
