Over And Out

Ole Miss fired Ed Orgeron today. While fans might center on his ill-fated fourth-and-1 call at the 49-yard line yesterday that set off a 17-0 run for Mississippi State, his image as a disciplinarian also took a hit.
Ole Miss ``disciplined'' 20 players for stealing radios and pillows from two different hotels this season and Orgeron suspended at least six players this season for different violations. For Ole Miss, the whole episode shows the danger of hiring a position coach as head coach.
Before the chorus begins to bring back Orgeron to USC, remember his previous title (assistant head coach) is taken by Steve Sarkisian and the title he coveted before he left USC (defensive coordinator) is taken by Nick Holt.

Defensive coordinator is taken by Nick Holt? If that's what it takes to get Orgeron back, then give it to him. He is too valuable of a recruiter and a D-line coach to hold on to Nick Holt.

To me, it's a no brainer. Ed Orgeron is FAR more valuable to SC than Nick Holt is. If Pete really wants to win at all costs, coach O's your man. If he wants to be chummy with his old friends at the expense of team success, then don't make a play for him.

Personally, I'll be rooting like heck for coach O to be back on the sidelines for the Men of Troy!

SW, okay before you stomp on the idea of PC calling Ed "O" back to Troy, think about this. Nebraska, Michigan, Texas A&M, Ole Miss (and more to follow). So how about the possibility of Sark, Nick Holt or Vern Ruhle heading out to head their own programs? And with all of these "big name" programs opened, what are the chances that "The NORM" will finally get his calling. Fight On!

I believe Coach "O"'s title was Defensive Assistant Coach, also he was the Defensive Line Coach and PC was Defensive Coordinator.

Also, Scott, I would love to see you interview / video Coach "O" like you did Ceasar. Based upon what I observed, hopefully you don't have any incontinence issues if and when you do.

Hey Goliath,
That's what I'm talking about. Do it, and do it now!

sureshot is correct - do it now!

Ed will be coaching somewhere next season, that's a given. Why not welcome him back here with open arms? He recruits like the devil and did a great job with USC's D-Line. There is always room on the staff for somebody like that. Who gives a *(#!(+$#@ what his title is?

Let's see, Coach O or Brenden Carroll overseeing the recruiting ? Coach O or Nick Holt coaching the D Line ? I'd like to see Holt to Linebackers and Norton to Siberia. While were at it, dump Morton and hire a friggin special teams coach

Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
