Kansas received three No. 1 votes in the AP poll Sunday. The Jayhawks have not played a team currently receiving any votes in the top 25, or the other teams receiving votes, for that matter.
Hate to say it but I have not seen Kansas; have they even be on local t.v.? It would make a great story if they can do it, but I have seen Missouri, and they are good, and Oklahoma should have its quarterback for the Big 12 championship. So my money says that Kansas is a longshot.

Like it or not, Kansas is not LSU, Florida, Ohio State or Michigan. Those teams can play cupcakes, beat up on them (save for Appy State) and not get hammered for it. June Jones and the Hawaii football program have a tough time with scheduling. They are the toughest road trip in college football, especially from the Midwest and East Coast. 6 times zones are rough. But, that is no excuse to play Northern Colorado and Charleston Southern. Kansas is rebuilding that program and they are in the middle of the country, so they had no excuse. Especially knowing that they didn’t have the heavies of the conference (Texas and Oklahoma) on their schedule (which in itself is a joke, but that’s a rant for another time), they should have lined up some BCS conference teams, if not some heavies of their own, to make sure that their schedule would hold up under scrutiny.
Honestly, you schedule tough for two reasons: 1) You let your recruits and alumni know that they have the opportunity to play against the best competition in the country year in and year out. You are going to put your program on the map by sheer force and give your players the exposure needed to move on to the next level if they can. 2) Playing against the best teams in the country, in the recruiting hot beds like California, Texas or Florida you give your program the opportunity to be exposed in those areas and you treat them as recruiting trips making sure all the locals come out and watch.
Hawaii plays the easiest schedule in America. There is no other way to put it.
In retrospect, playing Hawaii in place of the Vandals, the Cornhuskers or the Fighting (more like drunk and passed out) Irish would have provided some schedule strength to what is already a grueling schedule.

Yes, Kansas is a Cinderella who will not make it to the ball. They have a freakish Big-12 schedule without games against OU or UT. Mangino has done a fantastic job, and they are a fun, exuberant team to watch....but they are not LSU, OSU, USC, W Va, etc. I, too, believe that Mizzu is much more of the real deal and will handle Kansas on Sat. If not, then I would be shocked if OU doesn't take care of business in the Big-12 championship. I see LSU and Kansas losing, making the championship game W Va against Mizzu or OSU. What a wacky year!

I respect Kansas because they have beaten everyone in front of them. That has to stand for something at this point. If they aren't for real, they've still got Mizzu and OU ahead so they'll be exposed if they aren't a #2 team.
Of course Scott you've got enough "bad" teams in your top 10 that probably don't belong their either. OU, your number 1, dropping to 12 with a loss? But Texas who they beat is well ahead of them?
