Q: Is it not true that our hero Mitch Mustain is the ONLY person capable of taking the Trojans back to the top of the hill?
A: Of course it is true. That is why we are doing the book. There is no truth to the rumor Pete Carroll will install the spread-option offense because of the wide talents of Mitch or that preseason pollsters mistakenly thought Mitch was eligible this season when they voted USC No. 1.

The Nebraska game was in retrospect a horrible primer to the Pac-10 schedule. For that matter, I also saw an incredible amount of false hopes after beating maybe the worst team I've ever covered (Notre Dame). But Nebraska did prove Stafon Johnson had some pop, but then he did not play enough against Washington.
Mitch Mustain's done well in practice. Reports will probably inflate his performance because someone who redshirts is always inflated on the Internet. Much like the boasts about Joe McKnight and Everson Griffen from so many people last summer.
There will be 3-6 Pac-10 coaches not returning if you listen to the coaches' rumor mill. Washington State, Arizona and UCLA are the top three contenders with Washington or California outside shots and I'll let you figure out the last school that has speculation regarding its coach's future.
One of the reasons John David Booty did come to USC was Norm Chow and we'll never know how much different it would be if he were here.
Josh Pinkard's DUI case was continued.

Right now, the fans plan staff changes but Pete Carroll does not. That does not mean some won't leave in the offseason. Pat Ruel is highly respected and always gets NFL offers. Steve Sarkisian would like a head-coaching job but this season is not helping that campaign. Carroll would not fire him.
Chris Galippo is walking around and making the slow recovery from back surgery. Marc Tyler's stock rises every game the running backs struggle. He is still not 100 percent but should be by spring practice.
I don't know what Rey Maualuga told Petros or that they had a feud. Maybe Maualuga did not bow his head low enough in abject appreciation when he ate at Papadakis Taverna during his recruiting visit. Or perhaps Maualuga does not appreciate lackeys. Or hates Degrassi: the next generation.

Funny you should mention that...last week Fox Sports Pacific replaced the usual Wednesday night replay of the PC weekly press conference with the weekly press conference of Duhrell..guess USC doesn't get many viewers anymore.

Guilty as charged. After we beat ND I thought we were back on track. 2 fumbles, 3 INT's, 4 bonehead plays by Sanchez, 9 holding calls and 22 bubble screens later, I realize I was wrong.
