Regarding Coach O
We've already addressed this issue but it keeps coming up. Former USC assistant coach Ed Orgeron, recently fired by Ole Miss, is going to wait-and-see what job opportunities exist. USC does not have an opening for him right now. The best bet is that Orgeron goes to the NFL as an assistant.

ESPN had just announced that Ole Miss hired Houston Nutt who was fired by Arkansas. Secondly bad news for football sport:
Sean Taylor died earlier. The prayers to Sean and his family.
SC will not bring him back, that's like warming up Thanksgiving leftovers, and no disrespect meant to the great ex-SC coach. But time to move on.
Speaking of which, is anybody else out there having a hard time getting up for this game? The point spread has moved from 16 to 20, and there does not seem to be a sense that ucla can repeat its impossible feat of last year. I for one hate wipeouts, usually leaving at halftime if SC is involved in one, and that seems to be what the fans are facing.
I am trying to figure out how ucla can make a game of it. They have a pretty good defense so SC will not score 40 unless it gets ugly at the end and the westwooders give up, which they are known to do. But SC should be good for 30. How then does ucla score 30 or more?-- their quarterbacking is weak, the running is weak, and the front line is even weaker.
Nope, I don't see any miracles this year for our non-kissin' cousins.
P.S. What gives on this site?-- When I try to get in, I don't; when I am not trying, the gates open. I don't get it.

I hope this helps.
As for your comments, I hope it is a blow out. Those can be quite entertaining, also....
However, I agree that FUCLA's defense can be quite stout when they play with passion. However, FUCLA does not have the offense to score more than 10 points. We need to be wary of special teams, where the bRuins seem to excel, and we are often deficient. A blocked punt seems almost a certainty.
I don't think that Orgeron would be a good fit in the nfl at all. You don't recruit in the nfl and that's like 90% of what he brings to the table right there. And I'm not sure how his personality would go over with millionaire nfl dudes. Maybe Lane Kiffin would look past that, assuming he's still coaching the raiders in a couple months.
That said, if he's not coming back to usc, I have no idea where in the college football world he will end up.
I'd like Coach O to come back to SC. He's one of the best recruiters and the perfect guy to fire up the team when they are playing lack-luster football (see FUCLA '06 & Stanford '07). Put Coach O on this team next year, and a National Title is as good as ours.
As for other possible destinations: Orgeron coached at Miami during their hey-day. Perhaps Randy Shannon (who began as a grad assistant at Miami in 1991 while Coach O was on the staff) might need a guy like that to help run recruiting and the defense.
Either way, I'm sure Coach O will land on his feet somewhere. (I also think he'd make a much better college coach than NFL coach) I just hope it's for us and not against us.
Good luck to coach O.
Did he leave any good recruits behind for Houston Nutt to send to USC?
Sureshot:
U R right ON. Additionally, when there is exceptional talent available, you create an opening.
