Caesar 101

This was a game that perfectly illustrates Pete Carroll's theory that in big games, the team that wins is the one that stays calm and plays within itself. Teams that get too excited try to do too much and start making mistakes.
Here's a quote from Arizona State safety Troy Nolan on all the missed tackles.
``We were just too excited and overwhelmed,'' he said. ``We were just moving too fast and getting out of position on plays.''

we sure weren't calm against the Ducks-or in 2nd half against the trees

We lost to the Ducks and the trees. However as the article say, Scott's reports of USC's demise were greatly overrated. I guess having your starting lineup helps a bit! Comparing ourselves to the other teams who lost key players we have turned out to be superior in all areas. On December 2, the papers should be reporting that USC will be in a BCS bowl, as well as FUCLA's and Dorrell's demise which reports will not be greatly overrated.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
