Who Won?

We almost forgot. Two representatives from the Sugar Bowl attended the game. They left early.

I noticed them as they came by the C&G tailgate. Needless to say I broke into laughter.

That's what happens when they don't serve beer at the Coliseum anymore.

Scott, sometimes you are pretty darn funny! I cracked up when I read that.

Unless marked improvement is shown in on-field execution and in getting healthy, USC is looking at a postseason shocker.

Right now with the PAC-10 out of the BCS CG, on paper USC is battling it out with the lesser of Cal, Oregon, and ASU for the Sun Bowl. I'm basing this on performance and not seeing the current USC team beating these other 3 teams on the road.
I'm hoping USC runs the table abd locks up another BCS/Rose Bowl but also being a realist.

There's always the Hawaii, Las Vegas, or dare I say Emerald Bowl?

Are you people for real? We're playing THIRD STRING offensive linemen. Give the team a break. No other program in the nation would be 5-1 with a patchwork offensive line playing guys that are a small step from walk on (read as: scout team) on the offensive line.

Did it ever cross anyone's mind USC might win a game it's not supposed to?

Thank you Baxterbob, an actual Trojan fan who has their crainium out of their rectal cavity, unlike a majority of people who post here. Lets wait and see when ALL of the O-Line gets healthy, and you will see what happens.

Injuries are a lame excuse for losing. A injury problem didn't bother Cal vs. OSU..oh yea, whoops! I mean, a injury problem didn't bother UCLA vs. ND..whoops, again! I mean, I think Butch Lewis and Luther Brown did a great job filling in. USC will be a completely different team if Johnson returns against ND (and one or two OL). Hope Sanchez can handle the crowd. Keep the faith!

Sugar bowl reps don't matter this year...aren't they contractually obligated to take #1 and #2. What a lame blog entry...

USC isn't playing for a chance at the Sugar Bowl. They're playing for the BCS championship. Two different bowls, same stadium.

Hey Respect:

I don't know for sure, but the Sugar Bowl reps may be representing the Sugar Bowl game on 1/1, not the NC game played four days later in the Superdome. (They are doing the plus-one system. Last year, the Fiesta Bowl game was Boise St-Okl before the NC game b/w Fla-OSU.)

If so, they may have interest at looking at a potential at-large team like USC to play the SEC champ or another at-large team.

uscmike hit it on the head. They're looking at USC to possibly play LSU if LSU can't climb back into the NC picture. It's a game the Tiger fans have wanted for years...

Baxter Bob...thanks for pointing that out. In fact, duering one series we had three third string and two second string OL in the game.

Thanks for the clarification.

None of the teams ranked above USC in the BCS standings would be there with the injuries the Trojans had/have on the O-line, Linebackers, RB's and QB. Getting Stafon and Cush back would be nice and at least one O-line starter.

Not sure if I'd call it a Plus One system as that is acually a proposed system that would create a BCS championship matchup AFTER all the other Bowl games have been played.

The current system has a stand alone Championship game based on the final #1 and #2 in the BCS Standings. In effect another BCS bowl was added to appease the mid-majors like Utah, Boise, & Hawaii.
